“Noelle, hi,” Nathan greeted Noelle warmly, smiling as he felt her excitement. She had a wonderful way of making him feel welcome and included, and he appreciated those kind feelings. “Thank you for having me. I'm really happy to be here,” he said as he stepped into her lovely home, carrying the apple pie he had brought along. He always made it a point not to show up empty-handed, especially for a Friendsgiving party. “How are you doing? By the way, you have a beautiful home.”

"Oh my god, hi!" Noelle beamed as she opened her front door to greet her guests. "I'm so glad you could make it! Please, come in and make yourself at home. We have plenty of food, drinks, desserts... Oh, I have little coloring books and things for the kids, too! Thank you for being here."

"Multipurpose indeed," Nathan agreed with the salesman after hearing the pitch. At that moment, he wasn’t sure what to think of the presentation, but he appreciated the man for doing his job well. "Snow and sledding aren't the first things that come to mind when I think of surfboards, but I understand your point," he said, a familiar grin spreading across his face. "Is there a particular type of surfboard that you think would work best for sledding, or can all of them be used for that purpose?"

"Although, it's like rare to get, like, a lot of snow round these parts. I'm telling you, these surfboards are multipurpose with their deattachable fins. Easily can be turned into sleds for your snowing adventures. Honestly, you're getting a bargain if you think about it... surfing in the summer, sledding in the winter." Jared said to the customer, always the salesman. "They'd make perfect Christmas presents to those you know in snowier regions too. All regions if you think about it, as I said, multipurpose."

Nathan was shopping at the grocery store for items he needed to bring to a Friendsgiving party. Standing in the seasonal aisle, he was lost in thought, his gaze fixed on the various gravy packets on display. After a moment, the sudden questions from the woman beside him jolted him back to reality. "Oh, well, I can honestly say I've never been asked that before," Nathan admitted with a sincere chuckle. He paused for a moment to consider the unique question. "I would say anything related to Christmas, like Santa cookies or gingerbread houses," he said firmly, a gentle grin on his lips. "What about you?"

Lalita wasn’t really the type of person to celebrate the holiday season. She didn’t have any family in town currently which was a good thing and it meant that she was usually on her own. Another good thing if you asked her, but it was nice to be invited places once in a while. Thought she’d never say that. So instead she had this way of trying to deflect on the holidays. “ what is your Thanksgiving food deal breaker? Like if they bring this they are not getting an invite back? “ She doubted a food would be that bad to get disinvited but it had her curious either way

The beach was a constant destination for Nathan whenever he wanted to connect with his feelings, and today was no different. He had recently received a letter from his old military group, and memories from the past flooded his mind. As he took a sip of his warm coffee, a familiar voice jolted his attention. "Linnea, hi," Nathan said, his already shy smile widening. He couldn't help but focus entirely on the beautiful woman before him. Their meeting in front of the dance studio was a beloved memory, and he was thrilled to see her again. "It's great to run into you. How have you been lately? Are you still putting in long hours at the dance studio?"

Linnea had a bit of a free day. Her aunt told her to get out of the house and that she’d watch Nico for a bit just so the dancer could just sort of enjoy a day without teaching or anything else. She was probably going to go grab a record after some coffee, maybe see how busy it was at the beach. Just sort of have a calm day of sorts. As soon as she grabbed her coffee she was met with a recent familiar face that made her smile. He was a very memorable face and she was glad to run into him again, because to be entirely honest he was quite good looking to her. Even though that should have been the furthest thing from her mind. “ oh hello again. “ she smile. “ it’s really nice to run into you again so soon”

"Hi," Nathan murmured under his breath, his friendly grin widening. The way the woman called him handsome was very kind, and he wished he could have appreciated the compliment more. As seconds passed, the compliment faded from his mind, and he focused on the lounge singer's next set of sentences. "That's good to know, and I don't need any help at the moment," Nate replied promptly to her question. "I've seen you perform here multiple times, so I thought I'd ask if you're going on stage again." As a surgeon, he always felt the need to explain himself, wanting to ensure others felt included and informed. "Now that I know you have an hour off, what are your favorite ways to pass the time and relax?"

