Scenario: Will and Robin bond out at the farm, and she picks up on the dynamic between him and Mike. She decides to confide in him about her feelings for Vicki, and they quickly form a close bond. Mike is annoyed by Robin taking up his Will time, because how dare she! He starts to wonder if they have something going on (age difference notwithstanding), and he starts to get mad about it.

Steve notices him constantly sending looks over towards the two, but jumps to the conclusion that Mike doesn't approve of gay people because of his conservative family. Wanting to steer him in the right direction, Steve tries to set a good example of what a straight friend to a gay person should be like, going on about "people can't help who they love" and "there's nothing wrong with a girl liking a girl or a guy liking a guy." Meanwhile, Mike is simultaneous growing more and more confused and distressed.

I can't say I know where I'm going with this, but it's something that occurred to me during my long drive home today.
