[text: You can't convince me of any headcanon other than Hope has horrible taste in junk food.
All the worst shit. Max fat. Max sugar. With a glint in her eye, mainlining that bag of candy. Those pork rinds. She's eaten rat-on-a-stick, this is nothing.]

Hope let out a soft laugh and cleared her throat "yeah... Ummm I know Logan, met him a long time ago" she scratched the back of her neck and sighed "and I also know Daken" it was clear Laura's brother was another topic. Even if she didn't like Logan that much Daken was far worse and for some reason she liked him.
"Oh, no! Not at all" there it was. Hope was horrible around people, because she wasn't raised to be social but she wanted to be with some. People like Laura made her wish she was less awkward "I'm not busy today"
Mixed feelings
Closed RP with @akahowlett
It had been a long time since she had arrived to Haven, the time had been a big blur and she didn't know how much she had truly spent there. She had seen many faces but not many had hit her like this one. She had actually crashed against Laura and many things came to mind.
Now she was far taller, even a bit taller than her and she was a grown woman she had never known. She cleared her throat and stretched her hand looking at her like she had when she was a kid "Sorry, and umm hi, I'm Hope Summers" she sighed

There was no doubt he felt emotions in her mind, the problem was how much he understood about his emotions. She knew pain, she knew sadness and she knew everyone felt them, even if they were numb the memory of feelings would remain. Hope knew deep down he was just another man that had been pushed to the wrong side, the problem was it seemed like he felt being what he was was right. He had been blinded by how little he felt, he had taken an easy way out and in the saddest way. There was no pity in her left, but she could also say she would never feel good with finding someone like him. She nodded “He has to“ whatever reason Cable had and as wrong as it could be he always did it because he thought it was right. It hurt time and time again to be left behind by him but she would always find him when he came back to scream at him and give him a hug because she would never stop missing him. He kept her grounded and when you had enough power to lose yourself that mattered a lot. Emotions mattered then more than anyone knew, because power killed everything else, your moral is blinded, your strength is smashed and all that remains is the raw emotions and will, that was what had saved her, what had saved mutants when the Phoenix reached her. Power could get to anyone‘s head, even the best ones and he sure wasn‘t that. If Scott and Jean had fallen for it, what would happen to someone like Daken? Control over everything, true power at the tip of your fingers asked for a price. Her eyes remained on his and she touched his forehead with her knuckle “It will happen“ she replied with a smile as she pulled away “when the right person arrives you will just go, you‘re not that patient“ she just had to hope someone would truly come. “Or I might just avoid you after this, I think that would be nice“
He was clearly the one who knew the game, in this dance he was smooth and in control but she had a certain touch in it. That push and pull had caught his attention and she knew it, she also knew as long as she didn‘t mess up and kept his confidence up she could get what she wanted. In this game waiting could be key and maybe, just maybe she could wait enough to win. The dance had an edge, it was like having a knife against her throat when he was near. She wasn‘t scared, bit adrenaline pumped in her blood and this blade, well she couldn‘t deny she liked having it near. As he started touching her her eyes scanned his face, trying to find his intentions hidden somewhere. Her breath hitched and her heart was freaking out as much as she was. They were back to the position they had been in long ago but this time he knew her and she knew far more about him and that changed everything. She looked at him daring him to move “I‘m sure…“ One movement and everything could change, she knew that as she whispered “but remember I can do far more damage than you ever could“ there was an edge to her voice, a warning that said if he dared to try to kiss her maybe the biggest price to pay would be his. He was a smart man and when he moved she could see it, he was testing his prey, seeing the best way to bring her down but every way would be wrong. His style was smooth but that wasn‘t the way to get to her. He would have to change his game if he wanted to win her over because for every person that had fallen for him she would have a rejection until her will broke and being honest, she had never been close to that. Maybe that was what got them some interested, it was a test for them. They had to change strategies as the game continued because no one fell, no one cracked and they both wanted to win. Two sides with different approaches were in a battle and for her part, she couldn‘t take her eyes off it. Hope was testing her emotional limits, her world kept turning when he was soon and she had to adapt. It was crazy, but she liked it. She liked a good challenge and she liked to see someone who may understand, sadly it came from an asshole but that she could handle. “What is my true self according to you?“ everyone saw something different in her. A rebel, a fighter, a kid… She was a threat to many and still, she had no clue who she was. She had been everything, she had been nothing, she had tested many things she could become and she stood as a mix of them all. One title felt right and he wouldn‘t guess it right, he wanted more. He wanted for her to be what he wanted but all she could ever call herself was a survivor, it wasn‘t complex, but it was what she always wanted. She just wanted to survive, if she was a prey or a fighter didn‘t matter, her goal was to survive for as long as she could.Since the moment she was born it all turned into a fight to live and at this point she couldn‘t desire more. He was a man with desire for much, everything in him told her that and that was good, that made him who he was. He allowed himself to want, he wanted everything, but Hope didn‘t want that at all. Lover, what a stupid word, she thought. But it stayed there, as an echo… There