i can't even lie the funniest part of the entire critical role mighty nein/legend of vox machina animated show panel was when they were talking character design and apologizing that molly's coat isn't as intricate as taliesin's descriptions in c2. 😂 sam was saying that as they gave molly's description, the poor folks at titmouse were like "sorry, his tattoos look like what???? 🫢🫢 and WHAT'S on the coat??????? 🫣🫣🫣🫣" and they had to tone it down because of the complexity of animating a lot of crazy patterns. they were joking that every taliesin character is un-animatable. taliesin was like "no i truly am so happy with how molly's design came out, the animators were so wonderful, etc", and someone (i can't remember who, might've been sam again) joked that this was an apology to all the molly cosplayers who had to spend so long on the coat, but that the original version would live on a) in taliesin's brain and in the original C2, and b) in all the art and cosplay that has already been made. and then they said the really low v neck on molly's shirt makes up for it, and laura made a joke along the lines of "it has to be lower. no, lower. LOWER!"

anyway the whole panel was great but that was so funny bc it was clear that they low-key wanted to get out ahead of people who might be like "why is molly's coat not the original fancy design!!" like babes we are so happy. i think we are all so fucking happy to see the mighty nein animated. i promise we aren't going to be mean about molly's coat, we all understand the restrictions of animation.

Love that Fjord's vision upon touching the Cloven Crystal caused him to experience Vandran's claiming of the same Cloven Crystal from Vandran's perspective. Fjord at this point in the campaign is mimicking Vandran's voice to project authority; trying to embody the traits if his he most admires. His warlock pact was likewise inherited from Vandran. Having Fjord absorb the Cloven Crystal while experiencing Vandran doing the same highlights the continuity between them and how much of Fjord's person is inherited from Vandran.
