It’s ableist not to provide alternatives to neopronouns for cognitively disabled people.

I’m a neopronoun user. In fact, I exclusively use neopronouns. With a caveat: if you are cognitively disabled (abbreviated as CD), you can use my names (Infinity and Galaxy) instead of pronouns.

There are some CD people who legitimately cannot understand how to use neopronouns. Some people with TBIs, brain damage, intellectual disability, learning disorders, and more, can’t learn how to use neopronouns.

Not because they don’t care to learn. Many people who can’t use neopronouns are queer themselves; many of them want to learn. Many of them want to include trans/enby/etc people. But they just can’t understand how to use neopronouns.

To claim that cognitively disabled people are transphobic because they legitimately cannot understand and use neopronouns is ableist. To not provide alternatives to neopronouns for CD people means you are actively denying disabled people reasonable accommodations.

Furthermore, it is ableist to say that CD people are ableist when they don’t understand xenogenders. Many CD people who do not understand xenogenders aren’t doing so because they’re exclusionary. Hell, most CD people I’ve met are extremely inclusive of xenic folk. It’s just that they have a brain that makes understanding us extremely difficult and they cannot change that.

I will not change my stance on this opinion, as a person who is xenic and a neopronoun user, and as a person with cognitive disabilities.
