Who's the best Kaiju and why's it Mothra?
To me, the best and greatest monster will always be Godzilla. However, Mothra is a pretty close second.
Mothra is unique among Toho’s menagerie of monster for two reasons.
1) She was the first explicitly female monster in the Toho series. Before Mothra, all the monsters were either not referred to with a gender or assumed to be males of their given species. It wouldn’t be until 28 years after Mothra’s 1961 debut that Toho would have another female monster in the form of Biollante.
2) She is more of a mystical creature than the other Toho Monsters. While Godzilla and his ilk are generally considered to be prehistoric creatures awakened and mutated by nuclear testing or creatures from space come to ravage the Earth, Mothra is different.
Yes, Infant Island was irradiated by nuclear testing but as shown in 1961′s Mothra and even more explicitly in 1984′s Godzilla vs. Mothra, that nuclear devastation was pretty well confined to the coastline while the interior was left relatively untouched. To me, this means that Mothra was protecting her island and the people who worship her.
Yes, she has worshipers. Lots of them.
Chief among them are, what we would assume to be her high priestesses. The Shobijin (or in later iterations the Elias, Cosmos or just the Fairies). These diminutive twins serve as her handmaidens and translators, speaking her will to others.
Somehow, this is also a familial position as in 2003′s Godzilla X Mothra X Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS there are new Shobijin who have inherited the role of the 1961 originals.
How this is possible is unexplained. Perhaps every now and then, tiny twins are born to regular Mothers under the influence of the will of Mothra. It’s a continuous cycle, as is Mothra herself.
Mothra seems to be locked in a cycle of perpetual death and rebirth, like some kind of Phoenix. The old Mothra lays an egg, sacrifices herself to protect her people/the world and a new Mothra is born. We see this over and over again in films like Mothra vs. Godzilla, Tokyo SOS and the Heisei Mothra trilogy.
Also part of that trilogy of films is the revelation that versions of Mothra have existed since before the rise of man, at least as far back as the Cretaceous Period. This further proves that she isn’t a radioactive mutant bug but something far older and more intimately linked to the Earth itself.
And then there are her powers. In addition to her physical abilities such as firing silk, creating gale force winds and being generally gigantic Mothra also has healing powers. We see them used a few times, most notably in the Mothra trilogy when she renews the natural world damaged by the resurrection of Death Ghidora. This makes Mothra a kind of Elder Goddess of Rebirth and Renewal, a balancing force to creatures like Godzilla or a counter to truly evil forces like King Ghidorah who are all about Destruction.
She’s like the perfect compliment to the King of the Monsters.
No matter the continuity, the movie or the creators Mothra always stands apart from the other monsters as something more benign, something protective and divine with a air of mysticism and magic about her that a world ravaged by the unintended consequences of science and progress pursued without conscience desperately needs.
Thanks for the Question!

thinking about how if they had douxie use his spellcaster guitar in r*tt we could have possibly had a TUA-style dangerous high-stakes fight scene with a banger playing in the background...... but douxie could've been playing the guitar solo in whatever song was playing while he was using his staff..... now I'm mad again

