The roaring sounds of cheering announced it was arena season again, Julius internally sighed knowing that meant Morgan would be gone for a while. Still, he didn’t let it bother him too much, knowing how enthusiastic his boyfriend usually was whenever he was deployed to the arena. Morgan loved testing his strength by fighting heroes from other worlds. Hearing his boyfriend recount various battles was always a joy for Julius that made waiting for him worthwhile.
By the time Julius arrived to the main hall to see Morgan off, the heroes were already gathered and ready to leave. Alcryst and Shez turned to the sound of him arriving, the latter giving him a friendly wave. While another version of Shez, the “bonus” hero the Summoner picked was idly standing by the door.
“Where’s Morgan?” Julius asked with a small frown.
“You didn’t hear?” The beach dressed mercenary asked with a slight tilt of his head, “the Summoner took him off the team.”
“What?” Julius’s voice lowered, his blood red eyes narrowing slightly, “Took him off? Why?”
“The Summoner decided to bring Griss in instead,” Alcryst replied softly, his ruby eyes never looked at his, they were warily focused on something else. No, it was someone else. Julius followed his gaze and spotted the hero the archer was eyeing, a tall man with dark green hair the color of moss and orange eyes the color of smoldering embers. The new hero wore a maniacal grin as if itching for battle.
It didn’t take long for Julius to recognize Griss, he had recently been summoned from Elyos, he was a member of the Four Hounds from the little information then prince knew. The Summoner had been squawking about the manic mage around the castle for a while.
Julius immediately noticed Griss radiated the same empowered energy he, Morgan, Shez and Alcryst all shared after reaching their maximum potential.
That meant there was another hero just like them, with the same fighting capability for the arena. Then Morgan’s absence meant…
That meant the Summoner had replaced Morgan.
Fury boiled inside Julius at the thought of his beloved being cast aside. He scoffed loudly, startling Shez and spun around quickly, speed walking in search of Morgan.
The first place that came to Julius’s mind other than Morgan’s room was the library, the quiet area was a perfect place to be alone and undisturbed. It was a place Morgan frequently visited to read different books or manuals to gain knowledge to skills from other heroes. Julius himself had inherited decent skills from those manuals, not a lot of heroes had access to them.
Sure enough Morgan was standing on his toes, hand outstretched as he tried reaching a book a tad too high for him to grab. Julius silently approached the boy, his hand effortlessly pulling the book halfway out of the shelf. His boyfriend noticed him and looked up, “Jules?” He whispered, “what are you doing here?”
“I think the better question is what are you doing here, my love?” Julius countered with a soft smirk, his breath warm on Morgan’s neck.
Morgan looked away with a sad expression, “I was just thinking maybe I could get stronger..” he mumbled.
“You’re already strong, Morgan.” Julius leaned down to peck at Morgan’s forehead, he looked up at the book his boyfriend had been reaching for earlier and pushed it back into its place, “you don’t need this.”
Morgan’s eyes remained downcast, Julius wrapped an arm gently around him and gently guided him to a quiet corner. He sat Morgan down on the small bench before settling next to him, “you can talk to me about it, my love.”
“I don’t wanna bother you with it,” Morgan whispered and laughed a little, “I’m probably just being a bit dramatic, it’s not the end of the world.”
Julius’s hand reached to cup Morgan’s cheek and gently turned it to meet his eyes, “I want you to talk to me about whatever troubles you,” his boyfriend opened his mouth but Julius lightly shushed him, “I don’t care if it seems small, I want you to be honest about your feelings.”
“Well,” Morgan started softly, his hand rubbed the back of his neck, “It’s just that I’ve been to the arena since…” he tapped his chin thoughtfully, “well as far as I can remember after arriving here in Askr.” He let out a small nervous chuckle, “it feels strange to be taken off the team.”
His expression changed, a frown on his face as he focused on his hands in front of him, “I can’t help but think I was thrown off for being too weak.” His eyes narrowed slightly as if trying to hide his tears, “The heroes have been quiet tough lately… but I thought I was holding my own pretty well!”
He sighed loudly, closing his hand, “so much for that right?” Julius pulled him closer to him to hug him with an arm, Morgan leaned into his shoulder, “I guess the Summoner grew tired of me. They haven’t even asked me to send greetings to their friends.”
