I have just finished The Secret History and Henry and Richard have so much subtext going for them and it’s reciprocal and requited. Henry yelling at the nurses, their drives alone, leaving him the car, reading to him, staying with him, stalking him to find out where he’s been???? Richard and his devotion but also the quieter manifestations of it, seeing Henry at the Corcoran house and knowing he’s in pain instantly. Then he goes out of his way to steal pills, keeps them in his pocket for Henry…. Crazy book.

One could only recall her name by a brief whisper of an annual winter's snowfall or hushed murmurs of folks stuck in a puzzling paradox still searching for answers..or perhaps awaiting a closure that never came.

For Thomas Shelby, her name was a silent prayer, a plea conveyed in every syllable of her name like a sonnet.

River Jude Darling, was his sacred symphony and he had kept her as such even while she still sauntered around the gritty district that she had never belonged in.

I've always imagined what It would be like for Tommy to fall in love with someone with the same air of tragedy that he has acquired. River Jude Darling will slightly stray away from the expected naive ingenue that's become a common trend..I wanted to write a character who is iridescent yet intricate...not exactly morally complex but having to abide to morally ambiguous rules in distressing situations. River Jude Darling is a world away from Tommy Shelby and that's exactly what lures him into her eccentric, captivating yet devastating world of inventions, poetry, lace and elegant defiance.
