lourdes smiled at the pretty brunette as she thanked her for knowing who her costume was. ❛ i was obsessed with the wizard of oz growing up. it’s one of the greatest movies ever. ❜ she stated before she looked at the man walked away. ❛ he did reek of too much beer. ❜ she added before giving a slow twirl, keeping in mind that she was wearing wings. ❛ why thank you. that’s the look i was going for. plus have an excuse to walk around in leather pants and a sexy black bra. ❜ though lourdes probably would have if she’d have time to go out to party a lot. ❛ i’m lourdes by the way. ❜
Celeste clapped her hands a couple times as the other twirled. “Really, you look amazing. Any reason to go out in a sexy bra as a top is a good thing in my book,” she laughed. “I’m Celeste,” she introduced herself with a smile and a nod. “You look familiar...did you used to live here when you were younger?” she asked. Her memory was usually pretty good, but she had only been awake 13 years at this point.

“Honestly, it’s like they don’t know that if you were the Wendy’s girl you’d have red hair?” Roxy shook her head, grabbing her own drink from the bartender. She was glad to see Celeste at the distillery, it meant at least one familiar face here tonight. “Plus you’re wearing the ruby slippers, I mean come on…. if we’ve understood the reference you would think literally everyone else on earth would.”
Celeste laughed after Roxy’s remarks as the man in question left with his head hung. “Exactly, a brunette in braids is clearly Dorothy only. Could you imagine if I had worn the original silver slippers instead? The number of people who would get my costume might be even lower,” she chuckled and shook her head. “Well you look fantastic as always. Where’s your husband? Isn’t he worried I’ll come steal you away?” she added with a wink.

IT WAS THAT time of year again, where people go pretending to be someone else for the night. at least that is how taehyun saw it, live in a world of fantasy away from reality for a day. he didn’t feel like getting a drink, but wanted something to eat. he overhead a conversation of someone mistaking another for the fast food logo and not dorothy from wizard of oz. looking clearly at the person that mistaken the character, they seemed to be, or at least from what taehyun observed, intoxicated. “I don’t think they’re seeing clearly.”
Celeste sighed and turned away from the person who hadn’t gotten her costume right, turning instead towards the man who spoke now. “I certainly hope so, being drunk is a better excuse than being an idiot.” With that she waved her hand at the intoxicated person and shooed them away. “So, are you dressed as something casually obscure or are these just your normal clothes?” she asked, noticing a lack of costume. But then, some people dressed up as characters with very ordinary clothing, so she couldn’t really assume.

lourdes had left her friends to get a drink. though they were planning at hitting up a party at one of the other bars in town, she managed to get away from the other two angels to get herself a drink. hearing the woman correct the other person on who her costume and lourdes appeared behind her. ❛ someone’s not in kansas anymore, ❜ she stated before looking at the person who called her the wendy’s girl. ❛ maybe you should ask the wizard for a new brain, one that knows a pop culture reference when they see one. ❜ she picked up her whiskey before looking at celeste ❛ lo siento guapa. some people are just uneducated.❜
Celeste gestured to the other woman with wide eyes and a nod. “Thank you! See, you get it. And I think most would except that idiot,” she rolled her eyes and tilted her head in the man’s direction. She smirked over the rim of her glass before taking a sip as the man walked off. “Aren’t they? Although I really hope for his sake he was just drunk, because really,” she sighed, shaking her head. “You look like a lovely dark angel, though. Very alluring.”

“No, I’m not the logo girl from Wendy’s,” Celeste sighed when someone suggested such was her costume. She had come to the distillery seeing as it was the place more her scene out of those hosting parties that night, although someone not immediately recognizing her outfit was making her doubt the clientele now. “Haven’t you seen the wizard of oz?” she sighed before picking up a new martini from the bartender.
#amongstarters#feel free to have your character just overhear this if you don't want them to be who she is speaking to directly XD

{elizabeth gillies; cis female; she/her} hey isn’t that CELESTE WELLWORTH? the 30 year old IYAMAN REFUGEE (invulnerability) is known to be HELPFUL and EVASIVE. they have been in BOULDER CITY for 13 YEARS and always remind me of reading romance novels by the window, hair tied back with ribbons, being trapped in a gilded cage, and lonely days looking at art. will they still believe what they’ve been told all their life?
intro:
Celeste was the only child to a rather rich Iyaman couple, a couple who saw their daughter as nothing more than a possession they could control and use to further their own agendas. But Celeste never had any desire for any of that, all she ever dreamed of was a simple life and finding true love. She was a bit of a hopeless romantic like that, always reading romance novels and letting her imagination get the best of her.
When she was 16, she fell in love with a young man who started working for her family. He came from nothing and did labour work, so her father looked down on him of course, but Celeste lit up every time she saw his charming smile. She caught him sketching while he was on breaks and fell in love with his passion. They started seeing each other in secret, but after one night together, Celeste soon found out she was pregnant.
They planned to run away together before Celeste’s parents could find out, but her mother was suspicious and far too observant. Her parents interrogated her and locked her in her bedroom once they found out the truth. A couple of months into her captivity, she was told her lover had accepted a bribe from her father to leave and never contact her again, and she was heartbroken. Her parents told everyone she was away visiting family so that no one would know what she had gotten herself into. Meanwhile, they made plans to have Celeste’s baby taken in by another couple as soon as it was born, and plans for Celeste to be married off to a man who would look away from her indiscretion.
Celeste’s daughter was taken from her before she could even hold her newborn in her arms. By then, she was numb from the pain of losing everything, so she had barely registered that she would be married as soon as she was up on her feet again. As the day approached, so did the possibility of Celeste escaping to Earth in a pod. Her parents, being power-hungry people, had supported the usurper, but she had never held the same beliefs as them. So when she was able to, with the help of the family’s maid, she escaped at 17 years old to make her way to Earth.
When she woke on Earth, she had no memories but a deep feeling of unease at the idea of trusting others. She also had a necklace on which had the name “Celeste” on it, so she assumed that was her name. The people who had opened her pod were kind, helpful people, even if something in her struggled with the idea of trusting others. They helped her create a fake identity which she used to settle herself into town, but she kept to herself mostly in the beginning. She took time to study everything about humans that she could, but what interested her most was the history of human art. She didn’t know why she felt such an attachment to artistic skill, although when she tried to learn the skill herself, she realized it wasn’t something she had any talent in. So instead she dreamed of helping those who could get far in it, and she worked hard to one day open an art gallery in Boulder City.
