Do you know what I hate??

When I was growing up any time my brother upset/hurt/was rude to or downright nasty to me I was told “he’s just doing it to get a rise out of you” “he’s just doing it to annoy you”

Like??? I know?? I know he’s being mean to upset me. I know he’s saying horrible stuff to annoy me. And guess what?? I’m annoyed!!!!

I was literally told not to be upset, because his intentions were to upset me????

How is that not upsetting? Especially to a young girl??

I finished @marrogerson‘s Sorcery of Thorns a while back (I liked it! Slow read for me personally, but it was enjoyable. Full Goodreads review here, if you’re interested), but I just scrolled through the tumblr tag…

As expected, everyone was either quoting the same line, posting pictures of the cover (what else did I expect, honestly), or flailing over the fact that Nathaniel is canonically bisexual.

But one thing I didn’t see anyone talking about was the fact that Silas was clearly asexual.

After all, “I have no interest in human bodies. Not in any carnal sense.” only has so many meanings.

(Also Nathaniel/Silas/Elisabeth was absolutely a poly ship/queerplatonic relationship and nothing can convince me otherwise, because just as often were there “hints” about Nathaniel and Elisabeth’s feelings, there were the same regarding their feelings towards Silas, in the same manner and tone.)

Welcome to Terabithia on steroids. A mood piece for The Wicker King. This was such a beautiful read and I’m such a sucker for mixed media story telling. This story resonated strongly with me, as I had a close relative with a memory impairment and would mix thoughts and mis-remember things. Having to tread that line of contesting their reality or indulging in their fantasy with every sentence, every word, every moment was a constant split-second debate of how it would affect their happiness; short term and long term. This story is a much more extreme case of how someone with a mental illness and another with PTSD find solace in each other. And while it’s not healthy, there is a definite equilibrium to Jack and August’s relationship over the course of the story.
