On the topic, I actually really dislike these women sports accounts bad. Aside from their weirdness with Caitlin, they are just so infantilizing with the players and not tapped into actual hoops as much as relationships and other stuff.

With the Caitlin stuff it’s really just supporting women until they’re more bigger or successful, than they get all weird and shit, especially if the woman in question has a large male fanbase as well.

overtimewbb is really really weird about all the W players in general. they definitely infantilize and it seems way more parasocial than the regular overtime page i can't take it serious whatsoever

Anyway there’s an undercurrent of bitterness with many of these women’s sports accounts when they post Caitlin and when they choose to leave her out of certain posts. They very much treat her like an ‘other’, like she’s not still a female athlete just because she’s so much more known and popular. It’s jealousy.

yeah at its core i think it’s more abt not trying to center her as much than it is abt a lot of them not really liking her but sometimes they do it too much and it becomes really off putting. they deleted the swifties post but i also remember one time tht txgthr acct made a snarky post abt there being more ppl to watch other than cc but the way they worded it was really weird @ new fans and some ppl in the comments were like “???”😭😭😭

those accts are weird bc they’ll go forever not posting her or only posting her to paint this image that she’s some aggressive 24/7 crashout then run when they need engagement. like when the engagement was announced they all suddenly started posting her Taylor stuff but a lot of the same ppl work for those comps and as someone whose come across their accts they aren’t head over heels abt her. they’re very high up on “being objective” yet seemingly only know how to recognize hate when it happens to anyone but her so they keep posting content to set her up for hate.

a lot of sports media and those types of account do that too which is so weird. trendy is one example before they got too deep into the hate for caitlin. it's like in an effort to uplift others and not do TOO much with C they end up sidelining her or just overall being weird sometimes, definitely perplexing
