She loved the sea. It was a mystery unlike any other that managed to capture her imagination. It could be gentle and soothing, it could be harsh and cruel. It did as it pleased and she adored it. 

She stood on the shore as she watched the waves tumble over the sand and smooth out until flat as if reaching out to her, daring her to come closer as they twinkled in the bright sun. It was hypnotic and slightly dizzying. She stepped closer, allowing the waves to wash over her toes. A smile, warm and familiar, slipped over her features. “Hello there…” She said quietly. “I know I’ve been away for too long. It’s very difficult to come to a beach in the dead of winter.” She knew the waves couldn’t speak, try as they might. The waves simply crashed and rolled, filling her ears with a comfort she had missed.
