I really love how in the early chapters Bard just slings his arm over Seb’s shoulders and Seb doesn’t care at all. Like, Bard can just walk into the kitchen, see Seb making the young master’s breakfast, casually throw an arm around him, say ‘mornin’, and go about his day. That kind of laid-back vibe drives me crazy.

While eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Those gentle slopes that lead to hell I'm trying to find some other great Black Butler fics to keep me entertained. Considering what an amazing writer you are I assume your taste in reading material is equally excellent, so I was wondering, do you have any favourite Black Butler fic recs to share?

Hello! Thank you, I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying my BB fic)) And yes, I do have some recs! I haven’t been an active reader for a while, so I’m probably missing out a lot, but here are the fics that I remember loving. It took me several attempts to get into some of them, but then they captured my attention completely. 

To the End of Everything. Realistic, captivating story, both in terms of romance and case fic.

Devilish Impulses. A very in-character story set at the end of S1.

Mary Sue’s Last Dance. A short and brilliant story featuring Sebastian and Ciel as demons.

Persona. My most favorite post S2 story. Unfinished but it has amazing character development. 

Stain the Water Clear. Pre-canon story, disturbing but incredibly beautiful. Heed the warnings, though.

 This author writes amazing long AUs. 

Of Gods and Monsters. Human AU with Ciel hiring Sebastian as his assassin-bodyguard.   

Eternity. A very realistic post S2.

In the Heart of Maelstorm. Delightful pirate AU.

Death Watch. Don’t remember much from it but I marked it as something I enjoyed. 

Trading Mistakes. Same here. Both this and the previous stories are set in a canon universe. 

A Magnificent Depravity. This one is sad, so I personally skip the second half of the last chapter, but I recall it being really interesting and surprising.

Pandemonium. An unusual idea that I was wary of at first but then I fell in love :)

Fool Me Twice, a modern AU story. It has many triggers, it’s unhealthy as hell, but it’s great. I can’t find any copies available, so if anyone needs one, just PM me. Here’s the description (not mine, taken from here): Sebastian catches a glimpse of Ciel at an airport and instantly becomes an obsessive stalker. Eventually he gets his hands on Ciel but Ciel easily turns the tables on him. He blackmails Sebastian into becoming his butler (read: slave), using Sebastian’s obsession with him to his advantage. Deliciously twisted mind games ensue.

At around the 27:00 minute mark of last night's Season Three premiere episode ‘On Thin Ice’ of TNT’s Sci-Fi series Falling Skies, the character of Ben Mason and his friend are discussing manga and comics. While Black Butler is never mentioned directly, I think based on the dialogue its rather obvious that they were talking about Black Butler.
