All Human is a band made up of just two guys, Adam Rupert (guitar/vocals) and Brian Ferrara (drums/vocals). Teenagers, You Don't Have To Die! is their second album, released in 2016, and is one of my personal favorites.
The LP as a whole has a haunted feeling about it. Everything from the subject matter to the instrumentals to the unique vocals just feels...haunted, i don't really have a better word for it. The singing being particularly impressive to me since there's quite of few people providing vocals on the project. The overall sound of the instrumentals from the project is another thing I love. The dark sound of the synths and pianos and drums and bass and everything just really gets me, especially when accompanied with the gritty sounding vocals. A lot of the lyrics have to do with self-hate, loneliness, and just disdain for life in general. Much of it having to do with failing personal relationships, whether that is with family or friends.
Then there's "And so Peter Dances" which is my second favorite track on this project, behind "Don't Come Home" and just ahead of "Where's my Upslope?". I discovered All Human in January 2018. was 18 and newly living on my own, it was a dark time in my life. I hated my job, my friends, my family, my self. Just the absolute perfect time to run into something like this. "And so Peter Dances" starts with a audio clip of the main character from the movie "Meet Bill" where he rants about how much working sucks. The rest of the song speaks about the feeling of loneliness, especially around holidays, and feeling like you have "no home".
This is getting long and I don't feel like proof reading so I'm ending this by saying just please listen to the album. It really is amazing and something that is very near and dear to me.

New single from one of my personal favorite bands Home Is Where. "yes! yes! a thousand times yes!" dropped april 25th along with the release date for their upcoming album the whaler which is set for June 16th of this year.
"yes! yes! a thousand times yes" is the lead single so its the first look into the upcoming album that weve gotten so far. and the tldr is that its great and i could not be more excited for july. their 2021 ep i became birds is one of my personal favorites so maybe im a little biased.
imo the song is a promising look into what else the band can do. in the past theyve had more of an In Your Face sound even on their slower tracks. and we get that here too with Macdonalds vocals not changing too much from what we expect although it is a little more singy and a little less yelling. and even tho the screaming vocals is what initially caught my attention on i became birds, i also really enjoy the more singy vocals. especially alongside the newer lighter guitar tone.
interestingly the song really changes in sound and quality about half way thru. with the first half sounding a bit higher fidelity than that last half. the rhythm section also sounds a little off to me before the change up. but honestly i really like the bass and guitar parts. my biggest gripe is mostly with the drums who seems to lose time a bit at the start but with their rough around-the-edges style, isnt too big of a deal for me. and they seem to lock it in during the second half anyways.
according to a press release the upcoming album was written during a rough time in Macdonalds life and the meaning behind the song realyl reflects that. Macdonald went on to say the song “tells the story of two people faking normalcy in the normalcy of faking. The idea or even the image (no matter how altered or perfectly copied) of love is no substitute for the real.”
then finally theres the music video which i wont speak on too much since ive only seen it twice so far. that being said its really great and well shot and a little funny plus theres a dog for like 4 frames. the first half really made me feel something and the second half made me smile really hard so i recommend watching it at least once

Hol' up is one of my current favorite songs. And Section.80 is for sure in my top 20 albums of all time. In the song Kendrick raps about a stewardess who flirts with him and goes on to rap about a having sex with her in the airplane and everyones response to the situation. The stewardess seems to be a metaphor for the music industry and how hes currently on the come up and how it makes some other people in the industry uncomfortable or even scared, comparing himself to Bin Laden on a plane. The trumpet that plays throughout the song is sampled from Shifting Sands Of Sound by Dick Walters. And is the biggest reason why i love this song so much. The song is produced by Soundwave who has worked on all of Kendricks studio albums and i think he just absolultley nailed it here. That paired with Kendricks extremely on point flow just really comes together to give us this incredible second track. And the upbeat, feel good mood the song has sounds great coming off the opening track F*ck Your Ethnicity which has a slightly more downbeat and serious sound. Overall its an extremely well made songs from start to finish with that signature Kendrick Lamar polish to it that i love so much. and honestly i just love a good horn on the beat.
