Fun fact: Brazil joined the Allied powers to liberate Italy from the Nazis late during WW2. Our troops were incredibly unprepared and frankly had no expectations of ever fighting in the war. But when they got there, the Brazilian troops were apparently so fucking chaotic and batshit crazy that it even frightened the Nazis. This is what a German captain had to say about it:

I've been thinking a little. Consider; AU where Izuku gets Mega Injured during the battle trials, to the point where he's in a coma. But it's ok because it turns out the Vestiges can possess his body, so he can still goes to school, and Izuku learns the stuff when the Vestiges come back to the OfA world.
All Might is incredibly concerned about the basically walking corpse, but at least the Vestiges are having fun.
(Feel free to ignore this if you're not doing these anymore)
At some point during the black whip struggle, they drag Izuku into a cluster of pipes that hit his head pretty hard. The quirk still keeps going for a while even after he鈥檚 unconscious, so Aizawa has to step in to erase his quirk. They take him back to Recovery Girl, who says it鈥檚 very likely Izuku has severe brain damage and won鈥檛 wake up for a while. But not an hour later as he鈥檚 being checked in to a hospital, he wakes up. Brain scans show his activity is highly unusual for someone who is awake and talking, but since he鈥檚 otherwise been healed, they let him go back to UA.
Physically, the only difference in his behavior is that he sits up straighter in the drive back and blinks a lot. But the way he acts is just off. When Aizawa asks what happened with his quirk, instead of the mumbling speculation he expects, Izuku simply states that the excess energy from his quirk that he鈥檚 been holding back manifested into tangible protrusions. He also doesn鈥檛 scramble to apologize or beat himself up for hurting his friends. Once Aizawa tells him that he was the only one hurt, he just nods and stays quiet for the rest of the drive.
All Might gets a text and comes running. A voice that belongs to Izuku but isn鈥檛 quite his tells him that the boy he knows faced some blowback from black whip鈥檚 manifestation, so he鈥檚 going to take a backseat for a while. He knows it鈥檚 the vestiges driving without them even saying it. When he asks if Izuku is still in there, they say yes. He can鈥檛 experience anything while his body is awake, but the vestiges will pass along any info while he鈥檚 asleep and vise versa. His first message is an apology for making his mentor worry.
The other students are quick to blow off the whole incident as another mad man Midoriya episode. It takes a few days for it to set in just how different he is. Not just from how he was before, but day to day. Sometimes he鈥檚 more jokey and outgoing than ever, and others he doesn鈥檛 say a word and seems nervous to be there. And his fight style is all over the place. They know that people鈥檚 personalities can change after a brain injury, but they can鈥檛 help but miss their friend.
Whatever happened to Izuku that made him step back is taking longer to heal than the vestiges assumed. In the mean time, they pass on as much information about the quirk and their dealings with AFO as they can, so when Izuku does come back, he鈥檒l have more concrete info to work with so this doesn鈥檛 happen again. All that being said, the vestiges are enjoying being alive again a little too much. They order extra food, even stuff Izuku doesn鈥檛 like. Difference vestiges get along better with different classmates. All Might isn鈥檛 familiar enough with the individuals enough to tell who鈥檚 in the driver鈥檚 seat at any given moment, and they don鈥檛 go out of their way to tell him. The only one he knows for sure is Nana, who goes out of her way to spend time with him. It鈥檚 odd to hear things his master would say come out of his successor鈥檚 mouth, but All Might is grateful all the same. Until she says that even when Izuku comes back, they might not leave.
