PR 4-1 Final Poster
It was a bit difficult to include all elements that were my own but I had fun playing around with different tools in photoshop and putting everything together.

PR 4-1: IDEA
This is a rough draft of my movie poster. I’m still undecided how I want to showcase sneakers within the poster.
The movie poster I wanted to create represents a young woman, Monet, who emerges into the fashion world creating a name for herself, specifically, in the world of sneakers. Although Monet finds herself in a male dominated world, her determination lands her as a designer for the Jordan brand. Soon the world learns who the woman behind the sneaker is and seals her legacy as the first woman designer to create her own shoe with the iconic brand.
1. Concept: The story follows the journey of a young woman, Monet, as she seeks to break into the world of street and sneaker culture. Monet begins her story working for Nike as a sales associate yearning to make a name for herself in the world of sneakers. She navigates the challenges she faces being a woman in a man’s world. However, her determination leads her to the opportunity of lifetime-a designer for the Jordan brand. Her innovation and vision causes her to become known in the sneaker world and establishes her status as an icon.
2. Target Audience: Women, specifically young women and teenagers ranging from the ages of 15-30. The broader audience includes those with an interest in fashion and sneaker culture.
3. Title: “Women Were Meant To Fly”

PR 4-1: Logotype Sketches
Here I included the fonts I liked and wanted to work with that I think represent strength and boldness. Below are different layouts for how the type will be placed on the poster on or around the main image. The color palette was inspired by a sneaker created by Aleali May.

PR 4-1: Research
Because I wanted my movie to be about a young woman in the fashion/sneaker industry, I also took some inspo from documentaries and movies with similar or related themes.

PR 3
Being Puerto Rican, I found that this project would be a great way to integrate my culture with this assignment. When thinking about a mask that would hold significance for me, I immediately thought of the vejigante character and the vibrant masks that Puerto Rican artisans make for the carnivals held on the island. The colors I chose are a combination of colors typically seen on the masks. The stripes on the horn represent the stripes on the puerto rican flag. The star in the middle is representative of the island and of the star on the flag. The polka dots I placed throughout the mask serve to be a bit more decorative and were inspired from other masks I had seen in my research.

PR 3-1 research
My mask is heavily inspired by the vejigante masks of Puerto Rico. A vejigante is a folkloric character that has become a cultural symbol of Puerto Rico. These vejigantes are seen during Carnaval Santiago and other festivals. The word vejigante comes from two words meaning giant bladder, due to the fact that these characters would hold cow bladders as a weapon during parades and celebrations.
This tradition dates back to medieval Spain. The vejigante represented the evil Moors who were defeated by St. James. People dressed as demons or vejigantes in a procession to honor St. James. When the tradition came to Puerto Rico, both Taino and African cultural influences were integrated, with the Tainos being excellent mask makers and the Africans influencing the procession with bomba y plena, traditional dance and music of Puerto Rico.
Being Puerto Rican, I found that this project would be a great way to integrate my culture with this assignment. When thinking about a mask that would hold significance for me, I immediately thought of the vejigante character and the vibrant masks that Puerto Rican artisans make for the carnivals held on the island.
