My one solid "I won't take other opinions you're wrong" take on murderbot is that it was a MISTAKE rewriting the scene where mensah followed it after the creature attack. Taking away how pitiful and sad and pathetic murderbot's narration of that whole scene was??? Why??? For what??? Why make the cubicles cool looking futuristic platforms that yes are Uncomfortable Vibes Conceptually, especially since it's naked in them, when that doesn't hit nearly as hard as it being a Cubicle that being in is Sad and Pathetic and Lonely feeling. Why take away how murderbot slunk back to its little closet and huddled in an emergency shock blanket leaking all over and was So weirded out at being checked on and was caught between being put off by her behavior and being sure SHE was put off by it's injured appearance, meanwhile she is like "oh this thing looks so sad and pathetic and hurt and HUMAN."

I've been rereading TLT and as much as I love the insane lesbian angle, I can't stop thinking about how Harrow as a child fell instantly in love with Earth.

She grows up in the darkest, saddest, deadest corner of the solar system, deprived to the point she's unable to tolerate bright light or really even much flavor in food. And she sees the face of Earth, and without understanding what she sees, loves it. my ecologist heart feels some type of way about this.

something about hoid and jasnah gets me. it's not a permanent relationship; it was never going to last forever, and that was obvious from the start. neither of them are built like that. jasnah's not designed for that kind of long-term stability, and hoid is literally immortal. they don't see eye-to-eye; they don't even entirely trust each other. but that's not the point. as hoid would probably say, the love was there. it didn't change anything. it didn't save them. it couldn't have. but it still matters that for a time, they knew each other, because they give each other what both of them are otherwise entirely lacking, at least on roshar: an equal. the love isn't really the point, even: the point is that they can at least pretend at being understood. she's the only person that i've ever met who's even remotely like me. and when jasnah is dead and gone - because she will die, and he will outlive her, and frankly she's just a speck of dust in the grand scheme of roshar, never mind the cosmere - she will be one of the things hoid remembers longest. one random person, one tiny fraction of his life. the blink of an eye. but they understood each other, for a time, more than anyone else.
