Genevieve smiled back at her, not only proud in the judgement, but in the feel of Lemon's hands just beginning to explore the planes of her body. If there's one thing she loved more than a good conquest, it was being right.
"Good. There's nothing wrong with being attracted to a man. They can have their moments. But I've found there's a certain satisfaction that you can only get with a woman." She leaned in closer, her nose just ghosting the curve of Lemon's neck. Her scent so sweet and perfumed, but with a low simmering heat underneath.
"We can keep kissing, if you'd like..." Meeting her eyes again, Genevieve teased her with a featherlight touch on top of her knee. "Or are there...any other things you'd like to try?"
lemon gasped for air as the other woman pulled away, feeling absolutely drunk on the kiss. she nodded, not sure she'd stop kissing her, even if another person walked in right this second. she moaned as their mouths met again and her hands moved over genevieve's side. she felt her body react as she felt her curves, the dip of her waist. so much nicer than the hard, muscular body of her former athlete husband.
the question that followed when they parted surprised her and partially brought her back down from her high. she took a few seconds before she uttered: "better." was all she said and she actually smiled gently. while what happened wasn't okay - at all - it was a relief that she could finally confirm her suspicions, that she was really attracted to women. it wasn't just some fantasy she didn't like in real life. she really did enjoy being with a woman. if a kiss felt like this... how would anything else feel?

"...Right." Rosa tried not to grimace. She didn't know whether to be embarrassed or offended, but she settled on a combination of both. It wasn't often she talked to Joey like that in public - usually waiting until they were back home or at least on a quiet enough street. But damnit, she was tired and the coffee shop was here...and it honestly didn't seem that busy at first.
She gulped at her drink, just to avert her eyes for a moment, but then she perked a bit more to attention when the man mentioned his business.
"Does your club have live music?" She knew it was a long shot, but a case always took priority, so she had to ask. Their most recent ghost was a drummer they found down in the subway - and they knew as such due to the small drum kit that had manifested with him.
Jared almost had to chuckle, it was like he had really caught the young woman in something. He thought he might be able to guess, but he hadn't been around mediums enough to know for sure, so he kept the talk light. If there was something to expose, he certainly wouldn't be the one to do so.
"Aha, I understand. You might want to do it behind a newspaper or something. It was rather amusing I must say." The vampire's smile reached his eyes, but it was small as not to show the small fangs in his mouth.
"If you at any point would like a cozier place, you might want to check out my bar and club a few blocks from here."

A smug grin briefly tugged at Genevieve's mouth before Lemon caught it with her own. And she responded just as eagerly. She would never force anyone to do something they didn't want to, but it was all the more satisfying when the desires others gave into happened to align with hers. And the mayor's wife of all people. Surprising, yes, but also hilarious and slightly tragic in its way.
Pulling her lips away for just a moment, she whispered "I can keep a secret." Then dove back in, snaking her fingers through Lemon's blonde hair and letting her nails gently graze against her scalp if they wanted to. She felt so good, so soft - so clearly not used to having a woman embrace her this way, which was a damn shame.
"Does it feel like what you had expected?"
lemon shouldn't be doing this. john would be devastated, her two kids could never find out and yet, she wasn't able to stop herself. "i can't. i shouldn't." she breathed in response and looked into the other woman's eyes.
she felt her body pull towards the other woman and it was late, dark and she was tired of fighting - her feelings, and fighting with her husband as well. it was as if the wall around her heart could no longer hold the pressure of her attraction.
all she said before she kissed her passionately was "please, don't tell" and then her hand went to genevieve's cheek and she kissed her, pouring all her longing, desire, and oh-so-repressed desires into their kiss and she leaned in closer, as they sat there on the couch - her husband's office couch - kissing.

Her mouth twitched, wanting to say so much more than she let herself. MJ didn't want to come off too confrontational about this. She just breathed, not trying to fill any silences until she was confident in her words.
She didn't exactly date for fun either - not the way her friends or co-workers did. Each time she said yes to a date, it was with the hope, however subconsciously, that it could turn into something long-term. But specifically dating to find a spouse...the thought left a sour taste in her mouth that she couldn't explain.
Well, actually yes, she could. Like most things in life, her standards had been influenced by her grandparents. And she knew that a successful marriage was more than just pleasant conversation. It was intimacy. Not just the sexual kind, but comfort. A kiss on the cheek when coming home from work. Snuggling in front of the TV. Helping the other get dressed when they were injured or sick. Not needing to walk on eggshells around the other because you'll know that you'll be safe and understood.
Making a judgement call without experiencing those things or knowing how they would play out with a partner...she didn't think she was capable.
His indifference about her parents' choices was at least a small balm - she didn't have to go around worrying if he thought she was inferior or needed his charity or something. But the small relief it brought melted away almost as soon as it appeared.
Finally, wrapping her arms around her midsection like she was trying to keep two halves of herself stuck together, she said in a small voice "I don't think this is going to work."
"i didn't ask you to marry me right away, mary jo." he spoke calmly, though he felt like she was kind of panicking due to his speech. he always spoke too much, and then people got overwhelmed. he knew it and yet, he couldn't control that part of himself. "i am just saying that i am trying to keep certain things for marriage, and i'm still figuring out where that line is, that line i shouldn't cross. i'm sorry if it's extreme to you." he told her and licked his lips nervously. "but i don't date for fun. i date to find a future spouse." he clarified.
he listened to her and his features mellowed. "it makes no difference to me." he stated, very clearly. he had thoughts about her parents, but he didn't think it wise to be that honest. besides, her parents' sins weren't mary jo's to carry. "it's not about fear for children out of wedlock. it's about... commitment, and about following the bible. i don't look down upon anyone else's life choices but i am responsible for mine..." he tried to explain.

