once again, i fail at this blog.

IT'S MID SEPTEMBER!

it's just now occurring to me that fall is in like, a week. which means i get to listen to stuff like phoebe bridgers & death cab for cutie & kyuhyun's "fall, once again" album & that one dj snake song about the end of summer. <3 i know it's gonna be hot for the next five weeks anyway, but i'm still in a good mood about it. the sun sets earlier & the mornings are a little colder! and i'm just about in the mood for warmer scents and using my oven!

summer was good. i guess i haven't updated since the first of july?! my week off kind of sucked since i was at home & there was a pretty vicious heatwave, but we got a new couch and it's such an upgrade from our old one. i went on a cousins trip to san diego which i would say was...overall successful, but i definitely learned who i would not travel with again. hahahah. but that's maybe not a story for the public blog. other than that, july was pretty laid back. i saw a soccer game with kristen & honor, celebrated john's bday, hosted a knitting night with tram & minnette & a new friend jenn... also ate hella bad & barely worked out, but that's ok. lol

august was buuuusy. went to outsidelands after swearing i'd retire, also went to a jazz festival (which was so much more lowkey), had a catch-up dinner with susan, took a yarn spinning class!, & had like a billion different birthday celebrations:

-dinner with toni at this popup thing her cousin was hosting. it was my first time doing one of those tasting menu type dinners & it felt hella fancy. there were some things we were confused on how to eat, & also there were ribs on the menu but we didn't know if we could use our hands?! LOL. i ended up using mine bc it was supposed to be a filipino fusion menu, & we use our HANDS! i also got a birthday shot on the house, &they gave me a fat ass shot of hennessy. -lunch with noel & josh! we got japanese curry, &then we went to the mall bc noel was buying a very expensive watch. i was already planning on buying myself a very expensive bag which is why i tagged along. my wallet was crying, but it was worth it & it was fun to hang out with the guys. :] -dinner with siblings & toni & everyone's SOs! we got kbbq. i was banned from helping plan this dinner because im the micromanager friend :[ embarrassing. but it was so awesome, they got me a cake that was covered in kyuhyun cake toppers bahah. &the restaurant staff wheeled it out which was definitely embarrassing but it's ok. -house party! not really. it was only like ten of us, but we did barbecue &drink hella &play beer pong &sing karaoke for the rest of the night. we cleaned up the yard & busted out all the seating and the umbrella, and had party favorites (filipino bbq + lumpia + little caesars LOL). oh & we even played GUITAR HERO! honestly, it was pretty healing. it was like all the best parts of family parties &no aunties there to call us fat or ask us why we weren't dating or going to med school. hahahah -dinner with parents! honestly, i've been too busy to go home and i feel super bad about it. so we met halfway and got sushi &did some shopping after. it made me happy, but i should definitely try & go back home sometime this month...

annndd now it's september!

i started playing tennis (technically again, but i haven't played since high school) & it's been a ton of fun. im so bad at sports, but i've definitely been getting the hang of it, which is shocking. i guess the only thing is im worried about getting injured so i tend not to go super hard. which i guess is fine, at my grown ass age lmao. but i do try and cross-train by doing cardio &strength training at the gym. i think it's helping more than i thought it would.

choir also started back up again! i was playing tennis last week with tram and rj and josh, & they were joking that i have the extracurricular schedule of a high school student. the only thing about choir is we're preparing for the christmas concert, so im already hearing christmas music this month. i've always been good about not listening to any christmas music until after thanksgiving, but not since i started singing in choir again. BAAHH. but im pretty excited for this concert because the repertoire isn't as challenging as last year's.

this week niki came & stayed for a few days since she was attending a conference in the area. it was actually rly fun to have a sleepover vibe going on, even if we did all sleep in separate rooms at the end of the evening LOL. we had a yummy dinner of korean corn dogs on her first night, &just caught up with...life. i haven't seen her in a couple of months since helping her move, &i worry about her sometimes bc i know she's going thru some life stresses.. so it was good to catch up, &have some reassurance that she's ok. on thursday night we were all busy, so we didn't see each other until the end of the evening, but on friday we spent the afternoon in the backyard drinking some vietnamese dessert drinks &playing genius star &cracking jokes. it was a nice start to the weekend. :]

i actually saw her yesterday too to check out her new place! she & meredith are living with a couple minnesotan friends now that i got to meet back in march. marissa came too so it was basically a mini reunion. we had a super yummy home cooked dinner & then talked shit about crappy guys at work & then played this game called in cahoots. i ended up going home first since i live the farthest :[ buut it was so nice to be all together again. i think march was the last time.. TT i've seen the rest of them on separate occasions since then, but being together as a group just hits different. sam & emily are so nice too :')) they live so far away, but hopefully i'll see them again soon.

