Disappointed Fan

I have been a fan pf PewDiePie for about 4 years now. I used to watch his videos daily, not so much anymore but I still enjoy them from time to time. He is a funny guy who entertained me with his videos in a time I needed it the most. 

Whenever there were bad headlines about him in the news, I stood by him, saw the misunderstanding on the medias behalf and continued to admire him. But now that I saw his recent video I am really disappointed.  

As you know, The US has been affected by a lot of natural diasters and catastrophes in the last few weeks. Many people have spoken out in support of those struggling and those in need.

Among others also celebreties. Which I believe is a good thing since they can reach a lot of people by doing so. Of course one thing that has also been spoken about is Trumps ongoing delegitimization of global warming and climate change. Thought no one said that there was a connection between Trump beeing President and these disasters man people understood it as that. Of course this was met by a lot of backlash a lot of people, including PewDiePie.

I get what he is trying to say in his video. He thinks it’s disgusting to exploit these tragedies to promote ones political agendas. While I can understand his point of view I do not agree with this per se. I understand that these peoples misery is more important and no one questions that. The thing is, Global warming is a constant threat that needs to be acknowledged and should be at all times. Especially when the results can be seen at first-hand.

And having a President in the White House who is not environmentally conscious isn’t helping either. 

Yes, it is Hurricane season. And yes, this isn’t the first year with this many incidents. If you want to compare and get an idea of what Climate Change is doing you need to go back more than 13 years. Go back fifty or a hundred. The numbers have increased. It’s a fact. It’s really small but they have. If it’s in correlation with global warming remains to be seen. And when wo do know for sure, it’ll be too late.

The US has the 2nd biggest CO2 emission in the world. 15% of all of CO2 emissions. And flying jets is probably less than 0,00001% part of that. The big problem ist the industry, electricity and transportation. Only 2% of said transportation is because of air traffic. It’s a minor problem which is not so easily solved since we can’t travel far distances by anything but planes. Cars and those who travel distances that can well be reached by foot or bike are the bigger problem.  

Jennifer Lawrence lives eco friendly. She drives an electric car. And who says that her jet isn’t fueld with an alternative to kerosene? She speaking up is doing more good than his video ever will. 

My point is climate change is real and PewDiePie denying it is really worrisome. I’ve always thought that he was responsible and caring. But obviously I was wrong.

I was thinking about why everyone has been mainly wearing blacks and greys this season, and I just realized it’s because they have all been enlisted into the nights watch whether they like it or not

To all the whining Game of Thrones “fans”

I don’t get why all of a sudden everyone is hating on the way the story is being told. Game of Thrones used to surprise us and still can if you let it. Just because they don’t kill off main charcters every new season, doesn’t mean that it has lost it’s unpredictabiltly, it means that it has finally found it’s course. The only reason certain deaths were unpredictable and surprising, is because George RR Martin lead us to believe that these people had a bigger role to play in this story. But they hadn’t. They were the unimportant side characters to a story much bigger than it first seemed to be. So of course sooner or later the story needs to pay off with something big and of course it needs characters we are invested in to do so. What would be the point in telling all their storys if you would just kill them off midway? The show has done it but those characters were simply not important to the story GRRM wanted or wants to tell.

Game of Thrones or ASOIAF has always been relying on prophecies, visions and foretelling. Of course all of these would matter at some point in the story. It started with Danys vision in the house of the undying seeing a dead man with a wolfshead sitting on a throne. And it might end with a big one. We will see. But it’s not fanservice if certain fan theories comes true, it rarely means that they were set up to happen at some point and turn out to BE true.

The point is, the show hasn’t lost it’s unpredictability. Martin chose to set up his story by irritating his fans and keeping them aware of the fact that anything can happen. But at some point he needs to have a reason for his story being told. Will everyone survive in the end? Most definitely not. Will they all be destined for a certain ending? Yes. Like in theatre the character needs to have a reason to be on stage and if he doesn’t he will get lost along the way. This is the simple basic of storytelling and character development.

I wasn’t asked to a single dance in high school and didn’t have a serious romantic relationship until I was 22. And like, yeah that shit hurt when I was younger. I had a lot of fears that I was unlovable and that I didn’t deserve to be happy. And every time I would try to talk to anyone about it, the conversation became, “you’ll find someone”, when it should have been, “you don’t need a relationship or a date, you’re lovable & complete & beautiful on your own��.

So yeah, please normalize young people not dating, and please stop shaming them for it. There’s more to life than romance, despite what the media wants us to think.

Audience on Daenerys character and storyline

AUDIENCE S1-6: I wish Dany would finally go to Westeros und conquer the Iron Throne. Her storyline became kind of boring. She was such a badass in Season 3 but now she is just annoying. I wish she would go back to that. And finally use her dragons!

AUDIENCE S7: Dany is way to bloodthirsty. Using dragons in a field attack? So unfair. They had no chance. She should have been merciful. Arrogant brat. She is mad like her father and annoys the hell out of me!

That would have been awesome. Like no she is no man because she is not human she is an amazon but also simply because she is a woman. You can interpret it both ways. I love things like that.

Willkommen auf meinem Instagram/Filmgeek-Account. Ich heiße ‘Cinemadame’, bin filmverrückt und gehe für mein Leben gerne ins Kino. Greetings to all my fellow movie fans and self-proclaimed cineasts. 

Welcome to my Instagram/Filmgeek- Account 'cinemadame’. I am a filmfanatic and mad about going to the movies (and of course watching them). My bank account doesn’t always play along but I try to see as much as I can. Due to the fact that I love being a smartass, I thought why not exchange views online with freaks like me instead of annoying my friends with my need to talk about movies. I’ll mainly post short reviews but perhaps I’ll also share some movie news with you that I’m personally excited about. I’d love to stir up one or another discussion but please remember: Movies are subjective. Don’t be an asshole if you don’t agree with a view completely. When you come to think of it, that’s kind of what makes movies so varied and interesting.
