Just started reading your fic ‘You Feel like Home’ and it’s really fun!
Not many people write children characters coherently and you were really spot-on, Fumi totally reminds me of my brothers (all three of them are much younger than me, they’re such menaces but I love them)
I wanted to ask if you speak any languages besides English?
Hello there!
Thank you so much for your nice words and it's amazing to hear that you like Home is where you are! 🥰
When I wrote the story, my nephew was a little wee guy and I based Fumiya a lot on him. The Pokemon obsession, the funny way he sometimes speaks, the food preferences... It's good to hear that Fumiya turned out to be relatable to actual kids. My nephew is having his 9th birthday tomorrow, wow time surely flies...
I'm not a native English speaker, I'm actually from Germany 🇩🇪. I also learned French in school but well... I can order food I guess?

One time this man approached me in a bar talking in Spanish. So I assumed he was Spanish and we started speaking, we had a whole ass conversation and at some point he was like. So what part of Spain are you from? And I said well I’m Italian actually. What part of Spain are you from? And he was like. I’m Greek.

progress can come in so many forms.
forming a routine. getting more sleep. showering more often. eating more than one meal a day. finishing an assignment on time. allowing yourself to take breaks when you need them. drinking more water. going outside more. spending more time socializing. not going to events that are draining. cleaning the dishes before they pile up.
some things seem like little steps that we barely acknowledge, but every one of them is a part of progress.

"All this time I've been heaping Akane-san on you. I couldn't let things go. I couldn't accept... her death. So I fled into money, because it was easier to think money was everything."
"And yet, you've kept chasing after me without giving up. I'll forget Akane-san. This time, I want to give myself to you."
Disambiguation / language notes about these pages, 'cause I'm seeing some talk about it!:
- The wording Koko uses at the start implies piling the memory of Akane atop Inui, lumping them together. There's no implication of replacement or confusing one with the other.
- Koko speaks of turning money and moneymaking into his whole life as his form of escapism.
- The word he uses for his decision in regards to Inui is one that means dedicating all of one's self/give one's everything.
(Feel free to ask about/request disambiguation or examination of any lines!)

