As my Final Project, I photographed and edited 20 images in which I focused on warping the faces and distorting the recognizability of celebrities/public figures I have had the chance to work with as a photographer. while working events and gigs, I have found myself dwarfed by these so-called larger-than-life figures and feel like a tool or object used to grow their social media standing or attention. Though I am leaving the name of the celebrities in the description of the photographs, I glitch and warp these people's faces taking away the recognizability from each celeb's face while leaving people in the background and surroundings intact. Celebrity fascination has grown over time, nourished by social media and the advancement of technology. As someone who works in this field, I realized I may be part of the problem and wanted to use this project to take back my images and create a new meaning for the photographs. I aim to show viewers that at the end of the day celebrities are human, not gods. They are not untouchable, our perception of them is what gives them power in society.