Mary Jo's eyes darted around, suddenly unable to look at him. And the more he talked, the more her brain spun. Here he was making this whole speech about taking things slow, but somehow on her end things were suddenly moving way too quickly. She cradled her face in her hands for a moment.
"I-I've been on three whole dates with you. I don't know if I'm ready to marry you yet. And honestly, I don't know if I would be ready if--" Her voice broke off, and she wrung the corner of her cardigan between her hands. She knew his faith was important to him - it had been obvious when they first met. But she couldn't imagine...
It didn't matter to her if he wanted to wait for sex. That notion she completely understood. Some people had no problem with sex, and to others it was a big deal. She didn't judge. But if he considered just a simple kiss to be lustful, then what other kinds of things would he deny himself until marriage? How far did that dedication stretch? To MJ, that kind of relationship seemed rather...bleak.
And that didn't even account for the heaviest weight in her chest right now
"And if that's how you really feel..." She started again with a big breath. "I was conceived out of wedlock. Does that make you think less of me?"
bartholomew knew that he was odd. "i... i may... i may engage in that during... uhm, an engagement perhaps but i... i need to know that we're... trying to figure out whether or not marriage is what we both want." he explained and hoped it made sense. "i really want to court you, see whether we are compatible for marriage, and then make a commitment. i know it's not conventional anymore, but i really do think that if we... bring lust into this union it may cloud our better judgment. you know my faith is important to me, and i am... trying to do this right." he spoke and hoped she'd understand. "we can... discuss what we both need and when, of course, it's... it was just my gut reaction. i don't want to fall into temptation and well... you are... tempting." he teased her as he blushed a little. he was never this forward, typically.

When her firm began working with Lemon's husband, Genevieve wasn't exactly enthused. But she wasn't one to let her personal feelings get in the way of a well-paying job. Then she met Lemon and things became more...interesting. Especially when the both of them kept coming up with excuses to meet and work with each other - mayors' wives were just as important to the image as mayors themselves, after all.
She easily picked up on little things about Lemon that others apparently didn't notice. (Or perhaps simply chose not to notice.) A glance here, a lingering presence there...and a part of her delighted in the irony.
Genevieve chose not to be offended by Lemon's declaration - mostly because she had ample evidence that it wasn't true.
"Lying to the world is one thing, darling. Lying to yourself is another." But she didn't move, waiting for Lemon to come to a decision one way or the other.
🥥 WHO? lemon perkins - fc: brianne howey
🥥 WHAT? lemon is married to the republican mayor of the town/city but she is in love with a woman
🥥 OPEN TO? cis or trans women - neighbor, co-worker of her husband, best friend, local bad girl, democratic opponent of her husband, former high school bullying victim, etc.

lemon looked at the other woman’s lips, as she was breathing heavier. her hands were on the other’s upper arms and she felt the urge to close the gap, to kiss her, but if she did that she could never go back. she would not be able to deny it to herself any longer, someone else - namely the person she was dying to kiss - would also know she wasn’t straight and then she really had tasted the forbidden fruit… “i…” she breathed, “i don’t want to kiss you” she told her, but she was breathless, moving closer and her eyes darted from her eyes to her lips.

Though her friends liked to tease her, Mary Jo didn't think she was being too prudish for waiting a couple dates before trying to kiss someone. She just didn't want to rush into things - not if she genuinely liked someone. And she liked Bartholomew. Sweet, polite...a breath of fresh air from the guys who were usually interested in her.
But when he pulled away, nothing quite made sense anymore. Like the world had tilted a few degrees too far.
"No kissing...?" she croaked after a moment. "Be-...because we're not married...?"
🥥 WHO? bartholomew norman
🥥 WHAT? bartholomew and your muse have been on three dates and now your muse just tried to kiss him. however, bartholomew doesn't believe in that before marriage.
🥥 OPEN TO? female /male/nb muses - 21 or older - date, girlfriend/boyfriend/partner
WRITTEN WITH BETA / @indiestarter
bartholomew pulled back with a gasp and held his hands out in front of him. "whoa - no, no, please don't." he told the other and shook his head. "i'm... i'm really sorry but... i... i don't think we should do that without a more formal tie between us." he spoke and lowered his hands. "i'm really sorry, but i'm still trying to figure out what is appropriate while unmarried, and right now, i don't believe kissing is." he admitted and knew that this could possibly be an issue for the other person. yet, he had to stay true to himself and his faith.