was no lover for her. Thinking about having a lover wasn‘t something that happened often, at least not for Hope, there was no way she could ever trust anyone enough and even if that person appeared she had never been interested. Now it actually seemed like a possibility and again she just had to remind herself who she was playing with, and as much as she saw in him there was no way it would be worth the risk she would take by letting him be so close. Weapons were something he shouldn‘t have and as much as she wanted to avoid it, she was one. He saw more than many and in that moment he was paying too much attention to her response, scanning for any kind of information he might find. It worked, he hit straight were he needed and she could barely hide it “Well, I guess everyone has something they should fear“ being afraid was something that didn‘t embarrass her, because the universe was big and scary. There was something to fear for even the bravest person and maybe someday they would see it. For her that kept her alive, most things were something to at least be cautious about and then fight back, fight until there was proof not even your worst fears could defeat you. Would he ever understand? no one knew, but it didn‘t matter then. All that mattered were the subtle things he might give her, that would prove her theory or reject it because she would have to adapt for that. Her ideas and strategy would change according to the reaction he may have after her words and then it came. She was right so she whispered “even when you‘re patient…“ she held his chin making him look into her eyes “have you ever lost control? there are times when I have lost it and I know I can handle them because there are many powerful beings out there, but can you?“ she could handle it because she didn‘t control shit in her life. It had all depended on others and her way to overcome it but for him, she wondered how long it had been since life had showed him sometimes the world like to mess with everything. He liked control, he liked to play games where he had an advantage and she imagined most times his victims didn‘t even have an idea they were being hunted by the man that was flirting with them. He liked control because that was what came with using people. He was all about it and quite obsessive, he liked to be on the top and that was what led him to his desire of power, she knew what came with it.Power gave you everything, enough power could let you control anything with a simple wave of a hand. It all fit, it all made sense and for the first time in a while she felt like some pieces finally were making a bigger picture. He was complex and there was no way she could deny that, but she could understand a bit through the broken mirror. Control was a wall that gave you protection, just like her isolation. No one could harm you if they couldn‘t reach you. “I would say confident enough“ if she wasn‘t confident in many things he would easily bring her down, she had to trust herself more than she had trusted anyone in a while because if she didn‘t how would she ever survive what life may bring to her door? Also, with someone like him even the tiniest mistake could give him more to work with and she had enough issues controlling her reactions to add anything else to that list. It was a strange game and she had to avoid one topic more than the rest, his father figures were out and well, she had to move around them again and gain, just like the. She pushed him and smiled “Well, if I wasn‘t I wouldn‘t be here“ she bit her lip softly and sighed “also I don1t even want to know what you would ask for if I ever owed you anything“ Daken wasn‘t trustworthy and would use any chance to get what he wanted, his determination was impressive and dangerous so she would have to make sure she never needed any sort of help around him. “Well, using people isn‘t my shit. I would rather do many other things than that“ she shrugged and sighed. He was different than her and sometimes she just forgot how strange his morals (if he even had morals) were. They were all twisted and bent, someone had taught him being who he was was fine and that it would give him what he wanted but, what did he even want apart from the power he had talked about before. But just like everything, was that him? or was it just him trying to get someone had told him he needed to have? Maybe their life had just been people leading them somewhere and them thinking it was what they wanted. After so long she had finally just started living with the guilt she felt she had to feel and seeking the life she desired but would he ever just know what he wanted? it was easy to brainwash a kid, it was hard to break all they put in your mind but she didn‘t know if he ever did. She scoffed “and you understand how they see it? or do you see them as inferior without truly getting them?“ Understanding your enemy was a basic but so was treating them as equals and comprehending their feelings. Emotions gave people purpose and the stronger they were the most they would chase you. The most insistent hunters always had something on the line and with that you knew you always had to watch your back. Even desire could be strong enough to be a big danger, desire for power being at the top of that list. Daken was similar, she understood parts of him because of that but it didn‘t make them less different. Many things about them were different, their morals, their methods, even the way they fought made them almost too different to see the things they had in common so when he said maybe he would she laughed a bit “I would love to see you try“ it was just hard to imagine for him to follow anything she would. He liked fun and power too much to enjoy being like her. It was surprising he even enjoyed being with her. It was surprising for her that she enjoyed being so close to him, ignoring her personal space and just allowing him to hold her. It wasn‘t normal for anyone to be able to do that. Hope was a cold and strict person since she was like 10 and that hadn‘t stopped until now. Not much had changed but he seemed to be an exception to the rule. She liked feeling him close, it was near enough for her to notice every little detail about him and to get lost in it, many things hit her when they were close, the sound of his heart was stronger and