I just realised something…

The reason autistic (me) people love drama club is becaUSE WE HAVE SAFE SPACE TO PRACTICE MASKING THAT IS COMPLETELY SOCIALLY (almost) ACCEPTABLE!

and here’s why

It’s on a rigid schedule - same time, same day, every week.

It’s the same people every time - some who are also neurodivergent.

We’re either practicing masking, or delving into common special interests like history, colour theory, or fiction.

We spend a lot of time into building trust, exercising, and learning how to regulate our emotions - here, here, and just found this.

We have fun doing it! AND AND AND ALSO WE’RE GRADED ON IT

Anyway… that’s just a realisation from a very late diagnosed baddie.
