It was so amusing for Illumi that you reveled yourself to be someone “possessive”. Your crazy amount of jealousy hit him like a truck, it was so out of proportion and context that he couldn’t help but laugh at the pathetic little things you worried about.

He would entertain himself with this new side of you for as long as he found enjoyable, but of course he would snap you into reality once you cross the line. Everything has a limit and even this odd emotional attachment of yours needed to be humbled sometimes.

For real, you were so out of touch with your own lack of strength. Illumi found amusing the way you always tried to ask him things as way to discover where he was or who he was with and it was even funnier that you tried to make it “discreet”. You were so damn insecure that he couldn’t help but pity you, but he would indulge just for fun.

What was he to you? A precious jewel or something? Why were you always so desperate to show your possessive ignorance? Anyway, you were so occupied with thoughts of him that he didn’t even bother to be overly jealous himself, or at least that what he thought.

Illumi is not really good with self awareness, so he would think you’re ridiculous when he is, in fact, much worse when it came to possessiveness. He’s very hypocritical, but that’s not something he’s aware of. He likes you that way and that’s what matters.

The first time you met it was very hard to tell if you were just shy or really introverted given your simple and short answer, but with time Rafayel started to realize that the lack of openness in your behavior was actually part of your personality and it had nothing to do with being embarrassed.

At first Rafayel tried to convince himself that with a little sympathy and the occasional support of Thomas things would go more smoothly between you and him, i mean, he was charming and got a lot of interesting things to impress you with. Sadly, it didn’t matter what he did you were always very formal and unapproachable, the direct and aseptic way you responded to his comments were gut wrenching.

He even started to dose his bratty behavior around you to prevent the awkward moments that usually followed afterwards. Rafayel wanted you to at least like him a tiny bit, he waited centuries for it, but now even the small laughs you gave seemed more like fear to be fired from your new job as his bodyguard.

He carefully crafted this trajectory so you could be by his side again, he even made up an excuse to have you working for him as way to keep you close. How could you be so unfazed and frigid about him and everything he did? Most of the time it felt like he was only being tolerated by you.

Your coldness towards him was so evident that he even started to question his own expectations about you. Was it really worth all this indifference? Did he really worked this hard to be treated like with such apathy for someone that should love him? How come he sacrificed so much for someone and longed for so damn long to be recompensed with nothing but dismissiveness?

Were you really his beloved bride? No, of course not. How could you be the caring and kind girl he met in the past? Did you even like him? No, better: did he even like you? Or was it all just an idealized version of you he kept trying to believe it was real?

But even when the frustration started to kick in and rotten his heart out, he still couldn’t deny that deep down you were the one he truly loved. He could feel it in your laugh, the way your eyes wandered when you were lost in thought, or even how you hold you necklace when you were feeling insecure. Despise all those changes, he could see the other half of his soul was still there. His devotee, his bride, his lover.

How could he not notice how your eyes wandered around his face with such intensity when you thought he wasn’t looking? It was as impossible to forget that time you pointed out the moles that not even he payed attention to, even though you did it with such cordiality.

Illumi is know for being very possessive and even though for some people it might seem odd, he always makes sure you’re safe from any type of danger (despise him). It’s important for Illumi to have you physically and psychologically available for him whenever he needs, so the best way he can reach his goal is making sure no one gets on your way to hurt you or upset you.

No robbery, no fear to walk late at night, no fear to raise your voice at that man at that bar that catcalled you; You’re safe and sound, and even though he didn’t approach the topic directly you can simply feel he has something to do with the way your life is oddly calm after the relationship started.

Illumi is very attentive and seems most like a stalker when it comes to people or things he’s interested in, so of course he always get things right on point. He knows your favorite ice cream, the type of fragrance you enjoy the most, your favorite brand of shoes, the time you get out of your job, when you usually go to sleep, the name of that insufferable colleague… He notice more thing than you would like him to know.

Illumi also learns quickly. He usually don’t commit the same mistake twice, his parents trained him so he can always get his best performance. Even stupid things he don’t really recognize as mistakes, he may don’t repeat it if he notice you were affected by it even if he thinks it’s pure mediocrity. It was almost a maniac episode, the unsettling urge to have you wrapped around him was more than he could handle, so you better be prepared to get phone calls and text messages requesting your location 24/7. Make sure to be always available or at least try to give good excuses if you don’t want him coming over without any warnings. As a person who always had his puppets available, the least Illumi could do is inquisitively request you to be where he wants, when he wants.
