@panlight Ngl, I can see Rosalie working dresses like what Elsa from Frozen would wear. I mean, just imagine her strutting around in a form-fitting gown with jewels, lace and other details, icy hues, all those fabrics...
If the prom was set in more recent years (2020—), what do you think Bella, Alice, and Rosalie would do for their dresses (fit for a high school of course)? I can kinda see Rose experimenting in ball gowns and bold colors, Alice as the designer and/or dressmaker...
Yeah I think Rosalie always goes bold; if not red, then maybe jewel tones. Very saturated, somewhat dark, very lush. She's not a demure pastel kind of girl. She likes commanding attention. I could see either a ball gown style or something slinky with a high school-acceptable leg slit.
Alice sets the trend, or at least anticipates it, both because she can literally see the future and because she's just tuned into fashion generally. I am very much NOT in tune with fashion so I don't know what those trends may be, but I absolutely could see her designing her own dress and showing up and most people being like "huh, interesting" or "weird" but the more fashion-forward folks appreciating it. I do feel like Alice generally isn't into ball gowns or big flowy skirts and with her height and build she can't really pull off the kind of looks that statuesque Rosalie can regardless. I'm seeing stuff that's sleek, maybe 1920s inspired while still feeling avant garde. Maybe something with lots of beading?
Bella doesn't care but Alice does and Alice is also catering to Edward's tastes which leads me to something softer. Maybe a kind to traditional bodice with a gauzy sort of long skirt? Probably in some shade of blue? With floral elements?

What with Rosalie's original name being "Carol", why not have a hypothetical sister be named "Caroline"? There are variations in other languages I believe, like Carolyn and Carolina. I like the idea of "Adeline" or "Vivienne" (though the first may just be a callback to The Age of Adaline), "Dahlia", "Daphne", "Violette" if you wanna go more French... Idk I just feel like there are so many possibilities with this idea
Do you think it's possible that Mr. and Mrs. Hale named their children with certain themes in mind? I mean, "Rosalie Lillian" was named after flowers (although I wonder what kinds of roses and lilies as plants hold symbolism). I wonder about her little brothers though. (I headcanon Rosalie as being half-French through her mother as her first name is French, but maybe that's just me.) Also, I can't help but wonder...what if she also had a sister? Would they share a nature name theme or maybe a hypothetical Hale sister has given a different theme...?
I've always headcanoned that Rosalie's mother's name was Lillian (which is why it's Rose's middle name), so that could feed into the flower-themed names, too. It could be carrying on a longer tradition.
If Rosalie had had a little sister, 'Violet' might be an option (it was about as popular as 'Rosalie' as a name in the US in the 1930s), or maybe 'Daisy' as an actual name or as a nickname for Margaret. (Marguerite, the French version of the name, is also a kind of daisy, hence why Margarets were sometimes called Daisy).
For brothers, I always imagined that one of them was named Edward, which feeds into Rosalie's complicated feelings about her vampire 'brother.' In my head his nickname was Teddy though (today we think of 'Ted' or 'Teddy' as nickname for Theodore, and it was/is! But it can also be used for Edward in the same way that you have Bill for William; just throw a 'T' in front of Ed and Eddy, and you get Ted and Teddy).
Looking at the list of common 1930s name, would be funny if the other brother were Ronald, because that's what SM originally named Jasper. So then both Rosalie's vampire 'brothers' would have the same names as her human ones, kind of.

Antis want Elain to end up with a male she has boldly said she doesn’t want, and to be some sort of court lady to help said male find out his family tree and maybe somehow become an heir, while simultaneously having no mention of her powers or the obvious mystery surrounding her character.
Elriels want Elain to go against fate/destiny/some weird divine pot, be with the male she has actually shown interest in and gave permission to kiss her, while also exploring her seer powers, the spy hints that were spread throughout ACOSF, and truly delving into her character in a way that wouldn’t make her a sidekick to uplift a male in her own damn book.
We are not the same.
P.S. any “it’s just lust” will be blocked so fast, because I cannot talk to someone with that low level of reading comprehension.

