OK Tumblr Geriatric Ward, let’s talk about your posture-
Tumblr media
there are things you should be doing now to prevent yourself from starting to look like 🥀
Why does it matter? Future you would like to avoid the pain, limited motion, and fall risk that goes along with worsening posture.
What’s the focus?
1. Keep the flexibility in your spine
2. Stretch the muscles in the front
3. Strengthen the muscle in the back
Here are some simple things you can do daily while sitting and when you get up to go into the bathroom or the kitchen
Keep the flexibility by doing these repeated movements: 10 repetitions several times a day
Tumblr media
The goal is to give yourself a double or triple chin. Keep your nose pointing forward, don’t let it tip up or down
Tumblr media
Thoracic extension- use a chair with a seat back that comes up to the level of your shoulder blades. Try to bend back over the top of the chair without arching away from the seat back and without extending your neck. If the pressure from the top of the chair is uncomfortable you can place a towel there
Stretch the muscles in the front by using a door frame. This one will feel good afterwards
Tumblr media
If this isn’t enough of a stretch you can do one side at a time. If you have the right arm up step forward with the right foot and turn slightly to the left. Then do it on the other side.
Tumblr media
Strengthen the muscles in the back by squeezing your shoulder blades together for a count of 10 and then repeating 10 times. You can do this several times a day Hint: Don’t lift your shoulder blades up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are lots more exercises for strengthening your back muscles but this is a good starting point and easy to do. I like doing it while driving
Tips:
Do the best you can
If it hurts stop
Envision future you saying thank you each time you do one of the exercises

DO NOT DO THIS!!!
If a website has a paywall, like New York Times, DO NOT use the ctrl+A shortcut then the ctrl+c shortcut as fast as you can because then you may accidentally copy the entire article before the paywall comes up. And definitely don't do ctrl+v into the next google doc or whatever you open because then you will accidentally paste the entire article into a google doc or something!!!! I repeat DO NOT do this because it is piracy which is absolutely totally wrong!!!

Hey all, you know how internet searches suck now? When the results are awful, full-of-AI, death-of-the-internet levels of bad?
Start appending date constraints to your searches - "before:2023".
My results have gone from 90% AI bullshit to ~60% usable - which frankly at this point is a huge improvement.

Fun snake facts Many same-size vore people describe their preds as 'unhinging their jaw like a snake' but this is actually false! Snakes instead have two separate lower jaw bones, and they open sideways in order to fit larger prey. You can see this when you look at the skulls of snakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is what allows a snake to swallow such large prey whole. So next time you see someone making that description, arm them with this slightly eldritch knowledge! They may prefer to have their preds unhinge their jaws anyway, but at least they know it's not accurate to snake anatomy!

