The opening theme mentioning boom boom in your eye, then UJ getting hit above the eye by a boom mic => The Sopranos is a comedy

i like that such a large part of this episode is just chris and tony hanging out and dealing with cleanup and a lot of it is just chris and tony just talking about random shit, honestly the hangout vibe is more enjoyable to me than pine barrens probably because it's juxtaposed with so much horrible shit and there's so much unsaid between chris and tony, i think i just don't find chris and paulie's dynamic as interesting

lol this show is very good at making me go "wait this doesn't make sense" and then immediately answering my question

ok maybe i take back what i said i guess that whole segment was just about chris being high because how does tony know how to drive this? maybe he actually had to do some work for one of his no work jobs back in the day

love the show's commitment to realism, like. yeah lots of mob things have people bury bodies in the wood but uh sometimes the ground is frozen! i feel like i've seen a lot of things where someone's like on the run then tries to steal some random piece of machinery and instantly knows how to use it but no! (made doubly funny because i'm pretty sure chris has a no show job at a construction site where they'd absolutely be using one of these digger machines)

ok wait does chris actually believe tony?? first he wonders why they even need to cover up the body, then he mentions paulie's alibi... it could just be him trying to convince tony that he believes he's innocent but like. tony was so obviously beat up it was obvious they got into a huge scuffle so like... ? it could also just be that chris really is so in awe of tony that he's willing to go along with anything tony says even if it makes no sense. god i can't get over that one scene where chris's eyes are darting around and he's trying to decide if he believes tony or not and also hide that he's high

tony you'd better fucking pray that chris can do this because if he can't no one else in your squad is going to be ok with you threatening to murder them if they touch a single hair on ralphie's head and then going and murdering ralphie yourself

oh my god michael imperioli did such a good job with this. so much of what's happening here is just on chris's face and he's having this journey both of trying to make sense of tony's lies and also trying to hide just how many drugs he's been taking

oh ok i misread it. i think chris knows tony killed him because. um. a 5 year old could figure out that tony killed him. but they're going to both pretend that chris has no idea who killed ralphie

goddd chris just looks between ralphie and tony and tony immediately realizes "ohhh shit this is too much, this lie is too big i really just have to tell him or i'm gonna look beyond ridiculous"

"i found him like this" right right right that's why you're covering up his murder and you're bruised and bleeding all over the place

it's really interesting to me that chris is tony's first call when before he was completely left out of pussy's death. i'm guessing it's because he thinks he can most easily manipulate and keep chris silent because of their father son esque relationship

god tony coughing and throwing up right afterwards also really adds to this not feeling glamorous or fun. tony's middle aged and out of shape, at a certain point his luck is gonna run out

the biggest thing is like, the way tony yells at everyone not to touch ralphie, if you do anything to ralphie i'll kill you, so so so many times where ralphie's done heinous things and tony either calms himself down or just completely ignores it, but this is what it takes for him to say no, ralphie's irredeemable
