it annoys me so bad when people say you can't criticize ff7r's story choices because nomura "made" the original game bitch he was a CHARACTER DESIGNER on 7, and it was only well in the aftermath that he began to have the outsized control he has on the franchise (starting with kingdom hearts) because he has spent the last 20+ years trying to superimpose his headcanons onto a game that he didn't get to write for. and EVEN IF he had crafted ff7 with his bare hands, why would that excuse the reboot games' empty and confused political messaging and poor pacing? sometimes creators revisit their works and don't understand them!!

finally getting a chance to sit down and play through the original ff7 (i've seen bits and pieces of playthroughs, but never played myself) and oh my GOD. i cannot BELIEVE how FUCKING PADDED ff7r is?????? it really makes it so transparently obvious that they only split it into 3 parts to sell 3 bloated mediocre games for $70 bucks a pop instead of doing the original narrative a scrap of justice.

as a kid, I mistook Yuffie's leg… brace thing for a prosthetic leg. I still think that would've been a cool little bit of design for her, both because she's from a wartorn nation and as a thematic tie to other characters like Barret (missing an arm) and Red XIII (missing an eye). so, I drew it