Guilt pooled in Julius’s stomach, that very task had been given to him recently, to think he’d unknowingly hurt his beloved each time he’d left the castle. His guilt turned to anger towards the Summoner, he’d never understood why they wanted him of all heroes to visit those hovels, “I’m sorry my love, I feel as if I’ve stolen that role from you.” The prince blurted.
Morgan became flustered at the suddenly apology and waved his hands defensively in front of him, “I-I didn’t mean it like that! I’m happy you get to greet the Summoner’s friends a-and I-I’m sorry if that offended you! It’s just that…” The mage stammered, “f-forget what I said-“
Julius delicately placed a finger lightly over his lips to silence him, “I said I wanted you to be honest about your feelings, besides I don’t enjoy it nearly enough as you do,” his hand moved to run through Morgan’s dark hair, “I’ll be sure to discuss this with the Summoner and how much it means to you, you’ll be greeting other Summoners in no time.”
Discussion indeed… Julius laughed sinisterly to himself as he imagined it, that would be quite fun.
The mage’s eyes lit up, not noticing the prince’s internal amusement, “really?”
Julius smiled softly, “anything for you, my love.”
Morgan beamed and hugged him tightly, “aww! Thank you, Jules!” Julius returned the hug with a delightfully chuckle.
They stayed together for a long time, enjoying each other’s warmth. Finally Morgan pulled away with a smile, pink spreading across his cheeks, “I just realized there is one good thing that came out of this.”
“What is it?” Julius asked.
“Now that I’m no longer fighting in the arena, I get to spend more time with you.” Morgan replied with an abashed laugh and looked away, “It sounds pretty corny doesn’t it?”
A smirk tugged at Julius’s lips as he began to blush as well, his hand tipped Morgan’s chin up, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He whispered before pressing their lips together.
#Guess who changed their main hero back to Morgan ha ha… he’s back to greeting all my friends now (just thought it’d be fun)#I’m also gonna +10 Griss tomorrow#fe fanfic#m!morgan#julius#morgius#roel writes

I thought about it for a while but there’s no way Marc would ever carry some bugs in his pouch for combat purposes. I think he’d ask some of them to kinda tail him just in case he needs to copy their abilities but that’s about it
Cuz like if he tripped and fell…. Squish

After summoning Fenrir, all members with fjalar blood are able to use some of their energy to amplify/fortify Fenrir’s form for combat purposes.
The size of their form depends on how much energy the person uses/has.
like there’s a difference between being power by someone with major fjalar blood compared to one with minor.

Could Marc use two different abilities from bugs at once? Maybe once he’s grown stronger but it will take a toll on him.

The abilities Marc uses vary differently from the bug he copied them from so he may have a more practical use.
For example some bugs can control other bugs, Marc can apply this to people (cuz like if he can a produce a smell only ants would be affected by it would be pretty impractical wouldn’t it?) but same train of thought here, what kind of smell would incite people to protect him? XD

The first time Estelle had discovered this aspect of her power, she had only been a child. Her first victim had been a mouse that had scampered into the castle, she’d wanted it to stop, the way it ran towards her frightened her.
Then it had stopped dead in its tracks, just like she had wanted.
The young girl had immediately known she had been responsible for it as electricity had sparked around her in a beautiful blue.
She’d panicked and a bolt of lightning had struck the poor mouse.
She’d bursted into tears, terrified of herself. If she could do that to a mouse, what could she do to another person? Bodies upon bodies all scorched beyond reconstruction had flooded her mind.
Mother and Father were there to comfort her like they always did, reassuring her that it was an accident, soothing her worries.
It had helped and soon Estelle had forgotten about it. All she could remember from that day was she had promised herself she’d never ever use this power to control another human being.
Estelle should have broken her promise, but now Mother was dead. Father had been out somewhere when one of Mother’s trusted knights had stabbed her in the back.
She could’ve stopped the assassin, it wouldn’t even have taken much effort.
Mother wouldn’t come back no matter how much she sobbed.