his smell was hypnotizing when you were that close but it also gave her all advantage in any attack if she ever needed to flee or if he stepped out of line. It was a smart choice or at least that was what she liked to tell herself because actually liking him would be a mistake, she could never like someone as manipulative and cruel as him. There were many great things about hm but his dark side was far too much for her to handle so the caution remained. He smiled and she knew, gods, he was so dangerous and so hot. What could she do about that? She had eyes and he was nice looking even if his personality could ruin it all. But as long as he remained quiet she was okay with looking at him. “You just ignored part of that“ she raised an eyebrow and held his chin tightly “move your hand up, wolf“ there was a small smile on her lips as she warned him, even though she wasn‘t mad at all there was something in her eyes that said move it or I will make you. She still had limits, limits she had to maintain or he would have too much control over the situation, and he already thought he had all control so she wouldn‘t give that to him. “You should laugh more often, you look less edgy“ she whispered as she tap his cheeks with a small but sweet smile. He was nice from time to time and then a moment after it all changed again and they were back to her being uncomfortable with some of the things she did. He did things she hated, and there was no reason for her to hide that. “People aren‘t experiments“ and he should know that, with the past of his family maybe he should consider his words a bit more. Even the word sent a shiver down her spine, no living being should be experimented with. Any kind of experiment made on things that felt were made by sick people that didn‘t care about anyone. Only monsters would harm someone in the way experiments did. “Why don‘t you ask someone else? I don‘t want to help you and I can‘t“ she didn‘t know much people in Haven because well, she didn‘t want to and she just didn‘t have the time. She was far too busy running outside to spend her time being social.
He had complete control over one field. His touch was something that thrilled her and that was special, such control over her body deserved some sort of alarm in her mind and it happened. Her mind filled with sirens, but part of her stepped forward, allowing him to just see the hitch of her breath. If he gained confidence, it was just a matter of time before he ruined his own plan. “Then I don‘t want it“ she smiled and tilted her head slightly. The ex messiah was a simple woman, for her to live well there wasn‘t much needed, something he would never understand.“What do I want to happen?“ she sighed and bit her lip softly as she thought “Nothing“ she had no expectations for this dance, and what she wanted to get had to remain a secret or he would hide. Knowing him was all she could strive to get and that was all she needed. “I don‘t want shit“ she said softly, her eyes looking into his with a small spark “but what do you want? I think we both know you don‘t go after someone without a reason… “ he couldn‘t want her for political power, because in there she had none, it had been years since she had any power anywhere. Her theory was intimidation, but did he really think he could convince her to stand behind his plans and threaten people? he was smarter than that. “So you are in a lower level? nice to know“ she smirked and raised an eyebrow, she was teasing to stop the flirting and she wasn‘t even trying to hide it “I had to meet what I don‘t like at some point, right?“ she stopped his hand and held it. It was a game, just a game. Sweet and innocent, but t had turned into far more. This was one long war and it was harder than she had ever expected. She scanned him with her eyes, before she replied “I hate that word“ she sighed and cleared her throat “I know what I see, you can‘t make me doubt it“ anyone could, she had reached a point where she could trust her mind more than anyone else. That was loneliness brought, when no one else was there to trust you had to believe in your instincts and memory, she had grown to love that skill. Everyone grew to appreciate things no one else knew they did. He grew into this stubborn man that could deny anything she said had an effect, he could deny his feelings and his reasons so well he bought it and that made him who his was. If she could change his mind he wouldn‘t be her wolf. She moved her hand a bit away, letting his skin stay next to hers but not letting him hold her hand. They had risked stuff, anyone alive had, but it had meant something different, it had to. He wouldn‘t be so willing to take risks if he had been so tired of them. Yes, tired. She was exhausted of having to give things and to put things on the line without knowing if it would be worthy or without a real choice. She lost so many things taking risks, and what choice did she really have when it was to live and save mutants? she cleared her throat and let out a shallow laugh “I think you don‘t know how that works“ she had the knowledge, but she had never seen the mutants she had helped before the lights and… well they were another source of guilt for her. Sometimes she felt she was meant to be a different person, her powers seemed meant to control and fight the people she had tried to protect. She had been a monster without wanting to be one and well, she wished she just could be someone else. And well, she would do everything again because mutants had to survive, she couldn‘t just let people die, but she barely knew them when life forced her to lose all she had. Now she was just tired of it all. There was no true reward for someone like her, nothing ended, it was just a cycle of pain and lessons she didn‘t want to learn. Everyone said she was important, yet she never felt like she was. In stories people got a happy open ending, but for her it wasn‘t like that and there was no way someone wouldn‘t be tired of that. “Well, maybe for you“ but for her it just meant she could stop looking behind her shoulder. Only two or three people she could trust would be able to see her and finally she would be able to sleep a full night without the fear of someone taking her or stabbing her. It could seem sad but she didn‘t care, isolation was good when the world had nothing