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

Deans death.
Okay you know what? I am not done talking about this, so fuck it: Let’s talk about Deans death and how every problem with the finale can be tracked back to the decision to not bring Cas back after the end of 15x18.
In my opinion the writers “tried” to go for a sort of “open-to-interpretation” situation with Deans feelings. “Does he love Cas back? Are his feelings only platonic? Haha we don’t know, you decide!” and they completely cornered themselves with that (avoidably and stupidly so.)
This is most apparent with Deans death. Dean just dying on that stupid vampire hunt is frustrating and aggravating for many reasons, but there are a lot of different perspectives to it. And I know some people are okay with Deans ending, but personally I take huge issues with most of their arguments for why it was okay or even good to have Dean die right after they were finally free.
So let’s look at these arguments:  1. “Both Sam and Dean die A LOT in supernatural and they defy death A LOT. Dean accepting his death and Sam saying that it is okay, shows that they finally are at peace with themselves and the world. It was important to Sams arc to let Dean go as well.” Yes, defying death time and time again is a huge part of spn and that they finally got to a place where they can be at peace with it is kinda good. But then why couldn’t Dean get a few more years or even a few decades? Why not flash forward so we could see Dean have some peace and happiness after they defeated Chuck? We could still have an impactful scene with Sam “letting Dean go, telling him it’s okay and he will be fine without him”. Just because Dean had some more years a similar scene would have still shown us their growth over the events of the show and it would still have been a monumental moment for Sam.
Showing us that they can finally let go and accept death and that Sam can go on without his big brother did not make it necessary for Dean to die right after the events of 15x20 in any way.
2. “They always hinted at Dean dying on a hunt. It even seemed to be important to Dean, always wanting to go out swinging. A reoccurring struggle for Dean was the question if he was only a hunter because of his dad; so him dying on a hunt but being content with it, was a good conclusion to that, showing that this was what he choose and he was satisfied with it in the end.” This argument is again really weak for the simply fact that it still doesn’t explain why he died right after they were finally free. Dean could have still died on a hunt, if it was truly important to the writers to make the point of “This is the thing Dean wanted to do with his life, even when he finally had the choice.” But he could have been older. The point that it was Deans choice to live and die as a hunter and that he always wanted to go out saving someone, would not be lost at all with a Dean who’s sixty-something. It could have been kinda reminiscent of Bobby even.
Now let’s get to the juiciest argument, shall we?
3. “There wasn’t really much for Dean in life. In death he got his personal heaven with so many loved ones, and - if you ship Destiel and think Dean loves Cas back - the man he loves was already there too!”
First of all: I can’t help the BIG YIKES I feel when I read people say that dying early was the happiest ending for Dean. I’m sorry, but when your writing brings the journey of your main character to the conclusion that “there is nothing for him in life and he is better of dead”, after he was fighting death all his life, then you just failed. Failed your character, failed your audience. Plain and simple. Dean always wanted to live (Yes I will fight you on this). He made dumb decisions throwing his life away several times, but the reason for that has always been saving someone elses life, or getting someone back to him. That doesn’t mean he didn’t want to live. He always fought to stay alive, but to be alive with the people he loves.
The last two seasons Dean wanted to get “out of God’s hamster wheel”, because he wanted free will, because he wanted to live.
Ngl, the show had some really powerful messages about loss and life and death, at least for me. I started watching the show shortly after losing my grandma and idk, it sounds stupid, but it kinda helped sometimes. Fighting for life and freedom, fighting for your friends and family who are alive and also living on for the people you lost… I love that. And now the character who was always fighting to live for his loved ones has nothing in life and everything in death? Fuck that.
(TW: Topic of Suicide. A part of me also takes a huge issue with this because it makes death - and by extension suicide - look like a solution. Like “For some people there just isn’t peace in life, but there is peace in death.” FUCK. NO. That’s just a terrible, terrible thing to get out in the world and it’s terrible thing to do to your main character. I seriously hate it. Yeah Dean did not actually kill himself, but the way he didn’t try, the way he just accepted it immediately.. he might as well have. Being okay with death when it’s your time to leave is one thing but that just doesn’t apply here. Dean isn’t terminally ill or something like that, and there is SO MUCH in life for him. Why would a mostly-healthy fourty-sth man like Dean just be done with life, after everything he’s been through, after finally being free. It’s nonsensical - and a dangerous thing to get out there.)
But why am I refuting these arguments like this, why do I keep saying those writing decisions were avoidable, what’s my point?
Well, let’s bring Cas in the mix, shall we?
Let’s say Dean doesn’t love Cas romantically. So losing his best friend sucks, but he knows (maybe?) that Jack saved him and brought him to heaven, so Dean knows that one day he will meet Cas again once he is dead, and then they can talk about how Dean still loves him as a friend and appreciates the confession even though he doesn’t feel the same. Well if it is like this, then again: Why can’t Dean live a longer life, fall in love with someone too and maybe get a chance at having a family? Maybe some woman who is also a hunter, maybe a woman who already has kids and he can be to them what Bobby was to him and Sam?
If Dean doesn’t love Cas, then why couldn’t he have a shot at love again and more importantly: life in general?
But no, then it would have been spelled out for the audience that Dean isn’t in love with Cas. And that’s not going well with the “open for interpretation” approach.
So now let’s say Dean does love Cas back. Because yeah, assuming that, things get pretty complicated for our dear writers. If Dean loves Cas and Cas is still in the empty, Dean would have done everything to save Cas.  If Cas is in heaven waiting for Dean, and lets just assume Dean knows this because Jack told him, then I can hear a lot of people asking again “Whats in life for Dean, the love of his life is waiting for him in the afterlife!”
And again: BIG YIKES. So you can only be fulfilled when you are with the person you love? After losing your partner the best thing you can do is die too? Dean wouldn’t find happiness in life with his brother and friends and his dog, he needs a romantic partner and with the man he loves dead, there is nothing for him anymore? What a fucked up, damaging view on life and on relationships. You can be happy single. Dean could have been happy single for a decade or two more. Hell, it kinda would have been a long distant relationship, kinda. Being in love with Cas but living on without him, knowing he will see him when the time comes and being okay with being without him till then, those are not mutually exclusive concepts.
No, the real problem would have been: How can we give Dean more years alive, being happy and content, while also showing that he is looking forward to being with Cas in the afterlife, while also leaving the ending “open for interpretation”(*jazz hands*) in regards to his feelings for Cas? I mean we know Dean, he wouldn’t just leave Cas stuck in the empty and if he knew from Jack that Cas was in heaven, he could have also asked Jack to bring Cas back to life for the rest of Deans life, right?
So yeah, another corner.
There was no satisfying, longer life for Dean without either bringing Cas back or at least addressing the Cas-situation in some way. It all boils down to the decision to not have Cas show up one more time after 15x18. Dean staying alive would have needed a spelled out conclusion for his feelings for Cas, no matter how you look at Destiel.
The decision to not explicitly take a side, not to either have Dean reciprocate Cas’ feelings or to have him reject Cas, doomed the writers to kill one of their main characters in an unsatisfying way that said character did not deserve.  But they needed to play the “no homo haha but maybe if you want to see it then yes homo” card so badly.
There you have it. The worst part about the final was completely avoidable but would have taken the guts to actually take a position on Deans feelings and sexuality. The terrible ending Dean got is just a byproduct of homophobia/Biphobia.