This wouldn’t have happened if she had used her power
This wouldn’t have happened if she had used her power
This wouldn’t have happened if she…
This wouldn’t have happened if….
This wouldn’t have happened if they didn’t have control of themselves…
The only way to protect yourself is to make sure you can control everything around you.
They should be punished.
Yes… They were given too much freedom and rebelled against their ruler. That’s why Mother died.
She slowly stood up, reaching her hand out towards the nearest guard, electricity cackling around her. They shrieked before it was abruptly cut off.
She finally understood why she was given this power.
Estelle smirked as she glided down the hall, every soldier stood lined along the room, unmoving.
They could wear any kind of expression, feel any emotion they wanted, most of it fear anyways.
How boring.
Whatever, this was the only freedom she’d allow. Their bodies were otherwise hers to command, they could never rebel, they could never kill her like they did Mother.
Isn’t this wrong?
Where’d that thought come from? Her tracks faltered and she stopped, it felt like a faraway cry, one with the innocence of childhood.
Wasn’t what they did to Mother wrong?
B-but I promised I wouldn’t use it on another person!
A wide smirk tugged at her lips, she let out a laugh at the thought.
Oh I didn’t use it on another person, don’t worry little Estelle.
They’re mere insects, bees if you will
And I am their queen.
#Roel writes#fe ocs#Estelle#It’s a small what if with no real plot (honestly idk where Julius even is at the end) but I think this would be a darker kind of turn#Estelle becoming a villain without Loptous’s influence

Close Yet Far
Morgan jumped back just as a lance stabbed into the ground where he’d just been standing, he opened his tome, flipping through the pages as magic glowed from his hand. He threw his hand forward, a blast of dark magic exploded from his palm into the enemy soldier who was felled immediately.
The surrounding enemies in the area were hit with a wave of energy that sapped at their energy while Morgan felt a wave of strength fill his body. He briefly looked at his tome, Grima’s mark adoring the cover.
He took a quick glance around the battlefield, his purple eyes darted quickly from each of his allies; Shez and his wyvern were easily evading two wyvern riders, Alcryst was having no issue with downing enemies with his arrows and then there was Julius, the prince was to his right casting spells and shrugging off any attacks that managed to land. He noticed Morgan’s eyes on him and flashed a small smile.
Focus. Morgan shook himself but returned Julius’s smile with one of his own before more enemies charged them.
Morgan swiftly rolled out of the way of a sword, his hand scooped up the dirt below as he recovered and he hurled it into the enemy’s eyes. His right hand moved quickly to cast a spell to finish off the soldier while they were stunned, feeling his exhaustion subside a little as the soldier fell.
He barely had time to use his tome to awkwardly parry a punch, their steel gauntlet scrapped against the cover of his tome. Luckily for him, Alcryst’s arrow whizzed by and found its mark in the enemy’s chest.
The mage prepared himself when he spotted two men rushing him, one with a dagger, the other holding a sharp lance. He darted away from the lance fighter who had made his way to Morgan first, the fighter plunged his weapon into the ground, just missing him. The mage took the opportunity to strike the fighter with his spell.
Suddenly a wave of pain erupted in his side as a blade slashed into his side, I didn’t expect him to be that fast! Morgan thought with a wince, clutching his side as the thief from earlier rushed past him, his dagger now dripping with Morgan’s blood.
Morgan was about to counterattack until he felt a wave of nausea hit him, his spell hand dropped
The dagger had been poisoned.
It didn’t take long until his breaths came out in small pants, he’d been poisoned before but the poison never took this fast to set in.
He had to get to the others… his eyes were barely focused as everything seemed to blur… where was everyone?
His arms felt numb and he struggled to hold his tome, his legs felt weak as he took a few steps back. He heard voices yelling his name but they seemed so farawayhe couldn’t tell where they were coming from…
“M…”
“Move!”
His ears managed to pick up the warning, Morgan looked up to see a bright purple spell shooting towards him. His heart pounded, adrenaline pumping into his veins as he mustered enough strength to leap backwards to avoid the attack.
Morgan’s blood ran cold the moment he clumsily landed, a sinister aura sent a chill down his spine as a hooded mage appeared in front of him, a dark spell glowing from their hand and a wide smirk plastered on their face.
