Carl Freer: "I'm going to resurrect Gizmondo" -- indeed he is
We've been in contact with Hans Sandberg, the Swedish journalist who quoted Carl Freer saying unequivocally, "I'm going to resurrect Gizmondo." This, plus yesterday's teaser, is the source of the Gizmondo mongering lighting up the Intertubes yesterday. Fortunately, all the important bits from Hans' interview are now translated from Swedish into English for some good ol' fashioned global scrutiny. As unthinkable as the proposition might sound, we bring you the highlights for your morning amusement and trepidation:
Carl Freer believes there is a still a market for Gizmondo and is "ashamed" of his failure -- he hopes the resurrection can pay back early investors Florida-based Tiger Telematics will formally own the new Gizmondo Gizmondo v2 could be up and running by May 2008 -- by Christmas 2008 we'll see "a more advanced version with widescreen" 35 titles will be available at launch, 6 are new, more on the way An "easy to use program" will allow kids to create games, save them to SD, and play them on their Gizmondo Price: $99, possibly free if Carl Freer can work a deal with a cellular provider Unfortunately, he doesn't offer any explanation of the "exciting psychic worlds" in this interview snippet
Our personal favorite has to be this, though. Carl Freer says he has a deal in place with a Chinese company in Shenzhen which will manufacture the device "on credit" on condition that they will be the sole reseller in China. Oh, that sounds like a deal alright.
Update: Plextek, the original Gizmondo device developer, have confirmed to Eurogamer that they will indeed be building the resurrected Gizmondo. Stefan Eriksson is currently not involved, Freer is. You know what this means... Gizmondo lives!

The site has 6 categories namely: Home, About, Portfolio, Freer Foundation, Patents and Contact.
Home
The Home Page is basically a directory to the other pages listed on the site. The about page summarizes Carl Freer’s career as an entrepreneur and as a philanthropist. We are given insight on all business ventures Mr. Freer has partaken in. From Co-Founder and chairman of Tiger Electronics which produced the Gizmondo- a handheld gaming console similar to the likes of Nintendo DS or Sony PSP. The game was released by the company in March 2005, was heavily advertised and was a popular topic among gamers before its release. Carl later moved on to Magitech a company that builds cutting-edge mobile augmented reality systems. It also shows that Mr. Freer also co-founded Logovision Corporation a company developed an advanced augmented reality mobile search application, compatible with most smart phones, which is licensed by many Fortune 500 companies. It goes on to Mr. Freer’s next stint as the Chairman of FilmFunds Inc a company which operates a networking site for filmmakers, financiers, actors, and fans.
We also know of Carl Freer’s breakthrough with the company Aluminaid. The company was founded in 2010 and helps persons with varying degrees of burns get pain relief and effective treatment in a matter of seconds. As inventor and founder of the company, Carl led the development of a revolutionary treatment for first- and second-degree burns and secured international patents and trademarks for the products. The bandages uses state of the art patented technology that cools a wound in seconds. From this it veers off to Carl’s more philanthropic work giving mention to his foundation and also mentioning him as a contributor to the Nordic Ark (a foundation that works to ensure the longevity of endangered species through conservation rearing and training). Listed below that is also a link to the contact page. The next available page is the Portfolio which features the logos of some of the companies Mr. Freer has worked with such as Shop It, Gizmondo and Aluminaid just to name a few. Seen on that page also is a brief description and link to the Freer Foundation and also to his patents.
The Freer Foundation
This brings us to the Freer Foundation page which is the main feature of the site since it was built to push the awareness of the charity programme. Once the more information button is clicked persons are directed to the main website of the charity. The Freer Family Tree Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of unprivileged children, through their childhood and adolescence. The foundation, started by famous entrepreneur and philanthropist Carl Freer, utilizes crowd sourcing to raise funds for an array of noble causes. One of the major projects of the Freer Family Tree Foundation, which can be found on the website, is an orphanage in Cambodia which so far has gathered more than seven thousand towards the cause. This project aims to build schools, a medical center, and more, which will certainly afford the children the opportunity to live up to their highest potential; the mission of Freer’s foundation entirely.
The Freer Family Tree Foundation allows prospective donors to browse through a list of various causes, and choose to donate to one and or multiple causes. It is founder Carl Freer’s hope that those looking around the site and wanting to donate to a cause will feel compelled to choose the one that most resonates with his or her personal experiences or goals or simply because it is a cause for greater the good of young underprivileged kids all over the world. The site currently has seven ongoing campaigns each with varying monetary targets. The Campaigns to donate to are as follows:
Children’s Orphanage Cambodia
Children Development Centre India Children’s Burn Foundation Supplies for Orphans Help Refugees The Willing Cambodia Children’s Trust Day Care Centre Vietnam
All of which have launching date July 02, 2016. It also hopes to feature a shop where one would probably be able to purchase items and the proceedings would go to any of the seven campaigns already ongoing on the website.
Patents
This brings us to the last two pages on the site which are the Patents. There are nine available including:
20110088002 - Method and Platform for Gestural Transfer of Digital Content for Mobile Devices, 20100094707 - Method and Platform for Voice and Location-Based Services for Mobile Advertising, 20100009713-Logo Recognition for Mobile Augmented Reality Environment
Should one be interested in any of the patents they are allowed to send an inquiry by leaving contact information and ticking the patent or patents they desire.
Contact
Should one wish to communicate to Mr. Freer simply fill in one of the contact forms correctly and send. This concludes a hopefully detailed description of the site Carl Freer, the reason for its existences, the various components within the site and a in depth look of the foundation that is close to Mr. Carl Freer’s heart.

Carl Freer to Launch Colors for iOS and Google Play, the World's First GPS-Based, Open-World Shooter
Carl Freer, the mastermind behind the innovative Gizmondo handheld gaming platform that enabled Tiger Telematics, Inc. to reach a $2.7 billion market cap, is back on the scene lauding a re-release of his hit Gizmondo open-world shooter, "Colors." The game boasts the world's very first GPS-based, open-world, multiplayer action feature. It's due out for both iOS and Google Play platforms soon, with a to-be-announced release date.
In Colors, players are able to play in a vibrant and ever-evolving open-world that's based upon their actual GPS coordinates (when multiplayer is initiated). Colors takes players into the seedy underground of the gangland lifestyle, offering more than 15 different storylines and an estimated 10-20 hours of single player game play.
Players begin as a no-name, low-life thug, and are tasked with building up their criminal empire. This is achieved by completing missions for various gang bosses as you work your way up the criminal ladder and hierarchy. As missions are completed and cash is earned, players are able to upgrade their weaponry and expand their territory by hiring "homies" to help protect it and generate cash flow to sustain operations.
In multiplayer, Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites enable players to carve out their real-time territories. They are able to initiate gang wars with rival gangs by infiltrating their turfs and attempting to take them over.
Colors brings a scary sense of reality to what comprises the harsh gangbanger lifestyle by allowing players to actually fend for their turf in real-time, based upon their actual coordinates. By doing so, it delivers an unfettered and advanced, location-based, open-world, multiplayer gaming experience that's unlike any other.
The release dates of Colors for iOS and Google Play will be announced in the near future.
In the meanwhile, you can learn more about Carl Freer.