next week im going camping! my sister was supposed to come, but she texted me today that she has covid :[ grrr. i should definitely be more careful since a lot of people i know have been getting it.. i slacked off on masking at work for sure, but people there sound hella nasty right now. so i packed a mask in my bag lol. anyway, camping should be fun. im excited to hike and cook! i started watching the kvar show spring camp today, &it really got me excited to camp. granted my gear is not that nice compared to theirs LOL. but still.

im hoping it won't be super hot at camping, especially now that the nights are cooling down significantly. i guess as long as we get the outdoor activities out of the way early, & then spend the rest of the day in the shade it should be fine. ahhhh...im excited :]

july already and i always forget about this blog. D;

june definitely had its ups and downs, but there were some pretty good highlights.

-one day LA trip for kyuhyun photoism :’) i was so happy. i got shy to take the pictures with him in it, but i got my pics with kyumae^^ also snagged the other version of restart &his time with you single, which made the cashier chuckle. and then i ended up pulling two PCs i already have… :’D one of them was his in n out picture which i love so much, so i couldn’t even be mad. toni ended up asking if she could have it to display with her kyumae pictures too, which made me so happy since she puts up with my delusions more than anybody lmao.

anyway, after photoism/buying albums we had lunch at this restaurant in the same korean plaza, and their brisket and spicy pork were so delicious. then we did some shopping at stussy &cookman and then hung out at venice beach before flying back home. since it was just a 45min flight, it kinda just felt like taking bart at the end of the day. not that i’d ever do a same day flight again…haha

-grandma’s 96th birthday! sang karaoke for literally five hours and somehow didn’t lose my voice after!!

-successfully surprised my brother for his birthday! sadly he is housebound with a torn achilles but luckily my cousins and our friends made it a success :] also made some very bomb filipino spaghetti for the occasion

coordinating it was so nuts because it was a weeknight &rush hour here is terrible. a 15min drive for me ended up taking 35, &my brother’s gf was really stalling bc he was getting hungry LMAO. she told him that doordash would arrive at 6, &we all more or less arrived around that time. so under the guise of coming down to grab the food, she came to meet us &help bring up our party trays, drinks, and the cake. he was so surprised huhuhu. we spent the night eating, drinking some crazy concoction jake put together, watching basketball &playing switch :]

-celebrated father’s day at my brother’s &had filipino food, including the best karekare i’ve ever tasted TT-TT… i wish i brought some home. we didn’t stay long, but it was nice having the whole family together &eating comfort foods while listening to smooth jazz hehe.

-had a nice sister date in livermore!! did some shopping, had kura sushi and some yummy drinks from T% :D

-spent a weekend at our parents’ and did absolutely nothing <3

-suju supershow spinoff halftime livestream!! my first time experiencing a supershow… after all these years… i had to wait until midnight here for it to start and it didn’t end until 3:30am, but it was worth it :’)) kyu looked &sounded amazing, unsurprisingly. haha. the next day my mom wanted to see fancams which was insane to me, she never used to be interested in my interests ;___; i happily showed her of course.

-ended the month with a yummy dinner at a restaurant i’ve been meaning to try, then the next morning i finally cleaned up my yard and brought out the umbrella so i am ready to enjoy the summer evenings :D except i got heat exhaustion after, which knocked me down for the entire weekend. but im feeling better now, so..!!

july should be fun i hope. i have this week off to relax, which i’ve needed. then, hopefully some yummy july 4th food, a concert on saturday, a SD cousins trip coming up, knitting time with friends, and some opportunities to sing some choral music. sounds pretty good to me :]

another fanime for the books! the weekend isn’t over, but i most likely won’t be going tomorrow, so im gonna grieve it like it’s over right now even if i do end up going lol. had a ton of fun even if my wallet hates me for buying so much stuff :’D

yesterday we got there kinda late, around 11:30 maybe. registered and then went to get food since we only wanted to check out the artist alley and dealer hall but they weren’t open until 2. so we got tacos and then walked to get some coffee and matcha at academic. artist alley was cool, it was like wading through treacle as always but snagged some really awesome art!