Halloween had delivered Lia many treats, and this was one of the days where she had to come crashing back to reality. Considering the fact that it was her day up on the mic it was a long time before she realized she had only one more set left and now she had a good hour to just relax any way she wanted. This was going to be a nice little moment to kick back up and get a nice drink of water in to calm down her throat too.

She looked up at the new person calling her attention and an easy smile slipped onto her face. "Well hey there, handsome. I have one more set left for the night, got an hour or so to relax until I go back on. How can I help?"

"Great," Nathan mumbled under his breath, a sigh of relief escaping his lips. He truly meant it when he said he wouldn’t let the other cup of coffee go to waste, and he was glad it found a home in the woman's hands. Just as the surgeon was about to wrap up the conversation and continue on his way, his eyebrows raised in amusement at her latest inquiry. "Beatrice?" Nate announced the name again, trying to fully grasp the woman’s presence. He sensed that the coffee she held didn’t belong to her, but he chose to play along for the sake of their interaction. "Hypothetically speaking, I think you could definitely pull off a name like Beatrice. You could go by 'B' or 'Trice' for short." Without missing a beat, he turned his coffee cup around to show the name written on it. "What about me? Do you think I can pull off the name Nathan?"

Riley had been trying to be good, mostly for Cole's sake. She didn't want to drag him down, ruin whatever he had going on here. But the universe had been testing her at every point. Waiting casually in the coffeeshop, her arms folded as she just people watched, waiting for an opportunity of some kind. Whether it be a forgotten wallet or dropped earring, something that would bring in some cash.

But from the moment the dark haired man entered, Riley's eyes flickered back to him time and time again. She was watching him and clearly not so subtlety as their gazes collided. Leaning forward slightly, she glanced between him and the coffee on the counter.

"Yes, it is—" she lied without thinking, stepping forward and taking the cup into her hands to claim ownership. Twirling the coffee in her hands, she spotted a name very crudely written on the side. Beatrice. "Do you think I could pull off a name like Beatrice? Just hypothetically, I mean."

Nathan needed to pick up a few new books, and the Aurora Bay Library was his primary destination. He had been reading modern historical fiction novels during his downtime at the hospital and had just finished his latest purchase during one of his longer night shifts. As he entered the library, he followed his usual routine of checking in at the front desk, but the male librarian behind the desk caught his attention. "Hey, how's it going?" Nathan greeted the other male as he scanned his library card for entry. "I have a bit of an odd question that isn't about books at all—did you happen to win the funniest costume as Sasquatch at Sharky's Halloween Party? I think I saw you remove your mask for a second, but now I'm not so sure."

After the Halloween festivities, Nathan could finally rest at home and recharge his social battery. He spent time relaxing and engaging in low-key activities he enjoyed, but now, it was time to leave his house and treat himself to an evening out. Without a particular plan in mind, he found himself at the bar of the Golden Hour Lounge, a beer in hand. As he scanned the room, his gaze fell upon a familiar woman nearby, capturing his full attention. "Excuse me," Nathan tried to get the singer's attention with a friendly smile. "Are you performing tonight? If yes, that’s great; if not, I’m sure a night off is well-deserved."

On a crisp fall day, Nathan was enjoying a walk on his day off from the hospital. The sky was cloudy, and rain clouds seemed to be approaching. Despite this, he chose to stay outside and didn't seek shelter under nearby buildings. Before long, the buildings were far behind him, and the rain began to pour. Fortunately, he had an umbrella with him. However, a woman exiting the ice rink did not, and he felt compelled to come to her rescue. "Hey!" Nathan shouted towards the woman as the rain intensified. "Would you like some cover while walking to your car or your next destination? My umbrella can fit two people if you'd like to share."

"I'm glad to hear that! I'm doing well," Nathan replied. It didn't take long for him to examine Mikey's costume, and he quickly became a fan of her choice. "Yeah, I'll be at Sharky's tonight dressed as Doctor Strange. You're looking great, Maverick." The compliment flowed easily from the surgeon's lips; she pulled off the Pete Mitchell costume perfectly. "Should I be on the lookout for Goose or Iceman at all?"

