My Obsession For A Reason

I’ve yet to come across a picture of this man and not save it.

I’ve never seen someone as beautiful as him.

However he’s more than just a pretty face and idol body.

I’m 'obsessed' with him, but I don’t really ‘want him’, I want the best for him.

I want to see him happy in song, happy in dance, happy on stage, happy eating, happy with friends, happy with fans.

I want him to have his peace, protection and privacy.

I want him to have his space and his freedom.

I want him to only hear ‘how can we help you’ and never ‘you can never.’

I want to understand him on the level he feels comfortable with and never make him feel uncomfortable.

I respect him as a public figure and a private person

As a human he’s not always gonna be happy, is gonna make mistakes, is not going to please everyone, will have had misunderstandings, anger, tears etc.

However to know what we do of him, he listens, he learns, he tries to be better and do better. No one that’s spoken of him can ever say he’s not the most selfless person they know, the most emotionally intelligent, the kindest. No one that has spoken of him can deny he gives his all to his friends, his members and his fans.

He does what he can both in private and public for his hometown and his country, to children, schools and foreign aid.

I love him deeply, as unique and talented artist and a perfectly imperfect human striving to make himself and what he can around him better.

If I only ever have all that he’s given to his fans and supporters I’m still content.

I yearn for anything and everything he shares with us but I yearn for his happiness and security more.

Another reason why I love and admire JIMIN, he respects his fans and appreciates our love.

I pray everyday that he will always be happy and protected and beloved by many ❤️

No one--but NO ONE--loves and respects his fans more than Jimin does. No one is more humbly and sincerely grateful to them. No one inspires them and worries about them like Jimin. No one shares his vulnerabilities and innermost self like Jimin.

And no one sees his fans like Jimin. Truly SEES his fans as the people they are and the people they want to be.

So yes, he doesn't come on vlive at all hours of the day and night and perform for you. He doesn't give you a blow-by-blow of his daily regime or work schedule.

But then I remember his appearance right after he received his #1. How very REAL he was as he struggled to express the depth of his gratitude to his fans. Tell me you didn't shed a tear or two yourself.

Wd may not have quantity, but by God, we have quality.

I think you brought up a lot of interesting points about why Jimin seems to be person non grata for all solos including tkk and hyung line but I'd like to submit that it's also an after effect of Jimin pulling focus. Because he does that a lot. Somehow he isn't the most popular member and yet he has so much mythos surrounding him even outside his music.

You can see it even simple things. Literally we have something called the Jimin effect or sayings like once you Jimin, you won't Jimout. Even locals know about Jimin Jimin trending when the world ending seems imminent or him being included in that pic of the kind of men women are attracted to as the elf prince. Hell didn't he and RM go viral in their fetus days for him having no jams lol.

He's the sort of guy people make paintings of and apparently well enough that they get displayed as part of an exhibit in the Louvre. Yes all the members have titles but how famous are they in KPop outside of army spaces. ARMYs can't even decide if it's Hobi or JK who's supposed to be the ace of KPop but everyone in KPop knows who we're talking about when we say it boy of South Korea.

He didn't even speak English much and yet you can see how every interviewer remembers him in particular. What do people remember about AHL? The kidnapping, the battle to win that girls interest, Tae dressing up cutely and singing but also Jimin with Tony, Jimin getting fed up cleaning the plane, pabo Jimin. How many infamous moments from Run BTS include him? Also how many staff members at Hybe are talking about how beautiful he is? A female makeup artist who was afraid she'd fall in love with him and another male one who kept talking about how beautiful he was for a man.

Even the negative aspects sort of make me raise my eyebrows. We've had all the members debut now Tae's main track notwithstanding) but why was it that during Jimin's debut we had that 40K quote hate train where people were coming to promote their faves. Even if you think SMF Pt 2 was bad (because you have no taste), there have been terrible songs released before - why was everyone suddenly so invested? Why does a person like Oli London exist? Why is Jimin a main player in the tkk narrative - jk and tae are touchy and friendly with other members too and yet he's the one who's somehow the villain in their story. The member with the most number of antis where he even had to address the death threats he received during a press conference (which was horrible - I'm not downplaying that)

We even have kpop lore about him - that pic with him and Taemin talking behind the scenes, his supposed eavesdropping of gossip from Jisoo, his 'beef' with Jeongyeon. If Jk is shipped with half of S Korea then Jimin is shipped with the other half (it's toned down nowadays tho). The recent Barbie shout-out is just another one in the list of ways he just stands out.

I'm not saying the other members don't have similar things. I've seen artworks made of all the members. JK is well known as the golden maknae of KPop or the half-joking princess Diana reincarnation theory related to him. Jins so-called scandal is giggled about in all corners of the kpop fandom. Someone outside BTS but Rose being known as the couple ender is also funny. All the members of BTS are famous to different extents both among the GP and kpop stans. There's probably a bunch of stuff I havent listed too related for every member but a lot of it is concentrated on Jimin.

Does this all translate to GP support or anything tangible. No it really doesn't. I don't think it's even a measure of popularity. But it's significant that he keeps popping up at random places so consistently and imo it's because he's so memorable. This isn't even about his (considerable) talent or his (beautiful) music. It's about having that it factor - the x factor - where you're what everyone talks about all the time.

Btw, I was watching fancams with friends again last night and we played this one:

How does he move the way he does? /gen. You can see the strength he infuses into every move, down to his fingertips when he dances.

There are many dancers in k-pop who impress me, some I'd place in the best dancers globally, but Jimin is easily the top ranked in nearly every category IMO, no matter the context. He's a real artist. It's not in him to half-ass a performance, no matter his condition. He gives his all and that's something that both inspires and troubles me about him.

I don't even bias him and Jimin induces some insanity in me from time to time. It's just what he is. Nobody who pays attention to him can react normally to him, everyone gets drawn disproportionately to him. Imagine how tiring that must be for him to know sometimes. And no offense to Jimin biases but I genuinely believe you have to be a little bit off kilter to be able to commit to being chosen by him.

Because Jimin is the sort of person you need... space to love.

Jimin is..

Jimin uses whatever misalignment is in you, eases his way into you to fix that offset, remove that imbalance. The way he is... when you fall under his effect it's like he takes up space inside you. As though he deserves and will take nothing less. In my honest opinion that's one way I perceive him. But then you open your eyes and realize the man is the softest marshmallow, a kind and truly measured person with exceptional emotional and practical intelligence. A Slytherin to the bone, a living shape-shifter, so attuned and sensitive to everything.

And he doesn't really demand anything. He's just so loved people want to commit to supporting him. His charismatic idol persona is just as attractive as his naturally shy but mischievous personality off the clock. It really doesn't get much more perfect than this for any celebrity ever.

Like, sometimes I wonder if Jimin goes to bed at night fearing he might one day destroy k-pop. In real practical terms. I wonder if Jimin agonizes over the fact that he's the most dangerous person in the industry. Knowing him, he probably doesn't but it's still something that as I've said before, needs to be said.

(Between you and me, I think he's yet to come to terms with it. Poor lad.)

Anyway, Jimin biases are actually in love with the man and I'd like to present some evidence both as a self-confession, and in support.
