Jonathan working to support his family and help Joyce out, only for that effort to be the reason Will goes missing. Hence why Jonathan blamed himself so heavily

Lonnie trying to use Joyce's mourning to worm money out of her

The way jonathan couldn't stand watching will in pain that he actively tries to stop the exorcism-type scene. Like that could've been DISASTROUS if he had stopped it, but. We never talk about how much agony those byers kids were in that scene. Physically for will and emotionally for Jonathan. Pls watch that scene. The pain in that episode tears through me like nothing ever before BECAUSE THE WAY HE TURNS AND FRANTICALLY HIDES BY HUGGING NANCY...........

I think the people who say “You don’t need to be critical of every piece of media you consume” fundamentally misunderstand what we mean by “critical”.

When we say “be critical of the media you consume” we don’t mean “be negative” as in, find every flaw and pick it apart CinemaSins style.

We mean “examine it”. Like, look at what you are consuming, and in many cases, enjoying, and ask yourself why you are enjoying it. Ask yourself who made it. Ask yourself if you are the target audience. Ask yourself if you are being represented by the characters you see. Ask yourself if the author has biases or political leanings they are trying to include in the story.

Just, ask yourself questions. The answers don’t have to be negative. That’s not what being critical means.

no offence but i think a lot of us me included don’t actually want romantic love as badly as we think and really are just lonely and crave a closeness and intimacy that feels out of reach in friendships because of society’s emphasis on marriage and the nuclear family so we project that into the never ending search for a perfect love and a soulmate when really we all just want to mean something to someone

Some aro allyship things:

Learn about amatonormativity.

Try to be more open-minded about things you don’t understand. (E.g. Queerplatonic relationships can be founded on a kind of attraction you might not experience, you don’t need to 100% understand or experience something to support people who experience this.)

Don’t assume ace inclusionists are aro inclusionists too if they haven’t said so. Some people exclude aros but not aces - ask to be sure.

No matter how much you’ve read up on aromanticism, aro issues, and aro terminology, don’t police aro identities! Romance is a social construct defined differently by almost everyone (especially alloromantics who like to not define it at all!) so it shouldn’t surprise you that people with vastly different experiences might use the same label.

Try not to be casually amatonormative. Saying things like “they’re just friends” or “they’re more than friends” reinforces the hierarchy and border between friendship and romance. They’re equal, romance isn’t a step up, and there is a lot of grey area between the two that shouldn’t be ignored.

Some cute sibling things from personal experience: • bonding over references to obscure cartoons watched obsessively as kids / • going on walks together just to get out of the house / • friendship bracelets / • cooking together / • turning on a Family Favorite Song and everyone just sings it really loudly

You know what makes me mad? I used to work at Pizza hut and everyday we would have to throw away perfectly good pizza or potato wedges or garlic bread in the bin because it was the wrong order or the customer had changed their mind. They made us bin the whole thing. We weren’t allowed to put it aside to eat from or take it home (we all earned minimum wage so it’s not like we culd afford pizza that expensive a lot). But what makes me even madder is that they could easily give that to the homeless or poor. Like, if a homeless person came into the store, we could have easily given him one of the 20 or so pizzas that we would be binning every single day anyway. Imagine all the pizza hut stores in the world. Imagine each and every one throwing away on average 20 pizzas a day. Imagine how many people that would feed. Fuck corporations man.
