Carmelo Cerrelli is the former CEO for LCT, a company specializing in satellite and broadband technology. Currently an independent futures and index trader at BBT FX, Carmelo Cerrelli also takes part in a variety of volunteer opportunities for the SickKids Foundation. The SickKids Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that is dedicated to advancing children’s health treatments based in Toronto, Ontario, though the nonprofit works on a global scale. The foundation originated in 1875 as a single hospital for sick children with only 16 beds, and today it is the largest source of charitable funds for children’s health research. Though SickKids Foundation has a multitude of fundraising events, and a “create-your-own” event page, one of its premier events is the annual Great Camp Adventure Walk. This event is a 5K, 10K, 15K, or 20K walk/run through downtown Toronto that is filled with varied activities to stop and participate in along the way. Participants pay a small registration fee and agree to a fundraising minimum of $400 (less for participating children), and collect badges as they go through the multiple obstacle courses. All money raised benefits children’s health research.

The Beatles' Influence on U2
Two musical acts that Carmelo Cerrelli enjoys are U2 and the Beatles. Interestingly enough, the members of U2, like Carmelo Cerrelli, are also Beatles fans. In particular, Bono, the lead singer of U2, has long mentioned the Beatles as one of his primary influences. He has said that the Beatles were one of the first bands he heard on the radio as a child, and he has commented that as a teenager, he fully subscribed to the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” ethos. U2 has covered Beatles material in their live act, notably when they played their own version of the Lennon/McCartney song Helter Skelter on both their Joshua Tree and Love Town tours. A U2 performance of Helter Skelter in Denver, Colorado, is the first track on their Rattle and Hum live album. Bono has actually performed Beatles material with Paul McCartney himself. In 2005, the two sang “Sgt. Pepper” at the London Live 8 charity event. McCartney handled most of the lyrics while Bono took the lead on the bridge of the song.

Quantum Computing - A Very Basic Introduction
A futures and index trader by profession, Carmelo Cerrelli also pursues a personal interest in advanced technology. Carmelo Cerrelli maintains a particular fascination with quantum computing, which one day may change what machines allow humans to do. The concept of quantum computing requires one to think beyond what we believe is possible. Quantum computing allows for calculations to happen almost unthinkably quickly, thanks to the incredible data storage potential of the qubit. Unlike traditional computer bits, which can store information only as a zero or a one, qubits can exist as either of these or both simultaneously. This allows a qubit to enter a state known as superposition, in which two opposing states both exist as truth. Qubits also possess a power known as entanglement, which allows them to instantly share information with one another during processing. This enables the qubits in a system to communicate the multiple possibilities that each holds and ultimately untangle the available information into an answer. Such a process permits users to process vast amounts of data more quickly than ever before while also making available more answers to a single question than were previously possible.

The corporation recently revealed that it will partner with Chain, a financial tech startup based in San Francisco, California, to carry out the endeavor. Since 2014, Chain has helped financial firms harness the technological framework for cryptocurrency, the blockchain, to enhance their service offerings with instant, digital, and secure asset transfers. The startup will now assist NASDAQ in exploring blockchain technology’s potential in the NASDAQ Private Market, which facilitates shares trading for more than 75 private pre-IPO companies. Commenting on the partnership, NASDAQ CEO Bob Greifeld expressed the firm’s optimism at introducing the innovative technology to its private shares trading activities, noting that it stands to simplify the potentially overwhelming task of manually tracking shares.

Quantum Computing: A Leap Forward in Information Technology
In addition to being a futures trader for BBT FX in Toronto, Carmelo Cerrelli also serves as a business development manager for NTL in Canada. Carmelo Cerrelli has an abiding interest in futuristic technology, such as quantum computing. Quantum computing represents a significant advance over conventional computing, which uses transistors to process data as ones and zeros (on and off). A quantum machine's bits, called qubits, can be ones, zeroes, or a state in between. In other words, a qubit can be on and off at the same time. To handle information, a quantum computer uses basic atomic particles, such as photons or electrons. In theory, a quantum computer can do two or more calculations at once, much faster than a traditional computer. This enhanced speed is useful for encryption and decryption. Another application involves locating individual atoms inside large molecules, such as viruses and polymers; this could be useful in designing new drugs. In fact, the first quantum computer has already been built. In one experiment, the D-Wave machine performed certain functions 3,600 times faster than a conventional computer. D-Wave's makers have already signed on to sell a more powerful machine to Google and NASA.

A Brief Overview of Cryptocurrency
Carmelo Cerrelli, an experienced business leader and financial professional, works as an independent futures and index trader for BBT FX in Toronto, Canada. In his free time, Carmelo Cerrelli pursues interests in alternative energy, biotechnology, quantum computing, and cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that is fashioned out of cryptography, networking, and open-source software. Unlike traditional currencies that are represented physically in paper notes or metal coins, cryptocurrency is stored digitally and exchanged between parties through public and private cryptographic keys. Cryptocurrencies are increasing in popularity because they are easy and cheap to transfer and offer a higher level of security than physical cash. Also, because it is not issued or monitored by any central authority, cryptocurrency is essentially immune to interference from any government or country and is valued solely on supply and demand. While the most well-known cryptocurrency is the Bitcoin, hundreds of others exist, including the Litecoin, Darkcoin, and Mastercoin. Some, like the Bitcoin, have a high value per coin, while many others are worth only a fraction of a cent. Although their value is constantly fluctuating, Bitcoins have been exchanged for more than $250 USD each.