to give you anymore. If the world needed her again she would be there, ready, but until it did she would have peace. She shrugged. The outside was wild, even predictable to certain extent because you could learn how to fight zombies, there wasn‘t much difference among them but people were different. Each of them needed a special strategy and each wanted something different. People were dangerous, far more than the monsters outside were, or at least they were for her. She put her hand against his shoulder and half smiled. Her life wasn‘t full of stories to tell, most were battles and… more battles. Most were dark and secrets she would like to keep until she died. “I don‘t think you know how repetitive mine was“ her life brought emotions back to her mind that no one would be willing to share, points of view far too different from what he had heard. She would rather keep him knowing only what others had seen, it kept a big wall between them and she liked it that way. Her past had broken her far too many times for her image to remain the same if people had known, if they had only known the image so many of them had risked everything for was just a girl that was too scared. Too scared of strangers, of losing what she cared about, of letting everyone down. She had made mistakes and everyone knew that, but if they had considered her just a human that was shaking when the Phoenix reached her maybe they would judge her less. But that would just make it harder for them and would send pity her way and no one needed that. She was a character now, a story that was told by many perspectives, but never hers and that was completely fine, she would rather live like that. “Who am I to say that?“ they had saved millions in many missions, and he had used less than that. She had saved mutants and used people she cared about, she wasn‘t superior to anyone and she would never be. If she had clean hands, if she had a better mind and a pure heart maybe it would be possible but none of those were part of her. They hurt her, but they weren‘t bad. People like Scott were just that, people and they hurt others, made mistakes and could just try to be good. That was it, no one was truly good not in the world she had lived in. The shades of grey were difficult to separate when you had been hurt by them but the facts remained, anyone would have used someone like her, at least they did it for something good. Pain remained as traumas and scars that would never fade, she knew it and as happy as she could be sometimes it would return. She had experienced a lot but pain was the one thing she knew the best, and that was fine. Happiness brought the best in her, but pain had made her who she was. “ I guess“ she sighed. Her memory was good enough to remember moments with every emotion, happiness with her first love, anger in a fight, sadness when she lost Nathan. Her emotions were easy to remember but there was no way she would deny pain came back often. Nightmares easily plagued her sleep and people‘s faces could still hurt her when she saw them, she was used to it. “I don‘t believe you“ she replied. Not many were different, and he consciously wanted to use her which made him one of the worst. He was just a liar. “Your taste… it‘s just who you want to control, that‘s the only standard“ and of course she fit. She was just a good asset and she couldn‘t believe she ever thought she was more. He was such a reminder of her past and it opened so many old wounds to just remember people didn‘t care about who she was, just what she could do. All he was was a broken man that liked to break the others and he did that to her. She cleaned her tear with her pants with far more strength than needed but she was far too lost in her mind and in him to give a fuck about her actions. His response seemed to please her because an empty smile appeared on her lips “good“ at least she had done something that had pleased him. She was good at entertaining others. “Am I? Well, yeah, of course I am. I have been a prize to show off ever since I was a baby“ there was a crack in her voice, but his eyes remained void of any emotion “I have been a weapon“ her smile fell a bit and she gulped. She could feel her hands shaking along with her being. If he wanted to break her in pieces he had the chance now, she would remain strong but she would let him bring back every bit of pain he could think of. It was what she did, it was what happened when she got tired of the pain and it happened once in a while. Cracks were what people caused her again and again, but few would dare talk to her like he had. He had hit low and it had an effect, he got what he desired and she hoped he could enjoy the show now. The laugh that left her lips was a sad noise, it made another tear run through her cheek. Every crack seemed to show in it “you don‘t feel sorry“ she wiped her tears with increasing anger towards herself “No one ever feels sorry“ at least not for her. She was supposed to get used and thrown without any regret from others, so how in the world would someone like Daken feel it? She moved away, more tears filling her eyes, she didn‘t want him near, not again. Her unusually straight stance became even more defensive. She couldn‘“t let him near her without her wanting to break even more, like she knew she could “What if this is my potential?“ the pieces she had gotten together until that point were all she could ever manage, her powers were at the top of their game and yet she was still in pain. There was no more potential in her more than who she was, she would always be an isolated broken girl and it was all thanks to people like him. People she liked being around were always mistakes for either of them. Hope was a ticking bomb that could either destroy itself or others, and that was all she would ever be because in her mind there was no worth left in her. Everyone had picked something good in her soul, things that made her worthy of something, they chose it and broke it. Hope couldn‘t believe she was more than a weapon that could help more, she had a hard time even thinking she was a human at all. “Get it in your brain, I, Hope Summers“ she held herself tighter “Am no one. There‘s nothing left for you to use, okay?“ it was clear she was being honest. She was just a broken girl like she had been since she was a kid.
