I worked with an amazing, dedicated group of 17 high school students this week at Queens Council on the Arts. I taught a workshop on fiber arts and the hierarchy of media in the contemporary art world. Not only did we have enlightening conversations about contemporary artists and the assigned readings, but each student learned new techniques. They each created a weaving, a handmade book, and indigo dyed fibers!

More creative weavings from my workshop with high school students at Queens Council on the Arts! Inspired by Sheila Hicks and other contemporary artists working in "craft"-based media. I was a part of this program as a high school student, back when classes were held at the Queens Museum of Art during the school year and at the beach in the Rockaways in the summer. Happy to be contributing to the program with this workshop on fibers materials. (at Queens Council on the Arts)
