I do really love this bit with Chetney asking Fearne or Imogen, fantastic speech from Imogen, but whenever the city block leveling comes up it's like. That is a show of uncontrolled and destructive power that she couldn't control and doesn't understand which is kind of the point being made here, like maybe you shouldn't push buttons just because they would unleash a powerful thing. Fear of change is stagnating and perpetuates existing harm; change simply for change's sake without consideration of consequences is incredibly selfish and foolhardy and no less harmful.

You know what bothers me about the pro archheart argument people? Half of the plan of that includes "use one or both of your companions to posses predathos" and NOBODY expect for Chetney at the end of the episode asked them "hey are you okay with doing that?" Cuz thats a HUGE part of that plan.

something I've recently noticed with characters -- mainly my d&d characters -- is that backstories are especially fun if you take a trope or a common backstory but change your character's role in it. Bonus points if they're the "villain" in this trope, whether by accident/misunderstanding or actions they intended to do but will/do regret after character development.
"my parents were killed by a (vampire/evil wizard/raging maniac/whatever)" but you're the one who killed someone's parents and now they're out to fucking Get You.
"my spouse/significant other died and I'm out to avenge them" but you're an undead or have the Reborn lineage or something and you're the dead spouse trying to find your revenge-obsessed lover before they do something they'll regret.
"my village was taken over by a tyrant" but you're the tyrant who's been chased out and fallen out of power and now you have to get Away From Here Fast.
"my noble family's manor burned down and I want to find the person who did it" but you're the housemaid who's been cast aside and put out of a job, and needs a quick way to make some money.
it sort of instantly gives the character more depth and makes the backstory feel more three-dimensional. Your character has done something wrong, whether by accident or on purpose, and that makes them feel more human. Not to mention the fact that many of these automatically create the easy-to-harness plot device of Someone Is After Me.
Anyways, hope that's helpful in some way :> happy character making!
#saving this for later because some of these ideas are awesome#tho i dont think my current campaign is going to finish soon#dnd

GOD I love tragedy. Some people eat spicy things, not me. I need fatal flaws dooming tragic hero's to let my sinuses know I’m alive

Vis: no one could ever figure out that I am the prince of Suss it is impossible. My backstory is rock solid.
Also Vis: openly admits he knows many dead languages, has the swordsmanship capabilities of the elite and shows off in front of the whole school, gets taken back to his home land with his friend and is having traumatic flash backs the whole time, admits to Idol that he is from Suss and spent time in the castle, is recognized by many of the people in Suss, names his fucking wolf friend DIAGO AFTER HIMSELF.

The show really hits you with the fact that Annabeth is the head counselor for the Athena cabin. Like, obviously she’s been there for a long time, but none of her older siblings are more fit for the job? How many others who are more experienced and older have already ventured off on deadly quests, never to return? Just how much death and tragedy has this girl witnessed at camp?
