My review of the Shark exhibit in the Natural History Museum.
I went to the shark exhibit at the Natural History Museum in New York. I liked it because I like sharks a lot.
The exhibit had many models of sharks such as the Megalodon, an extinct shark; they also had models of deep sea sharks like the goblin shark and the Greenland shark. There were some shark teeth and fossils that you could read about in a little description box. I really liked it, though it was kind of stuffy in the room. If I could change anything about the exhibit, I would probably add even more models, and air conditioning. The little description boxes were sometimes hard to read in the dim light of the exhibit, so I would make the letters a little brighter.
They had a game about sharks and their habitats. The way you would play the game was you select the shark on the left side, and then try to guess the habitat on the right. If you got it right (like I did) it would show a picture of the shark on the screen in front of you, and show some facts about the shark you selected in the beginning. I liked the game because I was very good at it. I made little children very upset because I was better and they were hebetudinous.
I would recommend going to the exhibit if you like sharks. It’s a great place to see models of sharks and beat little kids in games to boost your ego.

Different types of shark breathing
Did you know that sharks do not have lungs?
Yet they still breathe oxygen like you or me. They have many unique ways to breathe without lungs. Here are 3 ways sharks breathe.
Ram ventilation
Most sharks breathe by pushing water through their mouth and into their gills by swimming. This is called ram ventilation. Ram ventilation is when a shark takes in oxygen-rich water and filters it through gill filaments. The oxygen depleted water flows out the gills and mouth while the oxygen flows into the gill arches where it goes to all the shark's internal organs. Ram ventilation is both cool and unique.
Buccal pumping
Another way sharks breathe is called buccal pumping. Buccal pumping is where a shark lowers their buccal cavity —located inside the mouth above the gill arches— and breathes in oxygen-rich water. Then, when they need to breathe again, they push the floor of the buccal cavity up to flush oxygen-rich water over their gills. This type of breathing is relatively common but is a little bit less common than ram ventilation.
Spiracles
Another type of breathing is by using a spiracle. A spiracle is basically a gill flap but it is located behind the eyes. This was an evolutionary trait that was made for mostly rays that spend their time on the seafloor buried in sand. This is more common among rays but not many other fish.
Sharks can breathe in all of these extraordinary ways without even having or needing lungs. Furthermore there is more than one way to breathe using gills. I hope I have increased your knowledge about sharks.

Tiger sharks are moving in
According to the United Nations, “As greenhouse gas emissions blanket the Earth, they trap the sun’s heat. This leads to global warming and climate change. The world is now warming faster than at any point in recorded history.” Thus, the temperature rises and so does the sea. It is very bad for people, especially in places like California, because it's already way too warm here.
Climate change makes water warmer. Therefore, more waters are habitable for tiger sharks. Tiger sharks could throw off the food chain in their new homes because they are an invasive species.
Despite its name, the tiger shark has a jaguar pattern more than a tiger one. You can find them in any warm water, beside the Mediterranean. The tiger shark is a relatively big shark. Its nickname is the ‘trash can’ of the sea because it basically eats anything it finds.

Goblin Shark>Great Whites
When you think of sharks, do you think of a goblin shark? Probably not. You probably think of its bland, stinky, bigger cousin: the great white. The great white has had a hold on popular shark culture ever since JAWS; the great white has become the face of sharks. And for no good reason!! But there is a cooler shark to look at: the goblin shark. The goblin shark has a jaw that pops out of its place to eat – the great white’s jaw doesn't do that and therefore it's boring, lame, and bland. Goblin sharks live at least 4265 feet down in the water, whereas great whites only live about 2500 feet deep in the water. Though most people are terrified of the goblin shark, I like it.