Morgan’s widened in terror as the mage released their spell point blank into his chest and then his world exploded into agony.
————————————————————————
“Morgan!” Julius screamed in desperation, his red eyes filled with fear at the explosion of energy in front of him. His heart dropped as he watched Morgan crash violently into the ground.
No…
Get up…
Please!
But the mage simply laid there, the prince’s eyes started to well with tears, afraid of what he’ll see. The leg ring he wore gave him an extra speed boost as he dashed towards Morgan.
Rage surged through him as enemies blocked his path, weapons drawn. The prince snarled, throwing his hand in front of him, his magic pulsing wildly, “GET OUT OF MY WAY!”
A roar tore through the air as he summoned the dark dragon, bigger and angrier than any he had cast in this battle. Powered by the fury within him, Loptous ripped through each soldier as if they were paper.
His head started to throb but he simply gritted his teeth against the whispers within his mind, he had other things to worry about.
“Morgan!” Julius collapsed to his knees as he gathered his boyfriend’s limp body in his arms. Morgan’s head lolled in his arm, his eyes were closed and blood stained the corners of his mouth, “please… please wake up!”
Tears sprang into his eyes as they laid on the wound in the mage’s chest, a dark pool of blood soaked the area and a faint scorched smell entered his nose, “please… don’t leave me…”
Blood from Morgan’s stab wound started to flow between Julius’s fingers, but that wasn’t what got his attention, it’s was the tiny stings he felt from where the blood had touched him, leaving irritated red marks in its wake, poison… he thought with a glare, confirming his suspicions earlier.
His fingers trembled as he touched Morgan’s neck.
Silence…
No….
Julius’s heart pounded as he tried to steady his own breathing….
Then he felt it, it was extremely faint but it was still there. Julius held his breath, his finger shaking as he moved it under Morgan’s nose waiting until he felt weak air blow against it. It did very little to reassure him, knowing that Morgan was still at the brink of death. He silently cursed himself, he lacked the ability to cast healing magic.
No one on their team knew how to heal.
Morgan was going to…
Julius pushed those thoughts aside, unable to bear it. But the only hero with a mount was too far away and dealing with enemies. The prince gritted his teeth in anger and fear, he refused to just stand here waiting, not while his beloved’s life hung in the balance.
Right now he was the only one who could do something, it was a long shot but it was better than nothing.
He wouldn’t let Morgan die.
He hauled himself up, holding Morgan securely in his arms, his heart breaking at the sight of the mage’s limp form, afraid he’d never wake again. Tears stained the corners of his eyes, he would not let that happen.
The prince broke into a sprint back towards the castle, strong wind whipped into his eyes but it did little to deter him.
Please hang in there, my love!
————————————————————————
The door to the infirmary was broken open, the wood splintered into pieces from the sheer force of Julius’s kick. He stumbled into the room, just able to keep himself from collapsing, his chest heaving from exhaustion, twigs and leaves clung to his now messy red hair and his legs trembled as he struggled to stand properly.
Dozens of heads turned to him in shock, “Stop gawking and help him!” Julius managed to yell before doubling over, gasping for breath, his lungs burning with pain.
That seemed to snap the healers out of it and several of them flocked to him. They guided him to one of the empty beds near a window and helped the prince transfer Morgan onto it. They rushed around gathering supplies while a few of them started using their heal staffs on Morgan.
Julius watched them work, trying to push away his exhaustion. He had to make sure Morgan would be alright.
Th-ump
Th-ump
“Ugh..” Julius clutched his chest with a deep wince as his heart throbbed painfully. His body was already not used to so much physical activity, his legs buckled and he fell forward. One of the nurses made a startled gasp, Julius barely managed to break some of his fall using the wall.
He couldn’t bring himself to stand and simply slumped against the wall, breathing heavily. The nurse who’d seen him fall approached him, he simply brushed her hand away with a weak glare, “don’t waste it on me, focus on healing Morgan.” She gave him a timid, unsure nod before joining the other healers.
His eyes started to grow heavy as his breathing started to even out, his body exhausted beyond its limit. He turned his head weakly towards Morgan, trying to stay awake.
