“want mamaa!” Little Andreas said still crying in Sofia’s arms. Alexios looked at him. “Your mom is with your dad spending some time together, we don´t want to disturb them, right Andreas?” He said and looked at Sofia not sure what to do.

"Aunt Sofia I need your help!" Said Alexios while knocking at the woman's door with his free hand while with the other was holding little Andreas who was crying inconsolably.

When Sofia opened the door, concern immediately etched itself onto her face. “Alexios, Andreas? What happened?” she asked worriedly as she swiftly escorted them inside. There was nothing that broke her heart more than a crying child, especially one that was dear to her.

“Loukas and I were taking care of the children, he’s at home with the other two, because when Zoe and Alexandros go out it’s always mom and dad who take care of them and we wanted to help too.” He explained while entering into the house. “Well, they took their nap and when they woke up Andreas started crying and I can´t make him stop, he’s not hungry, he’s clean, maybe he misses Zoe.” He said looking at Sofia. “My mother and father are not at home either, so I came here.”

“Oh my godness! This looks delicious!” Alexios said taking one of the pastries. “The studious one of our family is Loukas, he’s doing so good with the medicine.” Replied the Byzantine young man. “He has practised with me.” he laughed softly.

“Thank you!” Alexios said. “Dad taught the three of us when we were children, but Alexios is the only one that draws well.” Zoe added.

Loukas took the book from Maria and smiled.

“Both of our parents are stubborn.” Loukas said. “Specially our father.” Alexios added with a soft laugh.

The younger brother looked at his older brother and took the book from Maria. “Yes, for you Loukas, I went to the bookshop to get a book for you and another one for Zoe to thank you two for taking care of me while I was in bed, when I was going back home the books fell from my arm and she helped me.” Explained Alexios.  “Why are you so stubborn brother? Thank you, I can take the other one so you don´t have to carry them.” Loukas said to Maria.

“Well, I had a lot of time to read while I was in bed .” The Byzantine said smiling. After walking a few meters more he heard a very familiar voice calling him. “What were you doing Alexios? I’ve been looking for you all morning!” said the younger boy as he reached them. Then the teenager looked at Maria and smiled a bit. “Thank you.” He told her. “Oh, Maria, he’s my brother Loukas.” Said Alexios.

Alexios smiled. “I want to get better soon so you can teach me aunt Sofia.” He said. “I can´t wait to be able to draw well again, I can´t do it very well with the arm in the sling.”

The visit

“Well, I had a lot of time to read while I was in bed .” The Byzantine said smiling. After walking a few meters more he heard a very familiar voice calling him. “What were you doing Alexios? I’ve been looking for you all morning!” said the younger boy as he reached them. Then the teenager looked at Maria and smiled a bit. “Thank you.” He told her. “Oh, Maria, he’s my brother Loukas.” Said Alexios.

“He told me he wants to know more about them, so I bought him the book, he used some of them to treat my wounds.” Alexios replied. “Yes, I’m more like my sister I think, I love Greek and Roman mythology, history, I love reading theatre plays too, my mother was an actress when she was younger.” He said as they were walking. “And you?” He asked.

“Thank you.” He said as she took the books and then nodded. “Sure, the one for my sister is about Greek mythology, she loves them, and to read them to her children, the ones that are suitable for children of course.” He laughed a bit. “My brother’s one is about medicinal herbs, he’s studying to be a doctor.” Alexios explained.

“Thank you.” He said as she took the books and then nodded. “Sure, the one for my sister is about Greek mythology, she loves them, and to read them to her children, the ones that are suitable for children of course.” He laughed a bit. “My brother’s one is about medicinal herbs, he’s studying to be a doctor.” Alexios explained.

“I should have waited until I was fully healed, yes.” He said and nodded to her question. “Yes, I’m a soldier, my group was attacked and I got two bullet wounds, I’ve been very lucky according to the doctor.” He replied. “Do you mind taking the books? They don´t weight a lot, but I can´t.” He said a bit ashamed.

“I should have waited until I was fully healed, yes.” He said and nodded to her question. “Yes, I’m a soldier, my group was attacked and I got two bullet wounds, I’ve been very lucky according to the doctor.” He replied. “Do you mind taking the books? They don´t weight a lot, but I can´t.” He said a bit ashamed.

The young man laughed as he was playing with the children as he could due to his arm in a sling, he missed this. “Oh, the pastries smell delicious!” He said. “You have to teach me how to make pastries once I’m completely recovered.” Alexios said and Zoe smiled.

Alexios smiled back at her. “Yes, Zoe. She’s my older sister.” It was nice that she was a friend of his sister. “Nice to meet you Maria, my name is Alexios.” He said. “Uh, she always says I’m stubborn, and oh dear, she’s right. I wanted to give her and my brother this books to thank them for what they have done while I was in bed recovering.” he said. “Next time I will go with someone else.”

“I don´t think I need a doctor. Yes, to my house. My goodness I’m sorry for making you waste your time.” He replied. “Zoe is going to kill me…” He said thinking on his sister and how she had told him not to go alone, he wanted to surprise her and his younger brother with the presents and thought he could walk to the market and get them something, but no. “Thank you,” Alexios said the woman who was helping him.

Thank you, thank you so much.” He said with gratitude taking the books back with his good arm. “It’s not just my shoulder, my abdomen too.” Alexios said, he was still recovering from two bullet wounds, one on his shoulder and the other on his abdomen. He sighed a bit feeling a bit of pain from his abdomen wound due to the effort of trying to crouch to take the books from the ground.

Alexios was returning from the market, even though he wasn´t completely recovered of his wounds he went alone. The young man bought books for his sister and brother to thank them for taking care of him when he was in bed recovering. While he was walking the books fell from his arm. “Oh!” He exclaimed, he tried to crouch to take the books from the ground but his wounded torso and his arm in a sling made impossible for the Byzantine to do it.”

“Eirene understood it a bit, but the twins didn´t.” Replied Zoe while she was preparing more pastries. “I can´t wait to be fully recovered and play with them properly.” Alexios said.

Alexios was returning from the market, even though he wasn´t completely recovered of his wounds he went alone.
