I see a beautiful gay man in the park and I say, "That man has my body". (...) I felt like a gay man in a woman's body. I knew when I was young, about twenty-four, that I wished I was a gay man. That was a common fantasy of mine. I felt that the physical response I had to men must mean I’m like a gay man. I identified with the way gay men talked about other men. I felt like an imposter as a woman. - Anne Rice, The Roquelaure Reader

i think part of the problem with the public sex ethics discussions is in reality most people judge the morality of most actions based at least in part on their assumptions about the intent behind the actions. like for example if you have ever lived in a home with abusive or just hostile interpersonal dynamics you can probably recall people doing seemingly innocuous things (closing a window, washing a dish, &c) but doing them in way you interpreted as intending to convey anger or to scare you. you can probably see the distinction between "closing the windows is an acceptable act" and "the way that specific person was behaving while closing the windows was hostile or was part of a broader abusive dynamic." but sex in public rarely even makes it to this level of nuance because there isn't even broad agreement about whether, or how much, it's acceptable in the first place. is there a difference between someone masturbating in plain view with no interest in anyone around them, and someone doing so in order to intimidate and harass? can you reliably tell the difference? can you for any other act? who might be punished disproportionately by these mind-reading games? what about by blanket banning certain acts in public? falling back on etiquette norms won't save you here

As you might be aware I have big feelings about all besnouted creatures, but recently something has been grating on me. Sometimes, when people draw a snout animal, they draw the snout as a nose with the mouth as a separate entity underneath. This is a stylistic choice I greatly dislike because a snout or trunk is, by definition
A COMBINATION OF THE NOSE AND UPPER-LIP.
Tumblr media
You can see here that the snout is not a separate entity from the mouth in these mammals, but is a fleshy protuberance emanating from the upper jaw.
Tumblr media
You can see in this illustration how a more anatomically accurate snout position gives an anthropomorphic pig a degree of charm that an inaccurate snout position does not.
Snout positioning can make or break a character design for me.