i ended up seeing a print and regretting not buying it, then deciding to walk all the way around the whole thing again to find it and that taking forever. when i finally found it there was a girl there talking to the artist, and eventually she moved aside to let me place my order. she noticed my bag (i wore a clear bag &put some pcs in it) and recognized the kyu pc i’d brought where he’s eating in n out and wearing the paper hat lmao. she was like “IS THAT…….” and it turns out we both love suju TT-TT and 2nd gen groups in general. we fangirled together over snsd a little bit too lol. tbh i get a little nervous showing my suju stuff in public just bc kpop stans are so vicious online. but i was happy to make another 2nd gen friend :))) anyway, besides the print i also got a couple of gifts for my siblings.

then we left and got food again bc we were hungry already. and then returned for dealers hall!

dealers hall was super tame since it was day 1. bart had a booth so we got some merch and freebies including a cute station stamp! also found survive said the prophet’s merch booth n bought a sick ass looking shirt. tbh i was amazed fanime was able to pull them, they’re super good. as for the rest of the hall, i managed to control myself for the most part even tho there was sooo much stuff. after wandering all the aisles we went home, &i managed to squeeze in the gym after all of that.

day2! we got there hella early, like 930? and went to academic again for coffee. then we returned to the artist alley to beat the crowd, and somehow i ended up buying EVEN MORE. a couple more prints, a few mini prints and some jjk stickers. then we went to the car to put our prints away but decided we were already hungry even tho we both ate before leaving home. after lunch we went to this kpop random dance thing, which was fun but i didn’t recognize any of the new gen stuff… after that, we went to one panel about detective conan and another one about jpop oricon hits of the 2000s. soo much nostalgia from that one! i forgot about music i used to listen to like morning musume and arashi and more. and old dramas like hanayoridango. middle school me was very satisfied.

after that we checked out a car hall, got some dinner and snacks, then went to see survive said the prophet! they put on a fucking show. soo good. we were legit lucky that that was just included with our ticket, like wtf. so worth it! &really glad i brought earplugs, bc rock music is louddddd.

after the show we went to one of the dance halls and just spent some time dancing around. a girl gave me a kandi matching my haikyuu hinata cosplay, which was such a sweet experience. i’ve never been to a rave so i’ve never received kandi before! she even gave me a hug lol. maybe that’s standard practice but i thought it was so cute and kind!

then we went home. i made a sandwich bc i didn’t realize how little i’d eaten all day. &now im exhausted afffffff so goodnight!

hello blog! i forgot about it :-(

i went to new york and LA since last posting in here, and the coworker who was making work so awkward and miserable left while i was in ny, so life has been pretty nice :)) today im going to dinner and karaoke with friends, and tomorrow im seeing TXT! honestly im just a casual fan, but im pretty excited after hearing the lines for the bar have been nonexistent throughout the tour LOL. i will be sad that they probably won’t play blue hour though. :’( then i think on sunday im seeing niki and meredith and we might go somewhere with an arcade >:3 and next weekend is fanime! it really feels like summer is upon us!

ahhh, and right now toni and i are in the middle of planning a spontaneous LA road trip at the beginning of june…all bc one of the photo booth pop ups out there is gonna have limited edition kyuhyun frames TT… it’s probably the closest i’ll ever get to owning any firsthand kyupiter merch unless i go to one of his shows in singapore or manila one day. i was just in LA, but i guess its not thaat bad of a drive from here. in fact it sounds kinda fun to just do a bestie day trip and cram it with as much stuff as possible like we’re kids again. spice of life after all!!

new computer!

oh yeah, this past weekend i got a new desk &a new computer! i remember how i got a laptop in 2008, and it wasn't until 2018 that i got a new laptop to replace it. only took me 6 years to replace my device this time... but it was definitely time. my laptop was lagging just from watching a simple youtube video &i would have to close every other program and tab just to get it to relax.