Elain & ACOTAR 5
The next book in Sarah J. Maas's bestselling series Court of Thorns and Roses, though highly debated among the fandom, is 100% going to be Elain's. It has to be.
SJM states in a Q&A/interview transcript in the A Court of Frost and Starlight special edition: "But I do know that the Cassian and Nesta book is next. And I know what I want to write for the second spinoff, but I'm keeping the door open after that."
She also states in that same transcript: "When spring came, I was heavily pregnant-so I was really nesting-and we realized that the garden beds were pretty overgrown with ivy. There was literally ivy everywhere: in the garden beds, wrapped around the trees, crawling up the sides of the house. So I went into this obsessive, I-need-to-rip-out-every-last-strand-of-ivy-before-I-have-this-baby mode. And I remember the entire time I was ripping out the ivy, and trying to get some semblance of order into the garden beds, I just slipped into Elain's head. Elain is a gardener, and everything I did during those weeks became research for her book."
From these two remarks from SJM-within the same interview-we learn that she knows who the next book after A Court of Silver Flames will be, and she also knows she will be writing Elain's book. Therefore, the next Court of Thorns and Roses book will be Elain's.
This next ACOTAR book will be Elain's, and hers alone, in the sense that the title will revolve solely around her, just as A Court of Silver Flames does with Nesta. Of course, ACOTAR 5 will feature another POV, that of Elain's love interest.
Many people refer to ACOTAR 5 as "Azriel's book," but SJM has stated many a time what she says in a January 2024 TODAY interview: "I've always been drawn to writing women that can't be placed in any definable category." The focal point of every book SJM has written is the women, and so Elain will be the center of her book-not her love interest. This person will be Azriel.
The people who refer to "Azriel's book" are right about one thing, however. Azriel is set up in the ACOTAR series and in the most recent installment of the Crescent City series, House of Flame and Shadow. Both Azriel and Elain have been primed for their romance and future plot by SJM.
It is also crucial to point out that each of the spinoff novels are about side characters from the first three, automatically removing the possibility of "Azriel's book" having anything to do with Gwyneth Berdara, who arrived in the story in ACOSF.
Further, the title of Elain's book will revolve solely around her character, just as A Court of Silver Flames does with Nesta. Nothing about that title suggests Casein's involvement in the book, though of course he is the love interest and other POV. Elain's book, then, will follow this pattern, A Court of ________ _____, describing her character. Yes, Azriel will be the second POV, but just as with ACOSF he, the love interest and second POV, will likely not be indicated in the title.
In conclusion, the next book in the Court of Thorns and Roses series will belong to Elain Archeron, and be titled after her, and will feature Azriel as her love interest in the second spinoff novel. 🌸🦇

In ACOWAR, Azriel was faced with the choice of defending Mor or making sure the Night Court’s alliances with Keir and Eris were secured. Azriel chose politics over his feelings for Mor.
“The same thing I told Azriel when I found him snooping through my father’s woods yesterday.” Hurt flared in Mor’s eyes as she whipped her head toward the shadowsinger. But Azriel didn’t so much as acknowledge her as he announced, “When the time comes … we are to support Eris’s bid to take the throne.”
Mor whirled on Azriel. “Why didn’t you say anything?” Azriel held her gaze unflinchingly. Didn’t so much as rustle his wings. “Because you would have tried to stop it. And we can’t afford to lose Keir’s alliance—and face the threat of Eris.”
I snorted. “What about Azriel?” So much for my decision to stay out of it. Mor resumed picking at the melon. “Az … He had a tough call to make, when Eris found him. He …” She chewed on her lip. “I don’t know why I expected him to side with me, why it caught me so off guard.”
Azriel has apparently loved Mor for 500 years, but he still chose politics over her. In his ACOSF bonus chapter, we see Azriel is again faced with the choice of politics to secure alliances or the woman he has feelings for.
“I know." Rhys's eyes flickered. "And your doing so will rip apart any fragile peace and alliances we have, not only with the Autumn Court but also with the Spring Court and Jurian and Vassa." Rhys bared his teeth. "So you will leave Elain alone. If you need to fuck someone, go to a pleasure hall and pay for it, but stay away from her."
Right away we see Azriel push back against Rhys, but the conversation is ended when Rhys pulls rank and threatens Azriel.
Azriel snarled softly. "Snarl all you want." Rhys leaned back in his chair. "But if I see you panting after her again, I'll make you regret it." Rhys had rarely threatened punishment or pulled rank. It stunned Azriel enough that it knocked him from his rage.
This is clearly not the last we’ll see of this storyline and I think this time, Azriel will choose differently. We’ll see him choose Elain over politics (if she’ll have him of course) and it would be a great opportunity of character growth for Azriel. He’s the male who always puts his court and work first, often at the expense of himself. He feels unworthy of good things and thinks his hands are sullied from the work he does for the Night Court.
Azriel choosing to pursue his feelings for Elain, despite Rhys’s order, would be Azriel for once choosing himself. It would mean he thinks he is worthy of happiness and love for once in his life and that he is willing to fight for it.