Okay, I need to talk about my favourite Saileen moment
It might even be one of my favourite scenes in the entire show, I am not exaggerating. I’m talking about the scene at the end of 15x06, when Sam brings Eileen back to life.
The whole scene is a piece of art and I tear up every time, Idk, there is something so entirely human about it that it makes my heart ache.
First of all: the whole symbolism with water. Water is for obvious reasons linked to life, it’s the essence of life. We can’t exist without it and what can exist without water can’t be considered alive. And so the whole scene begins with the filling of the bathtub
Tumblr media
and then Eileen gets in, and in her ghost-form she doesn’t even appear to get wet, she lays down and still looks completely dry in the water.
Tumblr media
They are separate. No real connection or interaction between her and the water. Making it painfully obvious: She’s not alive, not human.  There is something cold about this, even the slightly green water gives of a cold feeling.  Cold. Dead. It becomes even more apparent with the way she “dives” down: it’s silent, she doesn’t even hold her breath (and why would she, as a ghost she doesn’t need to breath).
But then, when Sam completes the spell and she rises from the bathtub:
Tumblr media
She takes a big breath. And it’s so meaningful and such a relief.
This whole episode they are both so anxious and skeptical, and we as the viewers are too. There was no guarantee for this to work. They could only hope that it would.
And now we see; it did work. And every drop of water on her skin shows it and reassures us; She is here. She is alive.  And she almost can’t believe it herself.
Tumblr media
But she really is there. And she gets out of the bathtub and the water drips off of her feet and again and again we can see it, she is there and she is alive and she starts smiling.
Tumblr media
And we see Sam, still waiting. Again, he was so incredible anxious this entire time. Eileen seemed a little more hopeful from the beginning, but Sam is unsure and nervous and desperate for this to work.
Here they are looking at each before they start:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here he is after reading the whole spell:
Tumblr media
Still unsure and concerned. If you ask me, he appears torn. He wants this to work, needs this to work, to finally have a win and most importantly to save Eileen - it’s just that he is not convinced at all.
But then he can hear it: The water. When she got in the bath the water didn’t touch her, not really, it was soundless. But now he can hear it.
And he knows Eileen can’t hear him, but he can’t help it, he calls out for her
Tumblr media
And now she finally gets out of the bathtub and she calls out to him, so he can finally turn around and see for himself
Tumblr media
And there she is. Wet and naked and smiling and alive.
And still, he can’t believe it. For a moment he hesitates, he can’t let himself believe its true.
Tumblr media
He even flinches away slightly. He was so desperate to save her, so desperate for this to work and yet he can’t let himself accept that it really did work. He can’t, because he knows he will be crushed if he let’s himself hope it worked when it didn’t.
But it did. And she reaches out for him. Earlier in this episode she did the same, reaching out, but she couldn’t touch him
Tumblr media
Now she tries again. And she takes his hand.
Tumblr media
And the relief they both feel in this second, it’s so contagious, I also feel myself relax and really breath.
And she signs “Thank you.”
Tumblr media
I only noticed this after re-watching the first episode with Eileen, episode 11x11: The first thing Sam every signed to her (or rather tried to) was “Thank you”. He messed it up and so it became the first thing she taught him, back when she was alive.
Tumblr media
And now she is alive again, and it is thanks to him.
He did it. He really did save her.
Tumblr media
And then the way they both smile, and hug, her hair is still wet and she’s only dressed with the towel, but nothing else matters right now, she is alive. The way Sams smile stretches over his face when he finally lets himself believe it.
I got her back. She is here. She is alive.
He believes it. He got his faith back. He may have saved her, but in a way she saved him too.
And I don’t know about you guys, but the way he holds her.. I can’t help thinking that she must feel so warm.
