hey! a few people asked me how i got my last post to look so ‘smooth’, so i figured i’d share my super roundabout way of taking screenshots of my sims for edits. this is 100% not the Best way to get good quality screenshots, but i do what i do lol. from what i can tell, this works the same no matter what reshade/if you use reshade or not!

ps in case this tutorial makes NO sense or nothing looks any different, please click the images bc tumblr probably ate all my quality.

Screenshot Guide - Part 3: “Add Depth + Framing/Blocking” I’m on a roll right now so here is part 3 of my screenshot guide! A big struggle with telling a story via film or pictures is that a picture is 2D but we live in a world that is 3D. You want to draw the viewer into your fictional world but having a world that looks flat can break the illusion quickly.  So it’s important to add depth! An easy way to do that is to create different layers in your pictures and choose clever angles to create the illusion of depth. Depth of field also helps a lot with that since in real life things that are far away appear more blurred than things up close.

Blocking certain parts of your foreground also helps to direct the viewer’s attention to a certain subject. Keep an eye out for things that are placed around the world to use this technique or furnish your sets accordingly!

Screenshot Guide - Part 2: “180 degree rule” This tip left some people confused in my preview post so I decided to add a little sketch to help visualize it better. The line of action is an imaginary axis that follows the action of the scene. So if two sims are talking for example the line of action runs from one sim to another. In the other example the Sim is walking towards the fridge to grab something from it. In that case the line follows the path of the sim. It doesn’t matter which side of the line of action you place your camera. The only thing important is to stay on this side with the next shot. This is less confusing for the person who’s looking at your pictures and it’s easier for them to follow the scene and place your sims inside the “set”/room. If you pay attention the next time when you’re watching a movie or tv show you can see this technique applied in almost every scene! If you have any questions feel free to ask!
