I love the Fallen Angel painting, and I love Douxie, so I combined them into my new favorite drawing.

Truly the most important of Archie to exist, this artwork is by Betsy Bauer! Mean look at him, no wonder he was so embarrassed.

This was also used for one of the netflix thumbnails indicating fantastic taste. Interestingly this also confirms there is a green eye version matching his cat model sheet.

Mothra: Queen of the Monsters issue 1 first thoughts (⚠️ mild spoiler warning ⚠️)
A good start to what could become a great comic miniseries, Mothra: Queen of the Monsters shows how crucial Mothra is in a world filled with kaiju by showing what the world would be like without her.
In earlier media, Mothra consistently symbolizes the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Yet, in QotM, she fails to lay an egg before being killed by Antra, meaning Mothra's species faces extinction, along with the remaining fragments of humanity. Without Mothra to safeguard the planet, monsters will emerge without resistance, jeopardizing humanity and the world itself.
Mira and Emi are really excellent characters. Both separated from each other during Mothra's last stand against Antra. As years passed since Mothra (and their parents') death, Mira was jaded from living alone, blaming Mothra for her family's death (presumably a nod to Ayana Hirasaka from Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris). Emi, on the other hand, is bubbly and cheerful, and was reunited with her twin over the course of the story.
Unlike in past incarnations, the Shobijin have a more otherworldly vibe here, with their deep blue eyes and moth-like antennae on their heads. They retain the same role as in the movies, acting as Mothra's priestesses. But with the beloved Earth guardian dead, the Shobijin are weaker than they were before.
Antra was a very interesting concept for a villain Kaiju, a ferocious Monster Queen created by the planet to defend it (a nod to Battra) but deviated from its original purpose by slaying Mothra. It's nice seeing IDW introduce newer monsters into the mix instead of bringing back old foes for Mothra to face against. Also, the reveal at the end featuring Antra's very own twin priestesses was totally unexpected!
(Seeing Emi, Mira, and the Shobijin sing Haora Mothra to travel back to prehistoric times was a really nice reference to Rebirth of Mothra 3! 🥰)
Overall, the comic's story was rather...rushed. It focuses more on worldbuilding and the reunion between Emi and Mira. While the narrative tries to introduce new ideas, it also reuses a handful of old concepts from previous Mothra films.
3.5 / 5 stars

We've not had much John Bell over here yet and seeing as we've been on an unintended 3Below week, well how about two more?
First up is GDT Arcane Books which is marked as version 1. Krel is being used for scale as he is in many of the 3Below artwork. The planter is also a drawer. Bonkers yet delightful.

The second of course has to be Zimroc Records! This is Version 1 again with Krel once again on scale duties. Down the side is looking very fancy and lacks windows upstairs compared to GDT.

Things of course can change in final builds but that doesn't mean can't enjoy them anyway.
