Doing a bit of twitter matching again though you're getting two bits of related artwork this time!
Thanks to Isaac Orloff, we have a really good reference of the Akirdion Royal Guards and their weapon/shield. As a bonus, texture reference shared with Morando and Vex too which never hurts to have. Side designs don't tend to get added to portfolios so this guy was a genuine surprise.

Amongst the Linkedin uploads Francisco Ruiz Velasco aka Fruiz has been doing there was a related surprise. Whereas the upper image we already had, the lower is brand new showing the successful design for these guys in concept art form.
Tumblr for reasons best known to the website refused to let me add the text. Had a work around for the error but really?
Every single time I visit AO3 there's this lingering sense of dread that I might stumble onto some horrific angst/whump fic that'll scar me for life
(Which is why as much as possible, I just post my smut there and leave before I become curious enough to take a peek at whatever nightmares lurk beyond those tags...)
I love how we all, collectively as a fandom, agree that Douxie isn't straight. Like, no matter what that means to a person's individual headcanon, we all agree that he's not heteronormative
I mean, you can't look like this
And be straight at the same time
Challenge: reblog this post with your headcanons about his sexuality/gender identity
Personally, I hc that he's pansexual with a male preference and nonbinary-genderfluid with he/they pronouns
Because tumblr doesn't let you add videos to reblog, having to make a brand new post about this which is a mite annoying. The original post is here.
ANYWAY
Gabriela Carolina's website had the 2020 demo reel added again. This specifically contains a few seconds from the sequence she did for the 3Below episode Moonlight Run which was uploaded in full way back when. Due to have animal death/gore either side I've done the video equivalent of cropping so people can enjoy it. The weird frame at the end is caused by the next half second jumping straight back to blood again, this was the best compromise could manage.
The music is from the demo reel which does not have audio otherwise.
Source is here. Bear in mind the animal death/gore if you scroll down to the demo reel.
Thankfully these few seconds do have the iconic Krel :|
Can we all appreciate how Mothra flew in and gave Shimo one hell of a bitchslap after she attempted to freeze Godzilla?
(Also, I really love Mothra's new "Pulse" attack)
OK, so I got my (digital) pencil around Douxie again because I absolutely had to celebrate the fact that he gave his own life in Wizards. A simpler narrative might relegate someone who looked like him to a role of snark and rebellion. But Douxie is different––he’s got a core of humility, depth, respect, and compassion that is refreshing to see. He the cool kid on the sidelines who’d tell you how to properly respect a goddess (even though he himself’s a little unsure on the specifics). He’s the punk rocker who talks to kings to tell them them to do the right thing since their names will be remembered forever––because he would do the same, even though his name is not important. He’s the longsuffering apprentice who waited 900 years for his master to return, and yet still took his teaching and advice to heart and worked hard to be the best person he could be. And he’s the friend who would give his life to save you, even though he only met you properly a scant few days ago.
Huge kudos to the team––the writers, the story artists and boarders, Colin, and everyone––for all the little ways his character shines through. He’s a quiet person so it’s often those unsaid moments that speak the loudest! And I never tire finding the little details in his eye motions and expressions to show me what he’s thinking.
I couldn’t help but symbolize his sacrifice with the classic of urban fantasy and one of the first narratives that equated rock stars with ancient magic––Neil Gaiman’s Sandman and of course Death herself. I’m sure Douxie would have been chuffed to meet her upon eating the big one.
@tenyai mentioned that she loves punk rocker characters, so if she sees this, I hope she gets a kick out of pairing up one of pop culture’s classic goth goddesses with our boy Douxie.
This week's storyboards are a sequence many might have missed when it was uploaded. Tis the entire fight from the Wizards episode Killahead between Morgana and Douxie by Teny Issakhanian aka @ tenyai !
Maybe, if things were different, it wouldn't have come to this.