Mikey was so excited for Sharky's party that night! The first time she ever attended was last Halloween, her first Halloween back in town in years! It was everything her child self had dreamed of it being and maybe that's why last year she went a little crazy. This year she was so excited for her costume and to hang out with friends.

Mikey heard a familiar voice call to her and she looked up, pulling her aviators up to sit on top of her head (because she, of course, had been wearing her Pete Mitchell costume all day) as she looked at Nathan. "Hey! I'm great, how are you? Oh! Please tell me you're going to the party tonight."

"I couldn't agree more," Nathan replied with a grin after the woman made a positive statement. In the short time they had been chatting, he really enjoyed their conversation and appreciated how she carried herself. He felt comfortable and liked their communication so far. His smile widened when Linnea introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you too, Linnea." His curiosity was piqued when she mentioned her time in New York. "Where did you train in New York? I spent quite a bit of time in Manhattan at the beginning of this year. Were you around there at all?"

Fully dressed in his Doctor Strange costume, Nathan confidently entered the Seascape Hotel's Halloween party. Sharky's party had been a blast, and the surgeon was ready to enjoy this next festive event. Although attending two parties in the same week wasn't on his 2024 Halloween bingo card, he was eager to arrive. After spending some time at the bar, he was drawn to the voice of another man nearby. "I haven't ordered a drink yet, but I'm open to trying one," Nathan said with a friendly smile. He soon began looking through the various cocktail options available. "Which one is your favorite from the list?"

— THE SEASCAPE HOTEL’S HALLOWEEN PARTY ; EVENING OF SATURDAY 26th OCTOBER

This week in particular Jasper had barely contained his excitement for the party he was hosting at the hotel: the first in three years. Sharky’s had been a blast, but now it was time for him to take the reins and throw another memorable and incredible party for the people of Aurora Bay. He'd spent almost two months meticulously planning the event, ensuring everything would be ready and perfect and that he could relax for the night.

Jasper was dressed in a 90s suit that had a fake FBI ID badge with an image of a young David Duchovny clipped to the pocket, a pair of fake glasses, and an ugly patterned tie to complete his Fox Mulder costume (he'd been a fan of 'The X Files' ever since it aired and was giddy to be dressing as his favourite character from it). He loved to see that a lot of the guests had also donned a costume, some he thought he recognised from Sharky's and some which he'd never seen before.

Jasper was near the bar when, over the loud live music, he turned to the nearest person and offered them a charming smile. "Hi there. Have you tried the Halloween themed cocktails yet? If so, you have to let me know what you think- call it a survey of sorts- and if not... well, what are you waiting for? They're two-for-one!"

Enjoying a nice glass of whiskey, Nathan leaned against the bar and surveyed the large crowd before him. He enjoyed observing everyone's costume choices and was relieved he wasn't the only male dressed as a Marvel character. Soon, the young woman standing beside him caught his attention. "Thank you," Nathan smiled as he received the compliment. "I'm dressed up as Doctor Strange tonight, just for some context." He took a moment to examine the other's costume, trying to figure out what she was dressed as. Not wanting to embarrass himself, he decided to ask her. "Your costume is impressive, to say the least. What are you dressed up as exactly?"

Roxy sat at the bar in her Mothman costume and thanked the bartender when he brought her a bendy straw as she requested. It made it easier for her to pull up some of the material of her costume and use the straw to take a sip of her drink.

"You know," she began, speaking to the person beside her, "I feel like maybe I should've worn this costume for a few hours before the party so I could've made adjustments because I really can't see in this thing. I would say your costume looks awesome but I can't really tell."

"Of course, I'll keep an eye out for you," Nathan said as he agreed to help her. He scanned her Halloween costume to understand what he was really looking for. "Your costume is impressive. Did you make the dress yourself?"

"Star-Lord, we meet again," Nathan said, greeting the man dressed as Peter Quill from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. As the one dressed as Doctor Strange, he was pleased to find they both shared an interest in the Marvel Universe. "If I had to wear this costume for a week, I think I would manage just fine, although the cape would definitely get in my way. How about you?"
