The creature Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is featured in both American and Canadian folklore and has connections to Indigenous cultures. The name Sasquatch is believed to come from the Salish word Sasq'ets, which means "wild man" or "hairy man". The term was coined by Canadian journalist J.W. Burns in the 1930s, who was an Indian agent assigned to the Chehalis Band.

The Hibagon, Japanese Bigfoot
The Hibagon is a strange monster from Japanese mythology. In Japan, people sometimes refer to it as bigfoot or sasquatch. People say that it lives in the remote woods and mountainous areas of Hiroshima Prefecture, especially near Mount Hiba. The Hibagon tale started to get a lot of attention in the 1970s, when a number of sightings made people in the area and cryptozoologists both curious and scared. Different people have different ideas about what the Hibagon looks like, but most agree that it is a big, powerful creature that is about five to six feet tall. Typically, its hair is dark, rich brown, or black, and people often describe its face as more ape-like than human. Witnesses have described its big, bulging eyes and prominent brow line as adding to its scary appearance. People typically envision the North American bigfoot as a massive, terrifying entity. Hibagon is smaller and more compact, but still strange.
In 1970, some elementary school children in Saijo, Hiroshima, said they saw a strange, hairy creature near their school. This was the first sighting that got a lot of attention. They repeated a story about a two-legged animal watching them from the forest edge. Shortly after this sighting, many people in the area said they had seen the thing in the surrounding areas. Following these sightings, there was a lot of fear and attention, which led to planned searches and expeditions to find proof that the Hibagon existed. Even though both amateur and expert researchers worked hard, they could not find definitive proof. But the reports kept coming in. Some people said they had seen the thing up close and smelled it. They also reported experiencing a spooky sense of being under surveillance. Many theories have emerged to explain the Hibagon phenomenon. Some speculate that it could be a previously undiscovered ape species or a group of extinct hominids that have somehow survived to modern times. Some people believe it could be a mistakenly reported bear, or a hoax spread by locals or pranksters. Mount Hiba's dense forests and rough landscape make it a wonderful place for such a creature to hide, which supports the idea that there may be an undiscovered species. Culture also significantly influences the story of the Hibagon. Japan has a long history of folklore and myth, and many of the stories involve strange animals and supernatural beings. The Hibagon serves as a fragment of this broader narrative, illustrating the human fascination with the unfamiliar and the untamed. The story explores the ancient theme of human interaction with nature, deeply ingrained in Japanese society and widely recognized worldwide.
And even though there isn't much evidence, the Hibagon story continues to fascinate those who hear it. It's become part of the local folklore, and some places use it to attract tourists and people interested in cryptids. Books, documentaries, and local goods all feature the creature's picture, perpetuating the story of the Hibagon. The Hibagon basically stands for the allure of mystery and the thought that there may still be unknown animals living in the deepest parts of our world. People remain curious and speculate about whether the Hibagon story is based on a real species yet undiscovered, or on myth and imagination. It reminds me of how big nature is and how many people still want to explore and learn about the unknown.

Bigfoot Migration Routes
The idea for Bigfoot's migration routes comes from sightings and theories put forward by fans and experts. Many believe that Bigfoot requires large areas with abundant food and housing due to its supposed size and resource needs. Some people think that Bigfoot might have specific movement patterns, moving with the seasons to find the best food sources and best places to live. It is thought that Bigfoot might move between lower elevations in the winter and higher elevations in the summer in the Pacific Northwest, where forests offer a lot of cover and a variety of environments. This pattern would help the animal stay warm in the winter and find food like berries, nuts, and small game that is available at certain times of the year. The tall conifers and underbrush in the dense woods could provide excellent hiding places and a wide range of food sources. Rivers and streams are common in this area, so they would provide a steady source of water, adding to the evidence that Bigfoot could live here.
Other places, such as the Appalachians, have proposed similar ideas about seasonal movement. Large areas of forest and a variety of wildlife habitats could support the idea that Bigfoot goes to different places throughout the year based on where there is food and when the weather is mild. The Appalachians have a different but still very rich climate, with a wide range of plants and animals. Because deciduous woods change with the seasons, they may offer a range of food sources all year, from spring buds and fruits to nuts in the fall. The rough landscape and many caves could provide protection from the weather and privacy from people. Some experts have also thought that Bigfoot might use river valleys and waterways as natural paths. These paths would give people steady access to water and might lead to places with lots of plants and animals. Also, there aren't as many people on river bottoms, which gives Bigfoot a better chance of going unnoticed. We could use natural paths like the Columbia River Gorge or the Ohio River Valley as examples. These paths would connect different environments and make it possible for many types of movement. The huge, uninhabited areas in the Canadian wilderness, especially in British Columbia and Alberta, are another possible place for Bigfoot to move around. Boreal woods, with their large areas of untouched land, might provide the privacy needed for a creature this size to live without frequently coming across humans. Because of the changing seasons in the north, people would also have to move around to find food and suitable places to live, which supports the idea of a migratory trend. Some ideas say that Bigfoot moves around and acts in certain ways, but there isn't enough solid evidence to say for sure. A lot of what we know comes from eyewitness reports, which aren't always reliable and are just stories. We've noticed patterns in sightings, but they don't definitively prove the existence of specific migration tracks. It's hard to put together a clear picture because reports aren't always consistent about things like the creature's appearance, behavior, or even the time of year.
Some people think that the different reports might be because there are multiple Bigfoot populations that behave differently in different places, rather than a single group that moves around. This means that different areas may have their own bigfoot populations, each adapted to its resources and surroundings. This idea might help explain why sightings happen in different places, like the dense woods of the Pacific Northwest and the swamps of the southeastern United States. To sum up, the idea of Bigfoot's migration routes is mostly based on guesswork, trying to explain how such a big, mysterious animal could live in the wild. Several ideas suggest that weather, food availability, and the need for solitude influence seasonal movements. But since there is no solid proof, these theories will always be part of the myths and mysteries surrounding Bigfoot's mysterious figure.

My opinion of this is that the Patterson-Gimlin film at first was probably a fake but as time has gone on its the only Bigfoot footage that stands up today as people are not clear on whether its exactly is legitimate or hoaxed?
Especially with the upgrade in the footage being digitized and the special advancements that have been made on it. Plus I always thought Bluff Creek, California, was kind of hard to get to so it would have been kind of hard for somebody to go in and possibly fake it!!!