what’s your opinion on koko x inui ship ? (sorry if this was asked before)
I think they’re kind of likely to become canon, to be honest.
I don’t think they’re toxic to each other, but their own individual hangups are harmful to themselves, because they won’t talk about it. It seems like they both hurt each other unintentionally by trying to do what they think they should for the other person. Making themselves miserable, because of a misunderstanding and trying to protect the other person, when they didn’t need to protecting, they needed communication.
Speaking of misunderstandings between them, kiramoran13 posted this recently and it made me 👀
I’m sure other people besides me have probably pointed this out already (I don’t pay attention to discourse around this ship), so forgive me if I’m being redundant at all in talking about Inupi’s hair:
It seems like Inupi goes out of his way to not remind Koko of Akane with the way he looks.
Whenever they stay together, Inupi looks a lot more ‘masculine’. He cuts his hair short and wears it in a more masculine style that a girl wouldn’t necessarily be likely to wear.
In all the future timelines they stay together in, he has close cropped hair and is very ‘masculine’ looking, as much as a character like Pah-chin or Taiju is. Like, I wouldn’t describe Inupi here as pretty, or attractive, or good looking. He’s handsome.
And then compare that to Inupi without Koko.
When he’s on his own, without Koko, he presents more ‘femininely’, he’s quite pretty even instead of handsome. He even opens his eyes more, and doesn’t try to look so tough all the time. At Pah-chin’s wedding, he’s wearing a suit like he did in the Toman execs meeting, but he’s not holding himself in the same way he used to, puffing himself up, so he’s just a man in a suit instead of a *manly man tough man* in a suit.
When he got out of reform school, where he was separated from Koko, he had long hair, but when they see each other again, he’s still puffing himself up and putting on a face for Koko. And the next time we see them after that, he’s cut his hair short.
That’s not a big deal, everyone changes their style up. But in the Bonten timeline, where he and Koko have parted ways, his hair is long again. In the current 2008 timeline, he’s also growing his hair out (his head was shaved down to the scalp, so his hair couldn’t really be any longer in a year and a half, because he would have to keep cutting the longer layers, or it would look ridiculous).
Kind of makes me think that’s how Inupi prefers to look, but he’s been forcing himself to look as masculine as possible (not that any hair length is inherently masculine or feminine) because he thinks Koko couldn’t stand to be around him if he resembles his sister in any way.
Even when Koko rescues him, half of his eyelashes look like Akane’s, Inupi isn’t usually shown with long eyelashes like that. Noticeably, he’s saying he’s not his sister here. I kind of wonder if Inupi cuts his eyelashes to look less pretty when he’s around Koko. His eyelashes are long when the library kiss happens, but that’s right after he gets out of reform school, before he cuts his hair.
Maybe the kiss is why he started trying to look as masculine as he possibly can.
Koko’s obsession with making money is interesting too. Because I think (?) it’s implied Koko comes from a decently well off family. The Shiba’s are well off, it seems like Taiju went to a private school from the uniforms, and Koko went to the same school as him. It also seems like his earring is gold, a thick gold rope earring like that would not be cheap. So why does he need to still make money? I’ve seen it theorised (I don’t remember by whom, sorry!) that it’s just become a compulsion for him and that definitely makes sense, him just needing to make money as a coping mechanism.
However, I also kind of wonder if he’s still compulsively making as much money as he can for Inupi. Or at least for the Inui family.
Inupi tells him that his parents (who are alive) still had so much to pay off on their house, in addition to the cost of Akane’s medical treatment. So what if he’s obsessed with making money because it’s all for Inupi?
In the library scene, Inupi says that Koko should go home because he’s not like Inupi. I didn’t really get what that meant upon initial reading, but does Inupi hang out at the library because he doesn’t have a home to go back to? Or perhaps his housing situation is precarious and he can only go back to wherever he/his parents are staying at a certain time, so he stays out all day. I don’t know the state of affairs for temporary housing/homeless shelters in Japan, and I’m not invested enough to look it up, but I think that would make sense that he sleeps there, if he doesn’t have anywhere to go home to until a certain time.
I also wonder if that’s why Inupi joined the Black Dragons in the first place, to make money and help out his parents and Akane (before she passed). When Izana ran the Black Dragons, they did deal in a lot of illegal stuff that would have made them a lot more money than legitimate work would. Of course, we know Inupi admired Shinichiro and would likely want to be involved in anything to do with him, but making money could have also been an incentivizing factor. After all, Koko got sucked in to the Black Dragons 8th generation too, because Izana wanted his financial skills.
Like, what if Koko is saving up money to buy them a new house, or pay off their debts, now that Akane is dead and he can’t pay for her treatment? Or maybe not that, but I have the feeling that Koko is definitely doing something with that money for Inupi’s sake.
Even if they don’t become canon romantically (but I mean there’s a very good chance they will) and stay as like, queerplatonic friends, I think their dynamic is very interesting. They’re so preoccupied with protecting each other that they don’t take time to think of themselves. Koko keeps getting dragged into gang shit because he wants to protect Inupi. Inupi hides himself away so he doesn’t remind Koko of Akane, because he wants to protect him from heartbreak.
But all they really have to do is talk to each other. Poor Koko has repeatedly told Inupi he forgot all about his promise, that he goes where Inupi goes, and Inupi is convinced that Koko has never, and will never move on from his dead sister. Even though everything about Koko’s actions during the conflict with Tenjiku screams: ‘why are you so fucking stupid you’re lucky I love you so much holy shit why do I put up with you just listen to me for once Inupi, you’re so dense’
I really feel like there’s something else going on there that we don’t know about yet. They’re both very overprotective of each other, but Koko more so, he even tells Inupi he’ll be able to protect him in Tenjiku. So I think there’s definitely something Koko knows about Inupi that we don’t. Their entire interaction during the Tenjiku conflict was really weird, like they’re speaking in code and you can’t understand it until you have the right keyword.
Anyway, back to that kiss:
It’s incredibly likely that Koko kissed him, because Akane told him that he should only kiss the person he likes, and he likes Inupi like that, so he does.
Now, for why he cries and says Akane’s name afterwards? It could just be straightforward and he remembers that time with Akane in the library at that moment, as it was the last day he had with her.
I have another idea of why he cried, involving Koko knowing more than the rest of us, but I might be way off, so I’ll keep that to myself for now lol. He’s probably just sad because he has feelings for his best friend and his first love’s younger brother, who looks like her, and that is really complicated.

Koko and Inui new info
I’m going to explode, literally. Please, someone pinch me.
My two favourite homosexuals in all world:
You know? I remember that in a kind of “relationship tree” of the members of the Black Dragons, it had been said that Koko was the most intelligent in the tenth generation, while Inui was the strongest physically (below Taiju)
LET’S TALK ABOUT IT PLEASE, I’M GONNA EXPLAIN MY THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT
spoilers? below the cut kjsadsajkahadj i don’t care, do as you please
