"I'm sorry," Raveri said. "For existing, for... being stupid, for thinking I could... could be someone that deserves anything but this."

Amogus, an unwelcome visitor in the hospicull, stayed still and silent for what seemed like eons. Was it guilt he felt? Was it hatred? If so, who was it aimed at?

Amogus bit his tongue, before taking a seat near the hospicull slab. Countless machines, dryware and wetware, were deadset on keeping this heir alive. How easy it would be to snap his neck, just like that other mutant.

Amogus stepped forward as he stood up, strong, purple-tinted hands reaching out towards the mutant heir who existed in a twisted balance between life and death.

I did this. It is my job to finish it.

Raveri shuddered. One arm of his was broken, and his consciousness had to be dampened in order for him to not feel the extreme waves of pain rushing through him at every moment. He was barely alive, but he knew what life was left was about to be snuffed out.

They both knew it would be the easiest outcome.

And yet, Amogus' hands held the heir's face not with malicious intent, not with the plan to break what little remained of him, but as a gentle caress.

A touch too soft for it to be worthy for a mutant. But Amogus didn't care in that moment, making sure not to damage the wires that keep him alive as he brushed Raveri's scarred face, moving the messed and scuffed hair away from the unsettling eyes. The eyes that... were so scared.

"I'm sorry, too," Amogus said to the individual in front of him that was simply awaiting death. Two individuals that only knew fear, that lashed out at any stimuli, waiting for the other to start the fight. But neither of them did.

A weak arm held onto Amogus as Raveri tried to hold back his tears. He was stronger than this, he didn't need to bleed out in front of his killer. He didn't need to...

His thoughts were halted as he felt a small kiss on his cheek. It wasn't just his thoughts, it was as if the entire world froze. Amogus was the perfect shade for the hospicull lights, a perfect shield for the cruelty that was the world around him.

"Wh... why...?" Raveri groaned, not wishing to know the answer.

"That's for you to find out, silly!" Amogus smiled, pulling the weak seadweller in closer, slowly in order to not damage such a fragile friend.

Raveri, flustered, huffed and looked away, trying to not show his emotions. But he held onto Amogus a bit tighter with his arm. He was so tired, so confused, so hurt, and so sick of the truth. Maybe this was just another ploy from Amogus, but he was happy in the moment, and in that fearful embrace he waited for the other shoe to drop, for Amogus to cull him right then and there.

But nothing happened.

The two kept on waiting for the other to lash out, neither willing to accept that they love the other.
