Meet the Mona Lisa of the Prado, the earliest known copy of Da Vinci’s best portrait. Similarity in the undersketch of the painting indicates that this was very likely painted concurrently with the original Mona Lisa, by a student of Da Vinci.
There is much controversy in the art world over the question of whether or not to clean the fragile Mona Lisa, but her sister has been restored and some fairly odd later alterations removed to show the original vibrant colors and lighting. Some details, such as the sheerness of her shawl and the pattern on the neckline of her dress, have become utterly obscured in the original, but in the restored copy they’re perfectly clear.
It blows my mind a little bit to look at these two sisters side-by-side and imagine how much vivid detail could be hiding in the Mona Lisa under 500 years of rotten varnish.

Okay, listen, here is how college actually works for those of you who are skeptical when they see all of the posts about people skateboarding in hallways or climbing up the sides of buildings or wearing pajamas to each class (coming from someone who’s in her sixth year of being a student, sixth year of being in student government, and is currently going to grad school to get a degree in higher education):
There are going to be rules.
Usually these rules are dictated by your individual department.
i/e: As an Education Major in my undergrad, I wasn’t allowed to post any photos of alcohol, etc. on social media and I could only be late so many times/miss so many classes. I know Poli-Sci Majors who had to dress up every day, as dictated by their department. Etc.
Other times, they’re dictated by your specific class:
Specific professors will have their own policies regarding dress code, food in the classrooms, using computers/phones, etc.
And then there are the general overall college rules:
No, you’re not allowed to streak, no, you’re not allowed to haze another student, no, you’re not allowed to do a stunt that could cause public harm.
These rules are usually very black and white which is good news for you because that means anything that doesn’t fall into said black-or-white rules is allowed. If it doesn’t say you can’t, you can!
Your department doesn’t care what you wear as long as you’re clothed? Go ahead and wear that Pikachu onesie or those sweatpants and coffee-stained shirt or dress up like Freddie Mercury. I’ve worn Batman footie pajamas, a Batman costume, a Mrs. Frizzle costume, various t-shirts with cartoon characters on them, etc.
You have a noise level in your dorm but no visitor-limit? Pack that dorm with all of your friends and marathon Friends all night while drinking (if you’re over 21) and eating from a tub of ice-cream.
You want to do something ungodly stupid like play poker in an elevator, LARP across the campus (check with your campus security on its fake weapons policy), blow bubbles from a rooftop just to see what would happen if dozens of students down below are randomly pelted by thousands of bubbles (*snickers*), break into a random dance number, etc.? You can.
As long as you’re following the basic rules which, more often than not, are just for public safety, you can do just about anything!
And if you’re a chaotic evil and don’t care about the rules, you can do even more things, you’re just going to get punished.
And if you’re unsure on whether or not you can do the thing and don’t want to ask an adult (or an adultier-adult as we’re all technically adults) if you can do the thing, go find a student government representative. We’’re students, just like you, which means we’re just as tired, just as stressed, and just as willing to do the thing as you are. We’ll let you know if you can do the thing and if you can’t do the thing but the thing’s hilarious, we’ll help you find loopholes to do the thing. At least I will but I grew up watching Bugs Bunny cartoons my whole life sooo—
tldr: College isn’t a madhouse of anarchy, there are rules and you need to follow those rules, but anything outside those rules is fair game so feel free to dress up in that horse-costume with your friend and run around the campus because there’s nothing legally saying you can’t.
Remember: “If it’s not in the rules, it’s not a rule.”
Be the Remus Lupin of your campus. Know the rules inside and out so that you know the loopholes inside and out.
It occurs to me that I probably shouldn’t be telling you all of this but it also occurs to me that there’s nothing in my college’s rules saying I can’t tell you all of this sooo
Good luck, be safe, have fun

One of my Metropolis friends asked me, "If Penguin's family practically founded Gotham and has lived here for years, why does he have a British accent?" Listen. Today I woke up and there was a humungous Man-Bat creature hanging from my ceiling, while outside a snowstorm raged in the middle of the summer and a cloud of hallucinogens hung in the air. We can't worry about things that are just a little odd around here! Also... it's because he went to boarding school. #OnlyInGotham

This right here, is great.
Alright so I’ve gotten a couple of asks asking how I write so well and what my process is. The truth is I don’t write well and I don’t have a process, and if I did it most likely would be at extreme odds with everything about you. But read on anyways if you wish.
First of all you never have a good idea staring at a piece of paper or a blank screen. Carry a journal with you or use your phone to write down all of your ideas in one unorganized place that you can filter down to something that seems like writing later.
Secondly there’s the fact that writing is never perfect or surprising or unique when you’re the one who wrote it and has proof-read it a dozen times, so it always helps to have a fresh set of eyes (I’d be willing to help if needed).
Finally there’s the fact that you need to actually write. You’re not going to get anywhere saying “I wish I could write like you” and never attempting to. You want to know how I started writing like me? I wrote, and I wrote, and I wrote until I decided I was decent enough to start sharing with others.
Now go and do something great
(Please note: this is probably the most useless piece of advice ever given, it was fueled by my extreme sleep deprivation, six 5 hour energies, and a buttload of sugar)

It Was a Long One Today
I’ve been up since 5:00 a.m. CST. I had a four hour car ride to get to the court where my divorce proceeding was due to take place (more on that later) and then a four hour car ride back. I am exhausted to say the least but at least its all said and done now. I cant wait to be get focused on creating content for the first time in my life with nothing getting in the way (with the exception of a crippling mild anime addiction). ON THE HORIZON
Concept art development for my new webcomic/manga Alerion
Batman: The Fallen Price fanfic
Rebecca Original Fiction piece
daily updates to The Life and Times of a Twenty-Something