honestly, this is a really nice improvement. i picked it up from best buy this morning &got it all set up, made some spicy buldak for lunch and watched kyuhyun's new vlog while eating IN MY ROOM. which i really try not to do, but it was too relaxing to pass up :P

jeeez, its a lot harder to keep this blog updated than i thought it would be.

it's been a busy couple of weekends. fasting with moose went ok! i had a filling suhoor meal &got to be with some friends to break my fast. it was at justin's party so it was interesting to explain myself to people lol. the party was fun, it was good to see old qlo faces &even meet new ones! i always get along so well with people that work/worked there...

saturday was BRAHMS! my family plus toni, john, monica &andrew came to support. i was honestly so dead after, but i had such a fun time singing it. what a monster of a piece. it's definitely my favorite thing i've ever performed. we put so many months of work into it and it paid off in the end, plus it's already so beautifully composed. at dinner after, we got kbbq &kept taking shots for brahms. hahahahah

on sunday, we had a family party for grandpa's death anniversary. since we're all grown now, the cousins kind of just went off to get boba in the middle of it lol. anyway, it was really nice to see everyone even if we didn't get up to too much the rest of the time.

on tuesday marissa and i got to see niki & meredith and meet some of their friends from back home. we got dinner &then, since it was marissa's birthday, went to a park nearby and shared a fruit tart. it was really lovely & i enjoyed meeting their friends. :] it was HELLLA cold out though, all day it had been in the 70s and then at the park we needed to huddle together in blankets. wtf.

it was a rainy weekend so i didn't plan on going out at all, but on friday night kristen texted me asking if i wanted to come to a women's soccer game the next day. she &marissa have season tickets so i was like hell yeah. i know barely anything abt soccer except for what i learn from the both of them, but i found myself super into the game. i was literally jumping out of my seat whenever they made a goal lmao. my sister wants to go to a game, so i will probably be at more this season.

anyway, now it's april &it's a beautiful day to be working from home. :]

hello from work. i have a chill afternoon so i’ve been hanging out at stephanie’s desk literally the whole time.

i did go to santa cruz after all! i ended up taking a wellness day on friday bc i was soo over work, &toni was off too so we went to santa cruz. originally we were gna go to the beach but instead we just got coffee &went to random stores. the coffee place we went to was on the cliffside &connected to a church so they had like, a crucifix on the espresso machine lol. i got a drink called the our frother &it was actually super good.

ok, i ended up not finishing this update at stephanie’s desk so now it’s a few days later &im at home lol. on saturday i went to see a jazz show with the fam in oakland! it was fun, even if we goofed &forgot to make a dinner reservation for all 5 of us. luckily we snagged a reservation for our parents so we just ate at the bar. mikee & i got stuck in some bummy ass traffic on the way home which was annoying, but other than that the evening was very fun :]

sunday i went on a yarn crawl with tram &minnette and her daughter! it was rly fun checking out the different yarn stores &getting lots of inspo from the various designers being spotlighted in the shops. it was also nice catching up w tram since we haven’t seen each other this year. &now tmrw im going to a party for another old coworker lmao. tram pointed out how she &i actually only overlapped at uniqlo for two months… that place truly brings people together which is so nuts.

i just got back from dress rehearsal &im exhaaauusted. brahms is no joke. currently i am irritated bc stupid ass instagram logged me out……aaand literally after typing that it finally sent me the email i requested several times over the last few hours..

anywho. i should sleep bc i am observing ramadan for a day tmrw with my bud moose :-) & gotta wake up early for suhoor otherwise imma be struggling lol.

i hate daylight savings.

i keep thinking it's already wednesday which is annoying. anyway i forgot to update in over a week but ive been up to a few things!

last week on wednesday i went to the symphony with ravi! i've only been to the symphony three times in my life, &twice were with ravi. i guess four times if you count the time i saw the symphony free in a park. anyway, we had each gotten an extra ticket so i invited kristen since she lives right nearby &appreciates that kind of art.

i met her at her place &we had dinner + drinks before heading to the symphony hall. it was this violinist's recital so they only seated people in the orchestra, but it was close to full. she was really good! my drink hit me around the end of the first piece, which was kind of a trip. my favorite piece she played was saint-saens' introduction and rondo capriccioso. she played it so intensely some of the hair on her bow broke mid-performance and she just kept on playing. tbh i wish i could play violin so badly. i know it's "never too late to learn" so maybe i will look into lessons after all.

