I’ve recently just decided that I hate my career choice of music. I just never excelled in it in any way and here I am with a masters degree and I’m just sitting around hopeless with no where to be or go or do in my career. Like I knew from the beginning that you don’t go into music for money but go into it for passion but it doesn’t even fulfill and sense of passion that I thought I once had. I did my undergrad in piano and played fine enough but not good enough to pursue any sort of anything on piano and finished my masters degree in composition just hating every piece of music I’ve written. I feel like I came out on the other end of this degree just more aware that I’m not a competent musician. I have zero desire to pick up an instrument and truthfully I’ve been thinking about donating them to my undergrad university becuase they’re just gathering dust here. I don’t enjoy practicing and I can only play a few pieces worth hearing. And out of all the music I’ve written, I don’t think I’m proud of any of it. I can’t even listen to music anymore without feeling a sense of failure towards my musical career. I’m $60,000 in debt into a career path that will provide me nothing and I just want to melt away into the ground and disappear.

Hello friends! One of my piano students likes Impressionism music and I’m wondering if any of you know of any easy children’s pieces or books of French impressionist music. I think the Gymnopedie is still a little little bit too hard for him but he really likes it so I’m hoping to find something similar.

Hello friends! I’m currently seeking recommendations on composition faculty to try to study with. I’m applying for DMAs but I’m having a terrible time finding faculty whose musical styling is something that attracts me. My style boarders from minimalism to post romanticism(particularly programmatic or tone poems) so if you have anyone whose music is something similar, I’d love to hear it!

Hello everyone! I wish I had thought to share this here before it happened, but The Queens College New Music Group from The Aaron Copland School of Music just did our first live streamed concert! I am the president of the QCNMG so I MC’d the concert and it was a complete success, our first half was pre recorded music of guitar and percussion duos, a flute and harp duo, a brass band, a few pieces with fixed electronics, and a wind quintet, and our second half is a live performance of solo bass works! Very happy to have had the success we did. So check it out!

So I recently aquired a harpsichord! I called the technician and he came to the house and he recognized the instrument and knew who I bought it from. He said that a reall common problem that harpsichords have is that becuase there isn’t a real metal frame like a piano, the tension of the strings starts to make the middle of the instrument sag as the two ends start to pull towards eachother. It’s causing some spots on the instruments mechanics to press together and he said that the instrument is too far gone to repair. So here’s my harpsichord in the begining stages of being taken apart. I’m getting my money back from the guy who sold it to me. He didn’t know anything about the instrument so he feels bad that I took it and can’t really use it. Seems like the cabinet is the main issue here so I’m considering taking on the challenge of building a new cabinet.

I’m really not super active on here anymore and I wish I was. I bought some new instruments recently so hopefully later this week I’ll give an updated family photo

Was able to do a FaceTime call and hear a first reading of my Solo For Bass! Super pumped for that to premier next fall (hopefully we’ll be back to normal so I can actually premier it)
