The first time I was arrested for real was at Venice High School in 1995 - I got arrested on my moms birthday during my second period class. I had just finished a math test that I had studied real hard for the night before - I never really cared for school nor did I have the attention span for what they were teaching but I made the varsity basketball team that year and I really wanted to play - 5 of us got arrested for something that happened at VHS the week before - I wasn’t even at school the day it happened but a bunch of really mean detectives cuffed me and took me downtown and screamed at me all afternoon - we ended up getting sent to Sylmar juvenile hall and then in the morning transferred to Eastlake CJH • I never got a phone call home to talk to my family and let them know where I was.. nothing. After being there for a week I met Father Boyle and told him my dilemma - he pulled me out of my cell, gave me a rotary phone to call my parents with and smiled at me the way your grandpa would - that was my first interaction with Father Boyle and Homeboy Industries • Today (Thursday September 24th) we launch our collaboration project with @homeboyindustries / a portion of the proceeds will go to HBI - Homeboy is the largest and most successful gang intervention program in the world • we drop today at Noon pst on www.Bornxraised.com (at Eastlake Juvenile Detention Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFhwPTNjwC2/?igshid=ohryxvxolk5d