The redhead took a deep breath to control the pain, her breath hitched a bit as she looked into his eyes. The air of victory remained on her as she put her claws away to wipe her lips “it‘s not yours…“ she sighed and held his chin so he looked at her “It‘s Laura‘s“ her breathing was quick as she bent down a bit to get closer to his, her hand still on his chin. It was the adrenaline mixed with the emotions what made her lick her lips a bit and whisper “You should lose control more often“ she let out a soft laugh as her hair fell to cover the side of their face “You need to learn to close your mind“ she pat his cheek, a look of sadness in her as she moved a bit away. She could think about all that she saw now and none were good. She knew Daken better but his memories would be something she wouldn‘t be able to forget. He was just as broken as her and she now knew, people could break you just to get to someone else, he could break just because… it was all he knew. You could lose even the growth of your powers. His emotions were just as hard, there was so much hate it could have fueled her anger and so much pain it felt like hers. But his thoughts brought something to talk about “Since you owe me some blood…“ she slapped him quite hard “that is for being an asshole and messing with Rogue“ she sighed and put her hands on his chest “and about Storm. She can kick your ass in a second, are you really that stupid?“ she rolled her eyes and stood up while she muttered “getting kicked out shows, you can be stupid“ she offered him a hand “You can stay in my safe house but I swear if you mess with my shit I will let the zombies eat you, idiot“

"no, like sun glasses that can stay on my head while I'm out... And that look cool?" she shrugged. She just wanted glasses that could resist all she did because the sun was far too annoying. "I just want them to be strong enough to survive when I go out" because if she got bitten because she couldn't see with the sun it would be pathetic.
She nodded and stood straighter, it should only a few seconds and it actually seemed a great idea to just do it like that. Machine could be great for very simple things and they were truly lucky to have people who could make them around them "okay, tell me when I can move again"
"Oh... Okay, sure. I will go check your list and get you all I can" she smiled. Maybe at night she would go check so she could go out alone the next day. "Ummm and how are you?" she just wanted to keep talking, Peter was one of the only few people she felt she could trust and she just wanted to be around someone like that.
cablesdaughter:
It would only be a little lie, he wouldn’t even know she wasn’t exactly a part of the scouting groups and more of a stupid girl that walked our without alerting people “of course, give me the list and I will get whatever I can get” maybe she even had some of those things in her safe house or her room. “I have some stuff, just really… Let me know what you need” she repeated.
“I don’t think I’m that type of girl, I still don’t get the things you use in this time” that was the hard part, all she knew how to do was useless when all the technology was completely different from what she used to know “but I will check if anyone wants to help with that”
“I have enough boots to last a life time, but I have one more thing. But Parker I need you to make that special… Do you think you can make me a special kind of glasses?” that would be useful, the sun was an enemy in a fight, and she needed for them to be durable.“ of course, can’t make a suit without knowing that”
“Sure, what kind of parameters did you have in mind? I have some night goggles but that’s mostly for night watch. Fighting at night isn’t recommended if you can avoid it.” Even more dangerous than daytime. While the infected could and were active by day night just seemed to aggravate the problems with fighting them.
Peter tapped a few things more on his tablet. “Hey stand straight for a second will you? I can just do a quick scan and get all the measurements I need.” Okay so normally he scanned machines but it was harmless to humans and would give him the exact dimensions he needed. That was its job for machine parts etc.
“The list is with the scout groups. That way people aren’t hitting the same areas. No reason to send someone to a place we’ve already recovered everything from.” Avoid redundancy, make sure people were paired up, not taking unnecessary risks.
