Me: Hello! [Introduces my favorite character in a show] this is The Character, everybody! They have a story arc where anxiety and an allegory for addiction causes them to do morally questionable actions that alienate them from their loved ones until they succumbs to mental illness! I particularly like how the writing shows that the character, despite these past actions, is still essentially a kind person who just wants to help the people they cares about, and how help and support from others allowed them to confront those internal demons and begin recovering! I think it’s cool that the narrative invites the audience to view their struggle with empathy and compassion! It’s great that younger viewers who might know a loved one in real life struggling with a similar situation have an accessable reference in this popular cartoon! It’s rare you find a cartoon that can approach the gravity of that situation, a lot of similar shows fall short of that mark—
