I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again but it is absolutely an example of civilizational inadequacy that only deaf people know ASL

it’s weird how the majority of people are totally chill talking about top surgery but the second you mention bottom growth they have to theatrically gag and tell you how gross and disgusting it is and they don’t want it/want to hear about it.
i wonder (terf rhetoric) what could possibly (radfem’s obsession with dicks) have caused people (bioessentialism) to consciously or subconsciously (people assigning moral value to genitals) have that reaction (it’s terf shit).

I don’t believe you should strive for perfection in your art. In fact, I think you should avoid it.
It’s not a goal that can be reached, because perfection can’t be defined. What is perfect is different for everyone, and those visions often contradict each other.
Attempting to conform to even one person’s idea of perfection (even if that person is yourself) is not authentic to you or your work, and you’ll likely fall short while selling yourself short.
Don’t reach for perfection. Your work benefits from your own unique touch, whether it’s a misplaced brush stroke, or a note you can’t quite hit, or sentence that just won’t flow. These are the things that keep your art tethered to you. These are the imperfections that make your art yours

I feel a lot of people have moral systems that are completely detached from centering avoiding real harm to real people and are mostly based on completely arbitrary obsessions with symbolic and abstract "wrongs" and gut feelings, and then they join progressive politics and make an absolute fucking mess out of everything with their weird little moralist obsessions that actually don't help improve anybody's life or serve any purpose besides making a few people feel morally superior. This is why for example anti-kink politics went from having a pretense of being about protecting vulnerable women from abusive men to just being very blatantly "if you have ever done kink at all you're ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew".

people on here are so obsessed with trying to “moralize” every aspect of fiction i s2g….. did y’all read euripides’ medea and go “i don’t know how you can justify medea’s actions :/ she was a horribly abusive and manipulative mother :/ she literally killed her own children :/ how can you people act like it’s ever ok to read euripides :/ i guess you just like killing children i hope you never have kids you monster :/ please explain how you think this is okay :/” like y’all really never progressed beyond those storybooks you read in elementary school designed to teach children Moral Lessons huh

Forget pre internet! My attention span has gotten much worse over the last few years! Stress will do that. So will lack of recent practice.
Regardless of what kind of brain you’ve got, memory and focus are like a muscle. You can exercise them and build them up, but you can also let them get flabby.
And yes, brain chemicals. Need hit of success every 30 seconds. Brain go brrr. Cell phone game good. Writing novel bad.
But I still finished a novel after years of never successfully doing so. I did it by working on stamina and sticking to tasks that aren’t instantly rewarding, a thing my type of brain is very bad at.

TBH, the quantity of minimalist decluttering/organization gurus and rural life cottagecore vloggers out there tell me that The Youth aren’t happy with modern life either.
I think anybody can retrain even now, but it may take some radical decisions about how we spend our time.
The most clueless articles present this as all about willpower and youth=bad, but I think it’s more likely to be a problem of How Make ND Brain Go Brrr Without Clicky Game??? and the like. And a problem of massive background stress levels. And of unconscious assumptions that a Good™ person would be keeping tabs on depressing world news 24/7. I think it’s more about kindness to oneself and managing emotions than the sort of stiff upper lip nonsense one often sees.

Please don’t attack normal Chinese AO3 users.
Chinese readers like myself are also desperately calling for the vote now on our own social media(weibo and qzone), what Tiffany G says doesn’t stand for Chinese Fangirls.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fcb5f45813123d30daf6b0472c3f8276/055917bb29bd5c84-10/s640x960/d3e7626508aaf85686ea574da079ee655e560665.jpg)
We are actually more concerned and scared than ever for if she won she might giveaway Chinese AO3 writers’ personal data to certain people and lead to horrible things in the real life.
SHE IS WORKING IN A GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a462c743b210b68757727b0886b66c9a/055917bb29bd5c84-a5/s540x810/9dbf6d1dff35ab6954d41b483053efecca668b40.jpg)
Please vote for the future of AO3 and the freedom and safety of Chinese writers. And please don’t take Tiffany as a average Chinese fangirl, don’t attack us in a dark time like this.

We are just like you. We don’t want to be lonely islands.

Taking T didn't ruin my singing voice, and frankly I'm sick of folks panicking and ignoring the fact that cis boys go through two or three years where their voices are fluctuating and cracking and changing before they settle.
Your voice isn't ruined, it's changing.
If you want to make that transition easier, you gotta keep using it. Sing! Even if your voice cracks in goofy ways. Even if you have trouble placing your voice comfortably. It gets easier, I promise. Get a voice teacher (if you can) who has experience with vocal changes for pubescent cis boys if it's really making you anxious or if you're having a hard time controlling it.
To be clear, I'm not trying to be dismissive of people's emotions, nor am I trying to tell you about your own experience. If you feel something intensely, that's fair and valid. Respectfully, you should unpack that with a therapist or supportive peers.
However, when one of the main TERF tactics against transmascs is convincing trans guys that T makes you Worse in a Variety of Ways, and that you'll be ruining your body if you take it, I am EXTREMELY dubious of how many people online report any part of their body being ruined by T. Sounds suspiciously like TERF shit. And, yes, even Actual Trans People can play into TERF talking points. I'm begging y'all to stop the rampant fearmongering surrounding T.
So, after nearly a year being on T, I'm here to say that YES my voice cracks and YES my voice fluctuates and YES sometimes it feels like I have to relearn everything I knew about being a vocalist, but goddamn if I won't have fun figuring it all out, because I know this is just one stage of the transition I'm going through, and it's worth it.

hi! a propos this fandom drama with deadcat and ao3, i noticed some people who follow her say that there's terf language in the ao3 mission statement? i read through it, and i dont see anything terf-y, but i came to you to ask if you see something, bcs im really bad at discerning these things and you're aomewhat of a very reliable source for ao3 info for me? im sorry, im just rly not sure what to think here, and im v unsure about my own ability to recognize terf rhetoric. i love your blog btw, its the highlight of my day, all the discussions that appear!
--
Aww, thanks, anon.
I'm assuming people are throwing around "TERF" as part of throwing globs of mud at the wall to see what sticks.
OTW has always talked a lot about fandom as a women's subculture, and I presume that's the theoretical evidence. In more recent years, it has become increasingly clear that AO3-y fandom is more an AFAB subculture than just a women's one, but even then it's still overwhelmingly female according to any demographic data we have.
OTW has, over time, modified its language to be a bit more inclusive of the many trans people in our communities, but people constantly whine and want the female focus removed entirely. It's like those dudes who show up at a knitting club and demand people say that knitting Isn't Just For Girls because they feel uncomfortable being associated with something girly. The only one calling you not a real man is you, dude.
If people don't want to be associated with a Place For Women's Writing, then they should probably find an archive that isn't named after a Virginia Woolf quote about the very same.

Oooh uh huh tell me more abt how progressive you are for thinking that anime is inherently corrupt and degenerate. Yep yeah keep talking like the only form of Japanese media to ever exist is anime and it's all evil and problematic. Clearly Japan is the only place ever to have morally corrupt media you are sooo brave for saying that. Do you want a cookie? Do you want us to throw you a party? Do you want to pull up the fake Hayao Miyazaki "anime was a mistake" quote again?