❤️ACOTAR multiple bonds theory❤️
🛑MAJOR SPOILERS for ACOTAR and Crescent City Series (especially HOFAS)🛑
Summary: I believe there to be 2 types of mating bonds in the ACOTAR universe specifically. 1 bond is the original bond that spans universes and planets. The kind of bond that is there since you are born. This bond transcends worlds and species. It pairs humans with Fae, demons and Fae, Illyrians with high Fae, etc.
Examples: Feysand, Nessian, Rowaelin, Quinlar, Theia x Aidas, Elorcan, etc.
Cauldron Bonds: When the Asteri moved into Prythian, they used and corrupted the cauldron to do their bidding. One of these corruptions was to pair people together for the best breeding outcomes. They love to experiment and pair people together to produce the best offspring in CC, and it wouldn’t surprise me that they did the same in ACOTAR. This bond is flimsy and weak. People hate each other after a time because it is based on breeding, not soul pairings.
Conclusion: The Elain and Lucien bond is a cauldron bond— an Asteri bond. It is solely made for breeding purposes.
Conclusion number 2: Elain and Azriel have had a connection since they first met in the human lands, and Azriel is progressively suffering the consequences of having the bond being unacknowledged. He’s having headaches; he can’t sleep; he has “writhing need.” He’s in his “I can’t stay away” moment. 🤭
Conclusion 3: Lucien could potentially break the cauldron bond as it is a possible ancient Asteri spell. That or they could use Truthteller to unmake the bond and possibly de-corrupt the cauldron.

In ACOSF, Azriel questioned if the Cauldron might be wrong (see: corrupted) when considering his feelings for Elain.
In HOFAS, we learn the Cauldron, in fact, was corrupted by the Asteri.
And some readers really expect him to just accept that and move on...? Mr. "Chain me to a tree"? Mr. "You can't order me to do that?" Mr. "I don't care if I die, I'm getting her back?
Yeah. Doubt.

Tbh, I’m pretty excited for the Twilight Series being animated. They’re more flexibility and imagination there, and it’d be cool seeing the superpowers getting animated.
It’d also be cool if they used the art from the manga/comic as a reference.

Interesting.
Both Hollywood Reporter (linked here) and Variety have articles about it, so it's legit. Verrrrry early stages.

What do you all think?
Hi! So I read a few fanfics that instead of vampires' eyes all in one color (red/golden/black/whatever), the transition just enhanced their original color to the point of illumination or being hypnotic (a kinda Anne Rice vampire trait). On one side, it seemed like an added fascination for onlookers and easier to be in human society. On the other, I'm worried it's a cop-out from the "horror" or a "dangerous" look to vampires that could be in Twilight. But how would that change their feeding habits? Would they still turn black from hunger, or have rings around the iris/pupil? Would their eyes never change during their newborn stage (like how in canon their crimson hue turns amber and burgundy)? I'm really curious about this, not to mention the pros/cons if this was the case...
(I honestly have so many AU ideas I need a Discord chat so we can all talk about them lol)
On the one hand, it never really made sense that drinking animal blood would have any effect on eye color, since it's . . . still . . . red? If the logic is the blood makes the eyes red then it should still do it for animal blood, but I get she wanted a way to visual set the vegetarians apart and it does make it slightly easier to blend in with humans. Amber eyes are rare but not completely unheard of; the red eyes, on the other hand, would instantly just read as sinister (or, well, 'weird contacts' at best).
So with that in mind the eye color just being enhanced somehow but still being the original color sort of makes a bit more sense, although it feels a bit like "this is COOL" vs "this makes sense/is necessary for this supernatural species." I'd imagine that brown eyes with this added effect might take on a golden hue, so Alice, Jasper and Esme might still have 'gold' eyes, while Edward's would be glowing-green and Emmett, Rosalie and Carlisle would have brilliant-blue.
I would sort of miss the light body horror of having your eye color changed, though. The eyes are the 'window to the soul,' after all. And we use eye color as an identifying characteristic. So losing that has to be weird/hard/borderline horrifying. I like that; just having your eyes become a more intense version of their original color doesn't quite have the same oomph as getting a whole new color.
But I guess if we went with the AU option, maybe the color/vibrancy fades as they get hungry? Well-fend their eyes are almost glowing, but that illumination fades as they get thirsty and the color seems darker and duller as a result?
As for newborns, maybe the parallel is they would be bright/glowing/hypnotic for that whole years (because they are still using up blood deep in their own body tissues [allegedly]), but then it fades and falls into the pattern of satiated = bright, thirsty = dull?
Or should it be the reverse? The brighter eyes when they are thirsty to hypnotize humans? Satiated eyes are duller and more human-like so they can blend in? Or is it better to lure humans with the less obviously supernatural eyes? IDK. Could go either way. I think the bright eyes when well-fed more closely mirrors the original Twilight eye color change pattern though.

set design for my personal vis dev project: Twilight. this is my first version of Charlie's kitchen. designed the house mostly based on the books, but I loved the idea of a breakfast nook in the movie set so I added one to mine.