17 reasons why we love Douxie
Right, who knew I’d ever turn into a full-time Douxie blog? I didn’t know I loved him so much. It came very naturally. He’s the personality I’d want to marry, if I’m honest. There’s nothing boring or off-turning about him. He’s charming, caring, quick on his feet, and imaginative. Judging from fandom content, I’m not the only one who loves our bean. So here’s a few reasons why Douxie is so great! ♥
………………………………………………………………………………………………….
1. He has a vision.
He has big goals and a clear intent of where he wants to go in life. It speaks of determination and a broad, open mind. That’s super attractive.
2. He is hard-working and committed to bettering himself.
He disciplines himself and is serious about his eagerness to learn. “And what sort of life would that be?” Those words really stuck with him.
3. He is humble.
He doesn’t think himself above correction. He listens to wisdom and applies it.
4. He’s a natural charmer.
He’s smooth and juuust a tiny bit of a show-off.
5. He’s confident about his capabilities.
He trusts in himself and does not overestimate himself when it counts. What he lacks in skill, he knows he will be able to make up for in spontaneity (and luck).
6. He doesn’t shy away from danger.
He is brave and loyal to his cause and to the people who are important to him. He will stand up for his loved ones and defend them. He’s stubborn like that.
7. He learns on the go.
He is not a book smart, but learns things fast by putting them into practice. He is a quick thinker who knows to use his surroundings to his advantage, which makes him a flexible, versatile fighter.
8. He’s a pure, innocent soul.
He doesn’t have any nasty thoughts or gross habits. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and he has sentiment for what he loves. He couldn’t harm a bug. You guys, that was all just in the first episode.
9. He is polite, diplomatic, and stays collected in precarious situations.
He doesn’t blindly take charge, but instead listens, observes, mediates and delegates.
10. He is kind and considerate of others. And he cares so, so much.
He is gentle, sensible and sensitive. He is an empath who identifies a lot with other people’s emotions. He can understand their problems easily and reacts with great care. He is comforting, helpful, optimistic, encouraging and hopeful. He is not dismissive, raging, or loud, but a great listener who cares a lot.
11. He loves unconditionally.
He doesn’t repay evil with more evil, or is unkind to others just because his own day isn’t going great. Instead, he always pays kindness forward, so much that others are impressed by it.
12. He is generous.
He goes out of his way to do nice things he doesn’t have to. Heck, he’d never tell Steve to his face how annoying he finds him, but is totally supportive of his Knight career instead. Douxie makes friends easily and everywhere he goes. This also makes him a great teacher who it’s fun to learn with.
13. Although spontaneous, he is well-prepared for unexpected turns of events.
He is not gullible, naive or foolish, but makes plans whenever possible and has his bracelet equipped with all necessary functions that come in handy in close combat. He isn’t afraid to take matters in his own hands and present a good idea.
14. He loves what he does and is actually amazing at it. He loves life.
The freedom we see him gain when he learns to unashamedly be himself is absolutely beautiful to watch.
15. He is honest about facing facts, but he doesn’t give up on people.
He won’t lie to people about inconvenient truths, but he is also passionate about helping them. Any people for that matter. Be it family, or strangers, or friends. He’d go to any length to assist them, and that’s something he promises. In fact, it’s something he says over and over: “Trust me.” And trust he earns.
16. He is shattered by the unfairness and grief in the world.
He lets those things touch him. He’s not emotionally distant, but lets these things affect him as raw and deeply as they come. He works through them, and gathers strength through his close relationships. That’s super healthy. He’s conscious of his flaws and weaknesses, and in tune with the knowledge that processing loss takes time. He’s okay with crying, and sitting with the weight of the hurt. That’s not a thing many men are able do, if you ask me.
17. He’s at peace with himself.
He’s ready to die for his friends. And he’s completely okay with that. He may be afraid in the moment, but he stands bold and tall and doesn’t fear what’s to come.
He’s amazing. ♥

Space Whale AU
Lance is surprised when Keith, who's been declared missing/dead by the Blades, appears in his room in the middle of the night. The former Black Paladin looks just as startled and it takes both of them a moment to react beyond that.
The wolf doesn't hesitate to bound forward and shove his face under Lance's arm, tail whipping back and forth in joy. He obliges the unspoken request, hands mindlessly scratching beneath thick fur. His eyes stay on Keith even as the vision of his friend swims and he has to rapidly blink to get it to steady once more.
"What's wrong with you?" It comes out of Keith in that brazen way any of his demands do, but Lance knows him better, detects the softness and concern behind the words.
Figuring the lack of sleep is finally messing with his mind and this is all an illusion, Lance responds honestly, "I'm scared I won't wake up." That doesn't even begin to cover everything that's wrong with him, all the new issues he's developed since Allura pulled his soul back from the void and shoved it back in his body. "I died and I think I was s'posed to stay that way."
Keith's arms wrap around him as Lance sobs and the tears start dropping. Uniform and all, the Blade tucks himself next to Lance and holds him until his breathing calms, promising him it'll be okay and that he's not meant to be dead.
"I'll stay with you, okay? I'll make sure you wake up."
Lance nods into his chest. For the first time in weeks, sleep greets him and he doesn't feel like its darkness is trying to take him away.
*****
Overview: Kosmo meets Lance in a vision and decides he wants to see the Red Paladin again, so he poofs himself and Keith to Lance's room on the Castleship. It's the first of many visits.