He couldn’t fall asleep, not yet…
he had to…
make sure…
———————————————————————-
By the time Julius woke up the healers had already left, he glanced down to see bandages wrapped around his hand and fingers, it seems one of the healers had treated the wound while he was out. The smell of medicine flooded his nose, most likely from the cream they applied to combat the poison.
He immediately shuffled over to Morgan’s side and sat down on a stool that had been placed there. His boyfriend’s bloodied clothes had been replaced with clean bandages wrapped around his torso, several bandages were also wrapped around his head. He looked much more relaxed in his sleep.
Julius’s hand clasped over Morgan’s, relief finally flooding his veins as he let himself smile and yet his heart still ached, not from the pain of exhaustion. No, it was seeing Morgan in this state, he wanted nothing more to see his love open his eyes and call his name.
Still, knowing Morgan was going to be alright put some of his worries at ease, “please wake up soon, my love.” He whispered.
Julius’s head turned to the sound of footsteps arriving at the door, at least where the door used to be. Shez walked though the empty frame, save for a few bandages wrapped around his arm, he seemed rather unharmed, “Hey there’s some food left in the dining hall, do you want to go eat something?” The mercenary asked.
Julius simply turned back to Morgan, “I’m fine.”
“But-“ Shez was interrupted by a hand on his shoulder from Alcryst, the archer simply shook his head, his ruby eyes filled with an understanding of the situation. Shez sighed and left the room.
Alcryst strolled next to Julius and held out a paper bag he’d been holding, “I know you don’t want to Morgan’s side” his teammate said, his other hand reaching to adjust his collar slightly, “but you need to eat, the healers told us you overexerted yourself.”
Julius took the bag from him, “thank you.” He said with a nod, Alcryst gave him a small smile before he turned around and exited the infirmary.
The hours seemed to tick by slowly, the food he’d been given was long gone and he found himself pacing the around the room until he picked up some of the books available from the infirmary, most of it of medical knowledge from other worlds. It kept him occupied for a while.
Still, Julius kept taking his eyes off the books to check up on Morgan, a wave of disappointment washing over him each time as the mage didn’t move an inch. He closed the last book after he finished reading it and set it down with a sigh.
Healers came by to check up on Morgan, Julius watched them.
Julius only left Morgan’s side once, only to clean himself off and after that he remained by his boyfriend’s side for the rest of the night.
It was nearly morning when Julius heard the shuffling of blankets and a soft groan as Morgan slowly sat up, he blinked, purple eyes sleepy with confusion.
Julius’s heart fluttered and he wrapped his arms around Morgan in a hug, earning a surprised sound from the mage “I’m so glad you’re awake my love, I was so worried!” He whispered, holding him a little tighter.
“Um..” Morgan’s hands didn’t return the hug, instead they grabbed the prince’s shoulders and gently pushed him away. Julius looked at him in slight confusion before his heart nearly stopped as he took in Morgan’s expression.
His eyes were empty of the love they used to convey whenever they saw Julius, instead they were replaced with extreme confusion.
His eyes lacked recognition.
As if Morgan didn’t know who he was…
It couldn’t be, Julius’s heart pounded, his hand unconsciously reaching to clutch his chest as if a spear had pierced it. He couldn’t block out the next words that Morgan spoke, he didn’t want to hear it, didn’t want it to be true even as the evidence spoke for itself.
“I’m sorry… but who are you?”

My OC Estelle, daughter of Julius and Ishtar
Estelle inherited a powerful lighting ability from her mother which was further amplified by her father. (She might have a mark somewhere idk)
She has a great understanding of her power, even being able to control people's bodies or read their minds by interperating the signals in their brains. (it isnt something she likes to do often)
Estelle has been struck by lightning... several times but it has little to no effect on her as she's able to absorb it. (her parents freaked out the first time she was struck by lightning) She can also travel between bolts of lightning.
As a child, her power was too much for her to control which had caused her to accidentally kill people by touching them, leaving her withdrawn and afraid to make connections in the present. She hates physical contact, being reminded of charred bodies whenever she touches someone (😔trauma)
She holds back her power during battles, afraid of going too far and hurting innocent people. She keeps her emotions in check, knowing her power is tied to her emotions...
