Art+Science 2017 exhibition and festival branding
Art+Science festival has been a long standing event held in Belgrade, Serbia that is closely tied to Ars Electornica in Linz. The event brings together artists who utilize technology in their work to convey powerful and though provoking messages and interactive installations.
The featured a large number of eminent artists and their work, followed by an evening program, musical support and workshops, all in the attempt to bring both art and science closer to the public and raise awareness about the future of creative expression and exploration.
The studio I was working for in 2017. was comissioned to design a new identity and complete branding of the event and all of the peripherals. I was tasked with the entirety of the project which I conceived as a framed set of elements that reminisce of old computer graphics and simple renderings of shapes and surfaces. The majority of the material was produced for the event itself as spatial pieces and signage systems.
My role: Creative & art direction, design & illustration Agency: Coba&Associates Year: 2017.

Solipsist
Everything begins at home.
Solipsist is a curated product shop aimed specially at those who have opted to merge their home and work spaces. It caters to the people who wish to enrich and take care of their space and acquire the right tools to perform their daily tasks as well as their house chores.
Solipsist adheres to a philosophy of maintenance of one’s personal space as a way of enriching their inner and outer worlds.
The shop and curation service is still in development and is intended to produce it’s own unique products as well as to partner with high-quality manufacturers of furniture, stationary products, writing and organizing tools, home decoration and appliances as well as utilities that are first and foremost utilitarian but nonetheless beautifully crafted.
A strong Swiss influence was chosen as a direction here in order to accent the many details and specifics of each product in a more technical manner, but also to provide a timeless, minimalist and international foundation for the identity that would be easy to maintain, update and feel secure and classical.

PDP Conference 2018 - INCIDENT
The Event
After 10 years of activity and 5 years of my own engagement (on and off) the PDP Creative Media Conference in Novi Sad, Serbia celebrated it’s birthday with possibly it’s best event to date.
This year we were reflecting on our inception and all the experiences we’ve gone through during the undeniably long period of activity and it’s challenges and turbulences but also it’s success and reach.

The theme INCIDENT was devised inspired by a comment of one of the last year’s speakers Saša Tkačenko, who remarked how an event such as this one is able to maintain it’s ground and activity in Serbia for almost 10 years saying “This is nothing short of an incident”. Agreeing with his observation, we decided to coil our entire theme around it and shape the conference programme in a way that would display our activities so far as well as question what it means to achieve success, to work under harsh climate and conditions or to make something different, incidental or unexpected.

Carefully curating the programme, my head co-organizer and I have taken a lot of time selecting the perfect speakers for this occasion and picking the right activities such as exhibitions and workshops that would accompany the main programme.

We were excited to host a number of high profile designers: Mitch Paone - creative director of DIA Patrick Thomas - Berlin based graphic artist Spassky-Fischer - a prominent French design studio Constantin Demner - aka Studio Elastik from Vienna SHOLIM - Belgrade based visual artist Mihailo Kalabić - an up and coming designer The end result was a very rich programme spanning four locations in Novi Sad that featured workshops by Patrick Thomas, Mitch Paone, Mane Radmanović and Ivana Radmanovac, exhibitions by Patrick Thomas, Spassky-Fischer, SHOLIM and Igor Bošnjak.
The Identity
One of the major tasks this year was also devising an identity for the conference I did back in 2014 and 2015.
This year since it was a matter of reflecting upon our activities and finally emerging from the shadows and quasi underground status, the identity was created to resemble a document, report or archive aesthetic using only the ZXX font which featured two weights we used throughout our campaign.

Using the language of official address and the overly complicated but often charming technical and administrative lingo, the identity was meant to present PDP in it’s rawest form without additional symbolism.
The entire spatial layout and branding of all of the objects was conceived as a distillation of the visual imagery and utilities used at scenes of crime, fire, hazards and other areas that should be off limits. By implementing custom made tapes we ensured that the city would be aware and engaged with our presence.

The PDP Retrospective Exhibition - EXIBIT A
The final piece of this project was our very own retrospective exhibition that was located in the main hall of the Edjseg castle where all of our lectures took place. As all of our exhibitions were denominated with EXHIBIT followed by their respective letter nomenclature, EXHIBIT A was the first one we displayed and present during the entirety of the duration of our conference.

Designed as a large timeline a long report of our activities, our exhibition featured our complete history with all of our previous material and objects relevant to each year, cataloged and tagged.
The entire EXHIBIT A served as an opened archive of all things that have influenced and made by the PDP to this day.

The frame design made by Monika Madjar allowed for a modular setup, which suited the concept adequately and allowed for a number of elements to be arranged in different ways and variety of options for further use.

Diatomic Studio brand identity
After a long and successful career in architecture bureaus, a small team of creators decided to form their own bureau and call it Diatomic Studio. The studio takes on different types of projects most of which include interior and furniture design.
Their new identity needed a bold and simple concept that had enough flexibility to span it across a multitude of materials. Therefore a frame system was devised that emanates from the logo and encapsulates the entirety of the content but also doesn’t restrict it too much.
The studio embraced the design immediately and further development of materials is under way.

Serbian Pavilion, Biennale Architettura di Venezia 2018
As a part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture, the Serbian pavilion has a rich and long history. Located in the Giardini, arguably at one of the best locations, the inherited pavilion from the former Yugoslavia hosts Serbian artists, architects and many more over the years.
The 2018 theme of the Biennale was Freespace, an open and very wide subject that posed the question of what defines freedom, what is a free space, where is it and weather it is something intimate or collective?
The exhibition of the Serbian pavilion was a complex one. The artist and architect Branko Stanojević was entrusted with creating the concept and producing it and I was very fortunate and honored to be a part of that production by designing the complete material for and around the exhibition.
Revolving around one of Serbia’s (and indeed Yugoslavia’s) best and most respected architects and once a mayor of Belgrade, Bogdan Bogdanović, the exhibition explored his once prominent but now abandoned and dilapidated village school of architectural philosophy linking it to his seminal book The Citissary (a metaphysical dicitionary of a city) and the artists exploration and interpretation of the space that once was at the school, the many notions selected from the Citissary and rendered in the artist’s own voice and vision.
The design for the exhibition had to be a minimal, complementary device that would only enhance the experience of the visitors while still leaning on the familiar notions that Boganović and the period during which he worked have left behind in the rich history of memorial architecture and avant-garde design and art.
The core of the identity was the font called Soyuz Grotesk which I had modified to accomodate a few specific Serbian characters with the kind permission of the author of the font, Temporary State. It’s intricate execution and merger of the characters were both an homage to Bogdanović’s very specific style as well as an archetypal hint at the very philosophical themes that the entire exhibition tackled.

PDP Conference 2015 Lo-Fi-Hi
The PDP Conference in Novi Sad has been a long standing annual event bringing designers and creatives to a 4 day event that includes talks, workshops and more. Besides being its art director I also act as a program co-director and co-selector
The theme for the year 2015 was chosen to be the one that tackles the challenges and obstacles posed by a lack of resources and ultimately the joys and triumphs that creatives achieve once they find a mind-blowing solution and a great concept that has a lo-fi execution. Hence the name Lo-Fi-Hi.
The conference hosted both local and international names, among which were the most prominent the likes of Leta Sobijerajski, Slavimir Stojanović and many more.
The identity was a combination of a glitchy, broken aesthetic applied to numerous cheap materials such as the canvas lanyards and invitations, the 2x4 printed certificates and many more. Our entire image was reduced and chaffed to accommodate this fun and important theme and show our fellow creatives how a great concept can be made with little to none.
