a morphism of categories

a category C consits of a class of objects ob(C), a class of morphisms mor(C).

where every morphism has a domain and codomain each being an object.

you can compose morphisms associatively

for every object X there is an identity morphism 1 with domain and codomain X s.t. 1f=f and g1=g for all morphims f with codomain X and all morphisms g with domain X.

Examples

a group G is a category in the following sense: ob(G)={x} and mor(G)=G the composition is the group multiplication and the domain and codomain are always x

any oriented graph is a category with the vertecies as objects and paths of edges as morphisms

there is the category of groups with groups as objects and group homomorphisms as morphisms

a functor F: C -> D between categories C and D associates any object X of C to an object F(X) of Y

F associates any morphism in C to a morphism in D respecting (or reversing) the (co) domain (like reverse or respect for all morphisms not for each on an individual basis) and respecting identity morphisms and composition.
