In light of some of the many things happening across the world this year, I thought this Pride Month needed a special illustration.
Happy Pride Month, may we all stay safe, look after each other, and keep painting our rainbows, no matter what. 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

So what’s the cassgender flag? I’ve seen many different versions but I don’t know which one is valid. Or are they all valid?
This is the official flag:
Tumblr media
Although there are plenty of variations none have been "officially" adopted to my knowledge.

I identity as cassgender, but I'm scared I'm just cisgender and trying to be "special". Am I?
Almost everyone goes through a degree of imposter syndrome, the only thing that matters is whether you feel like cass is the right label for now.
Nobody's going to hate you if later down the line if you realise it's no longer the best way to describe your gender

Hello! I want to support my significant other fully, and they are cassgender. So, I’m curious, is there a National/international cassgender day? Yesterday was non-binary day, so I was curious if there was one for cassgendered people. I can’t seem to find much about it…
There isnt currently a specific day for us as far as I've heard since we are considered a "rarer" or more "uncommon" identity. So typically we'll celebrate under the broader days like nonbinary day etc.

Hiya, I just come across the term Cassgender and trying to work out if it’s for me. For a while I was considering myself Transgender and then Agender but they didn’t really feel right?? I know I’m not a girl 100% even tho I’m afab and I love using he/they pronouns but I don’t wanna be a boy?? I don’t care about gender at all. I just like being called a boy. And then my clothing is very fluid. One day I’ll dress very femme, other days I’ll dress very masc and it’s just how I feel on the day. I’ve been confused for a while and was wondering if you had any words of wisdom??
I'm unbelievably late to this sorry!
Its gonna be something that takes time for you to figure out honestly but my advice is to just keep exploring and learning and give yourself time

So uh, I don't know if I'm actually cassgender, or agender, or any other gender label, or I'm just a cis who is questioning (I'm AMAB). But there's this thing just happened to me. So basically I'm in this private discord server with very wholesome people - and when I addressed my views on "gender" (How the identity aspect of it is different than societal norms, and how the view society has is simply an abstract construct to discriminate people. To me, each person has their inherent identity, and that does not make them "guy" or "gal" in society's eyes. It's just makes them, them. Who they are.) - they did something amazing for me.
"If you'd like, do you want to be called by varied pronouns? Maybe, that will make you feel more in peace with your identity, and not only tied with the "view" society has on you?"
I was so over the moon. They actually accepted my actual preference (I always went by he/him because I have no problems with it, so I never bothered to change it) and made it a thing for the whole server.
This is just becoming a rant at this point, but still, I could never have thought that a few people online can make you feel this much happiness, instead of someone irl. If there are ocassgenders reading this, please don't force yourself. Do whatever you want to feel in tune with yourself. I can say it makes your whole life better. Very fast.
Also I apologise for my non-linear wording. I tend to digress a lot.
I hope we all have moments like this

I just stumbled upon this blog after finding out what cassgender was yesterday, and I just wanna say I really appreciate it and it makes me feel valid :D I never experienced gender euphoria before yesterday and it felt so amazing to finally have a word to label what I've been feeling basically my whole life. I hope my fellow cassgenders have a swell day :3
That's awesome! Welcome to the family 😊

@honeyc-akes I'll have to respond to you like this because this is a side blog but this is a great question!
Ultimately, how cassgender defines someone IS a preference within itself. All labels are, really. What it really comes down to is experience. One's unique experience with gender identity dictates how they view and use the labels that they do. What are identities such as nonbinary or agender of not simply labels for your own experience?
Simply put, what you might see as a simple label others might truly connect with as part of their identity. I for one struggled with what to call myself for a long time. Genderfluid or agender never truly felt right for me, but cassgender finally gave a word to my experience with gender. Like any specific label, cassgender isn't for everyone or easily understandable for everyone. It's for the people who need it. And the people who identify with it, ultimately dictate what it means for them

The problem with a lot of the really stupid and unnecessary queer discourse that was popular on Tumblr and is resurrecting on Tik Tok, is that it centers identity labels over people.
The focus becomes what's the proper definition of a label and who is allowed to claim it, when the whole point of putting a name to identities is creating a sense of community. No one is harmed by including people who come in good faith, and are potentially crucial allies in the fight against oppression.
Trying to fit people into palatable, neat, boxes of sexuality and gender (and believing there's always a clear dividing line between the two) ignores 2 truths: 1) that identities are just as much influenced by lived experience as they are inherent to someone's being. 2) no one persons identity can be invalidated by another person's identity.
To simplify: when in doubt, mind your business.

What are the official color of the Cassgender flag? And how can more people be aware of the Cassgender identity for the flag to be seen more?
Black, pastel orange, pastel green, pastel blue
Tumblr media
Its basically the same as spreading awareness for anything: talking and sharing until it becomes more recognised

No: “Dysphoria isn’t what makes you trans, gender EUPHORIA is what makes you trans!”
Yes: “The only requirement to be trans is that you do not 100% identify with the gender you were assigned at birth. Arbitrary standards of transness only serve to hurt trans people and give cis people more ammunition against us. Stop hyping up these arbitrary standards and milestones.”