"I don't know how she got in. I just know that she's there."
Maybe Rosa should have feigned more worry. But she wasn't that great an actress. And it was hard to worry when you already knew the outcome.
Tasha was the latest ghost she had come in contact with. In more ways than one - it was obvious she had died recently. She haunted to local visitor's center, hysterically trying to get someone to listen to her about something that happened in the mines. They'd tried every alternative they could think of, but ultimately knew the only way they could help Tasha move on would be to make her remember her death. And that meant actually knowing what happened.
After talking with one of Tasha's friends - whom Tasha had begged to break into the mines with her but ultimately chickened out - Rosa tracked down Eli King. He seemed like her best option for getting into the mines without having to break the law (for once). Or if she couldn't go down there, maybe he at least had the power to send out a rescue team so they could find the body.
"Wouldn't you have some power to get in there if you had good reason?"
@mutatedangels
open to: anyone // @indiestarter
plot: loosely based off the quarry/until dawn. your muse is looking for a missing person (could be their relative, friend, etc.) who was last seen in the mountains, near mines. eli is a firewatch lookout whose tower is the closest to the mine entrance.
"Those mines have been closed for almost a century," Eli spoke, mouth concealed behind a thermos half-full of lukewarm coffee.
They were sitting in the kitchenette of his lookout, the sun—which resembled a plum in the sky—sinking into the horizon outside the window and casting a deep purple shadow over all around it. From all the way up here, it was a beautiful view, if not a little harrowing. One could see the pointy tops of trees and the peak of the mountains shrouded by a cloud of mist. At this level, if you wanted to open the window and hop over it all, you could almost be convinced you'd survive. But in this light, or lack thereof, falling meant falling into an abyss of darkness.
"The chances of somebody going in there—even accidentally? Slim to none. They'd have to cross..." He trailed off in thought for a second, shaking his head. "They'd have to get a fireman's ladder or somethin' to be able to climb how tall the gates are right outside the mountain.
"And if they don't got a ladder—they'd have to go all the way around to the other side and dig their way in. I'm talking jackhammer. Construction equipment. And it'd make a whole helluva lotta noise. 'Cause there's no entrances on that side of the mountain. There's just the one. You can see it from all the way over here if you squint hard enough."

Continued from here @nanlanmo
A line of cold ran down the back of Ash's neck. Oh, she'd actually meant to come talk to them? He thought he could sweep this under the rug and move on.
Slightly irrational as it was, he dreaded if Jessica would suddenly remember an older woman in a cream suit, glass of white wine perched in her hand, and critiquing the piece in front of her with her friends far too loudly. With him at the edge of the group praying to blend into the wall. His mother originally invited him along as an attempt to spend some quality time together, which he would give her credit for...but not much.
Jessica's offer caused heat to rush to his face for a moment. He meant to chuckle, but just ended up clearing his throat.
"Oh God, no. Seriously. Don't beat yourself up for it. You've had a lot of folks come through. And I still had a great time." He clapped his hands on his knees, but before he could stop himself he added "Tell you what: I'll drop by again and you can talk my ear off all you want."
Christ, did he actually say that? He still managed to maintain his smile, but underneath his mind raced. He didn't want her to think he was trying to keep her away from her other visitors. Or worse, that this stranger her grandmother happened to reel in off the street was trying to set himself up for a private tour.
(Though maybe, deep down, that's what he did want after all.)

It was all she could do to keep one hand gripped on the mug as the man rose from his seat. No no no no no, she didn't want company. Why was he coming over here? People who talked to themselves were not open invitations.
But she kept her smile stretched and eye contact maintained - to the point she had to remind herself to blink. More often than she cared to admit, coming off as rude wasn't something that worried her. But the slight scare of letting her secret slip forced her on good behavior.
"Solve problems? Um. I've heard it's a common thing for writers. That's what I am." Though a little clumsy, she mentally patted herself on the back for finding the excuse, and sat a little straighter because it wasn't even a lie. Joey glowered at her from the edge of her vision.
@adsagsona
It wasn't of Jared's habit to sit in a coffee shop, merely because he didn't drink. Not coffee or any other human drink. In the low lighting of the shop it didn't stand out how pale his skin was, or how strange his eyes could grow in a matter of seconds. With society becoming so individual, nobody spared him a second glance. Fine with him, honestly. He'd be in his office if it wasn't being renovated.
He'd spotted the young woman the moment he'd stepped inside, but it was only when he had heard her talk that he was intrigued. His sensitive hearing might have picked up more than he was supposed to.
Jared lifted his own cup in greeting. "And hello to you. I didn't mean to bother you, your conversation was just quite interesting." The vampire smiled gently and stood, stopping at the chair opposite hers.
"Is it a way to solve problems, talking to yourself?"
