Okay, headcanon lore drop time

(Before I start, this is the 'middle age' version of the Stan n Kyle I draw. So if this isn't 'show accurate', I KNOW. But, the covid special of them was a hypothetical, so truthfully, I can do what I please with these bitches.)

They're like late 40's, early 50's here. Though Crimson Dawn is still active in the more underground metal scene, they're definitely not travelin around much anymore. Mostly local shows in Colorado. The two found a small place back in South Park where they ended up livin together. Everyone (Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, and Marj) lived/ crashed together on n off from the ages of 18-25, before gainin some more personal independence. Though after this, Stan n Kyle stayed together, still figurin things out. Fully comin to terms with eachother by the time they were like 27 (though they were already crossin goin beyond a typical 'friendship' well before that, this is just when it was like fully accepted between the two of em).

Stan is usually at home, writin music, givin guitar lessons, or takin care of the animals. He did at some point foster animals, but they were all failures n he kept adoptin all of them, so Kyle had to tell him he couldn't foster anymore, as they live in a 400sqft house n it was gettin packed.

Kyle works extremely long hours as a janitor/custodian at a few buisnesses in the area (contracted through a main compay, so he is all over the place). He doesn't get much free time, so he just looks forward to bein home n chillin.

Randy also lives with them after Sharon passed away from breast cancer when Stan was 35. His presence is a big contributor to the stress in the home. He's currently dyin of liver disease from years of alcoholism, but is waitin to get a transplant which would save his life. Hypothetically though, bcuz he still drinks n is basically only bein kept alive by his medicare n social security. Despite bein extremely sick, he still manages to constantly cause n start 24/7- havin most nights result n screamin matches between the 3. (Randy is also seemingly unaware of the relationship between stan n kyle, somethin which they won't correct him on as they think it'd be better not to).

Despite seein how Randy turned out, the two also wound up bein alcoholics- though they'd just tell you they 'enjoy a few drinks to wind down'. And by a few drinks, they mean binge drinkin until they puke n blackout most days (which effects Kyle a lot more as his job isn't from home, unlike Stan). They also smoke a shit ton of weed, n on occasion like to go campin n trip balls.

For fun they either hangout with the gang, play video games/board games, watch movies, play with the animals, go campin, or just get fucked up n party.

They live as best they can. Stan struggles to balance the unbearable presence of Randy, while also tryin to manage Kyle's instability, n his own personal struggles. Music n his animals ground him n bring him peace. Stan struggles with depression pretty bad n is just constantly exhausted bcuz he can never catch a break. Emotionally, physically, financially, etc. Everythin is just a lot. He tries to take care of himself, while also takin care of Randy's medical n financial bullshit, n also havin to monitor Kyle so he doesn't go off the deep end. Kyle is tryin his best to show up n do what he needs to do, while stayin sane. He really only does so for Stan. He does his best to keep showin up to work n not let himself fall into the void of his mind. He tries to not self-destruct, strugglin with constant self harm n suicidal urges. Neither of them can afford the potential medication or therapy needed, so their support of one another is all they got. But with Stan's chronic depression and Kyle's suicidal ideation, ed, n potential bipolar, they are STRUGGLIN.

Ion remember where I was goin with this. Anyway, here's middle age fags. They love eachother n like to give eachother tattoos. Imma go. Here's a lil sketch of another drawin I was gonna do but got too tired. I might complete it some day if I remember.

We have this interesting situation where we basically no longer have privacy nor the expectation of privacy, but we also don't have community or meaningful connection with others, so we're all simultaneously both completely exposed and absolutely alone, and please understand that when I say this situation is "interesting", what I in fact mean is that it's "nightmarish and I wish I could wake up"

one of the most frustrating things about getting a job is that after you go through the absolute hellscape that is applying and interviewing and you finally prove yourself worthy of having employment, you'll end up in the workforce and realise that 90% of the people with jobs are not actually very good at them. so like why was all of that even so hard
