Peggy and I used two books as we traveled across Spain. The one we loved provided wonderful spots to stay/eat and little tidbits of things to look for each day. In this book by Beebe Baharami, is a great paragraph summarizing how we feel today.
“As you make your way to the center of Santiago, you may feel a bit betwixt and between, perhaps a mix of elation and deflation. But every so often as you make your way to the cathedral, someone you pass may make eye contact, smile, and offer a quiet nod, acknowledging that you have just accomplished something huge: a holy trek, a great adventure, a simplification of life, a lesson in self-reliance, a broadening of horizons, a lightening of your heart and spirit, a deepening of your trust in life, and a wild walk into nature, culture, and history, all the while enriched with the kindness and generosity of everyone you met along the way.”
From my dear friend, Keely, who we met along the way....
“I reflected today on how the Camino has taught me to trust that God will bring the people into our lives we are meant to have for the time we have and also that those we love always return to love us again.”
Buen Camino!
With love,
Diane & Peggy

We enjoyed our walk in to Santiago today. We took our time and absorbed each and every moment. It’s funny how we walked 12 miles but never felt tired.

The day started rainy but finally we saw the sun for most of the day! It is bittersweet to think we will reach the end of seeing this gorgeous landscape each day.

Friends arriving in Santiago. It is so hard to believe we will be there tomorrow. There is such an extreme excitement that we are about to reach our destination and yet such a sadness that the adventure is near its end. Tomorrow the excitement will be high!

With a 100% forecast for rain all day we decided to do this leg on horseback! We had a great time and it rained all day until about the final hour.

The view from our place yesterday. Arzúa is known for their cheese and we enjoyed some at dinner.

Even in the rain we are seeing some fun sites! Not as many churches in this area. We are actually seeing more cemeteries than we have in other areas.

Walked in the drizzle on and off today. Went through several groves of eucalyptus trees. They smell wonderful!

We traveled as a pack today. It was a nice walk today and we enjoyed that we only had a slight drizzle at the end of our trek.