for the weekend i took friday off and went home. i literally loooove taking a day off lmao. i got locked out of my house so i walked nearly 3 miles around the neighborhood until my sister was heading home to let me in. in the evening we took a pottery workshop & i made a cup, an incense tray and some chopsticks holders :] i really hope they survive in the kiln because i would love to see how they turn out with the glazes i picked. that night marty came over literally to marinate kalbi with my brother lmao. it was nice to have company.

on saturday the rest of the boys came over to golf with my brother. i had the day to myself so i literally just played persona, watched kyuhyun's vlogs &evil maknae compilations on youtube, &then when my sister got home we went to the mall + michaels. i was tryna find the jjk figurines at miniso but i think i missed my chance.. i shoulda just bought them when i saw them the other week.. TT-TT buuut, i did get new yarn to crochet a tote bag! i picked purple+orange, and so far it looks really snazzy :]

in the evening the boys made the kalbi &it was soo good. i do feel kinda bad always mooching off the food they make after golf. BUT i did buy some eclairs and a tart from toni's cousin &then shared with them, so maybe i did make a contribution after all. my stomach and heart were full after.

&now this week.. i've been soo thrown off by the stupid time change. it's nice to have more sunlight after work &to be able to take evening walks! but i keep oversleeping and sleeping late. it prob doesn't help that i'm in a funk at the same time. oh well. tbh i think im going to take this friday off too because i can't stand anything right now &being at work drives me nuts. it's supposed to be sunny so maybe i'll go to santa cruz or something to regain my sanity lol. AHHHHHHHH

back from the mall! got new pants and a jacket. then checked out this kpop store down the street &bought shinee's seasons greetings for 2024. i know it's already march, buut idk i wanted it anyway because i wanted to support the business & get some free photocards. :P the box came with a secret polaroid, & i ended up pulling minho! <3 beginner's luck i guess. it's pretty cool to have this stuff so easily accessible when it was impossible to find when i was younger &more into kpop. probably bad for my wallet though..

now the weekend's over and it's time to prepare for the week :[

singing at the game went well. i got to the arena early for soundcheck and it was pretty cool hearing the announcers and seeing the lights team rehearse. i don't know many people in my choir tbh so it was good to actually socialize with some of them. i had some time to kill before my friends joined me, so i went with one of the sopranos to the bar and got myself a cocktail. it actually did a bit of a number on me before i had to go on lmao.

it was so cool getting to sing the anthem for the game!! surprisingly i was not nervous at all. i suppose performing on a stage from a young age has paid off. i messed up my part a little bit at the end, but maybe no one noticed. at least i didn't mess up the lyrics lol. marissa took a little bit of it on video, and it was kinda crazy to see myself on the jumbotron.

&the game itself was super fun!!! ive never watched a professional hockey game before, but i think i would go again. the arena was fkn cold, but marissa brought a blanket so we all stayed warm. &eventually toni and i had enough alcohol that warmed us up even more lol. they went into OT and then had to do a shootout, and in the end we lost, but we still had a good time. plus it was pretty cheap and super nearby.

after the game we came back to my place and had kbbq. toni's tabletop stove+grill has served us well for so many years now. we had brisket, pork belly, marinated pork (made on the stove so we wouldn't decimate our tabletop grill lmao), corn cheese and some banchan. niki and meredith brought drinks and marissa made palmiers for dessert (she just brought the dough &made it in our oven). it was already 9:30pm when everyone got here so we finished up pretty late. but it was really nice just sitting around the table with a yummy meal and catching up. :] i love these girls so much.

hello new blog. :]

today is saturday. it's 11:30am. im listening to p1harmony and life is good.

it's been switching between rainy and sunny all morning...it was sunny when i started writing this &now it's gloomy again. im about to go to the grocery store to grab supplies for kbbq at home with my friends tonight. hopefully it's not too crazy since it's literally a saturday at lunch.. =_=

oh im also singing at a hockey game in a few hours, hopefully i don't make a fool of myself.

anywaay idk how often im actually gonna use this blog. i really just wanted a spot to document the daily positive stuff in my life, not just when im sad or contemplative. soo yeah, expect it to be super mundane i guess. :P
